Two hours is way too long every week. Most of us just watch for the challenge and the weigh-in. There has to be 45 minutes worth of commercials during it. I'd like to see them give the viewer an idea of what we should be doing going into every commercial break. I.e. squats, crunches, etc... I may suggest this to NBC. What do you think?

Borrow from your retirement if possible. Put it on a credit card. Talk to surgeon's office about a finance plan. Refinance the new house.

Common sense would say that is enough justification. Unfortunately the insurance companies don't use common sense when figuring this stuff out. Somebody did post yesterday that tricare approved them in 2 days. So, that is a good omen. As for the psych eval; do not worry about it! They ask all kinds of questions but nothing really incriminating for lack of a better term. Depression helps you get approved, it doesn't hinder!

Hi, By feet and back problems, do you mean they hurt or have you had to have surgery or take medication for them? Do you suffer from sleep apnea; high blood pressure; high cholesterol, type II diabetes or depression due to your weight?

I'm over-thinking it. Please clarify for me.

You pouch doesn't have to stay full. Once your stomach signals the brain that it is full, the brain is supposed to say, "see you in another 4 - 5 hours." -
How much Water are you drinking. Water plays an important role in weight loss. It purges the waste from your system. as gatorgal mentioned, if you don't get enough water, your body will start retaining Fluid because they are not being washed away.

Why are you losing weight?

Doesn't it kill you when somebody says, "you're only as old as you feel" and you feel a lot older? I want to strangle the originator of that line. -

How Do You Log Your Calories?
btrieger replied to zobee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Bodybugg for the calories I eat and the calories I burn. -
Keep on reading and you are bound to commit one of my peeves. This week's peeve is adults that think they have to explain themselves to their young children as if they were equal.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Not Losing Loser needs a Mentor
btrieger replied to GhostDog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You've lost 35 pounds. That is not failure!!! Are you feeling restriction and eating around it or did you never get to your sweet spot? I'm not a good mentor because I get frustrated easily and hurt people's feelings without trying to but I can give you a few generic tips for weight loss for the banded or gentile. Log everything that you eat. EVERYTHING. This will help you see how many calories you are consuming. You may be eating more than you think. Drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day. Try to walk at least 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. -
Was supposed to get my date today but nothing ever works out for me. I'm used to it after 45+ years. No major setback at all, I just have to wait for my surgeon's office to contact my cardiologist and get his ok for me to stop taking Plavex for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I hope he is ok with it. I had stents placed in my coronary arteries after the heart attack 3 months ago and you are supposed to take Plavex for 6 months after. It just gives me more time to research and think.

I got on the scale this morning as I do every morning because I never listen to the little voice that says once a week is enough. Well, anyways, it said 305. I am down 60 pounds, 15% of my starting weight since I started this journey. I am NOT dieting. I am eating the same things. I just cut the portions a little and am logging everything. I don't go to bed hungry like I always have on other diets. I have NOT been working out. I have been walking and doing a teenie bit of running about 5 hours a week. I stretch for about 5 minutes every morning and pick up my 10 lb dumbbell for about 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a week. But I am not waking up sore like I have from other work outs. I have NOT been banded. I've lost a lot of weight and post on this site a lot with my cool little ticker. But I have not been banded yet like other posters. A lot of my weight loss has been with the help of the Bodybugg. Other has come from the nutritionists at my surgeons office. I will schedule my LAP-BAND® surgery in 6 days. It will probably be for the first week of February. I am having second thoughts. I am doing so well without the LAP-BAND® that it has me wondering if I need it at all. I am still about 80% - 20% in favor of getting it but that number is dwindling. This scares me because I have lost a lot more than 60 lbs in the past only to gain it back and them some. But in the past I was dieting. This is different. And if I decide not to get banded I have to stop being sarcastic and witty here  I guess only time will tell.

Less than half of them are fatter than I was 3 months ago at 365 pounds and I consider myself to be "typical" obese person. Come on MinPin, you're in Texas. Everyone is bigger here. I should make a poll too see how many think there will be a death on the show prior to them finding a 600+ lb contestant. No, I don't want to see a death but I don't know how they made it this far without one.

just got my date today
btrieger replied to stamich0830's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I just got home from surgeon's office and I was supposed to get my date today but my cardiologist did not specifically list in the release for surgery that I could stop taking Plavex for 2 weeks. Now, I have to wait until they contact him and hope he gives the ok. -

I have. Imagine when it is used in the context, "Who's that other guy with your wife?" -

I am getting my date tomorrow and I am almost too confident going into this. I hope after I am banded, I can come back here and still not be able to answer this question. -
Congrats!!

Welcome! I wish I had your restraint to stay off of the scale for more than a day

Great story and congrats on your weight loss to date. Keep and eye on everybody because that contagious stuff works in both directions. One person slipping can trigger an avalanche.
