dont lose too much comment- A Question
btrieger replied to mi_illusion_st's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If anyone ever tells me I look too thin, I will give them a twenty and a wet kiss! -
And a health care package that MOST Americans don't want is a success? I am indifferent to both parties and look at the issues and how they are wasting my money on an individual basis. I don't see Obama being any more successful than Bush yet.
-
As for having morals and not being xtian; I have no doubt whatsoever that there is no God; yet I believe I have high morals. I definitely know the difference in right from wrong. The two-party system is one of the many things destroying the very fabric of this country. It makes everyone choose one party or the other. Once elected the reps and senators don't think for themselves or vote as there constituents want them too. They vote along party lines. I don't consider myself to be conservative, liberal or moderate. I am all over the map. I am far right on some issues; far left on some; undecided or apathetic about others. I think most intelligent people think as I do and the current system doesn't recognize us. And CM, the democrats did the same things and said exactly the same thing about Bush. And at this point, the republicans are being a lot more civil about it.

Is anything I can obliterate in my food processor considered mushie?

I plan on asking my surgeon or nutritionist this but am curious now. -
Shonette, I am in a similar situation and not letting it get me down. I should have had my surgery date a couple of days ago. This is not a race. We have the rest of our lives to get it done.

Why are you losing weight?
btrieger replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I should have included that as an option. It is exactly what spurred me on in the beginning. At 30 I bought a sports car. At 35 I bought a home gym. At 40 I bought a new house. At 45 I'm buying a lapband. At 50 I will probably by a cemetery plot. -
Now I know what "food getting stuck" means
btrieger replied to onenuttynurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately, I am not speaking from experience. Slime is that saliva that we used to blow bubbles in when when were kids. The spit we used to let drip out of our mouths a few feet and then suck it back up. I guess that builds up when you are stuck or eat the wrong thing. -
Pppl banded but not losing much weight!?! why?!
btrieger replied to Acerbia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Bodybugg will definitely help. It will tell you how many calories you are burning and then you just need to try and keep how many calories you are eating to 500 less than that. I am a fat slob and didn't get this way because I had a lot of willpower. I am not banded yet but with the help of the Bodybugg I have been losing 3-5 pounds a week. I am eating basically everything I always have but have cut my portions down. I walk about 3 miles a day, 45 min - 1 hour. I was walking 3 miles every other day but just moved up. I am NOT dieting, I am NOT hungry, I am NOT killing myself at some gym. With the Bodybugg and the lapband you should be able to make much better progress than you have. Make sure to drink at least 64 ounces of Water daily as well. This is needed to wash the waste from your system. -

Congrats!! I can't wait to get banded so I can get stuck, slime and PB. I've read so much about them I need to experience them so I know what it was all about. -

Not cheating but using a tool that makes it not as painful. -

I think you have the advantage. You may have to work just as hard but you won't be as hungry as they are. -

We get about 30 days a year with a high over 100 F (38C) a year but the swimming pool is always refreshing.

Please help... discouraged
btrieger replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, you have lost a lot of weight. It will fluctuate. Do not beat yourself up over it. It is not enough to "watch" what you eat. Log it online or on paper and you may see that you are eating more than you thought. If you don't see what is causing it, you can discuss what you've logged with a nutritionist and they may be able to point you in the right direction. And drink plenty of water. At least 64 ounces a day. -
Congrats!! Set whatever goal you want and if you don't hit that goal just look at all of the weight you did lose trying to hit it and pretend you never set it.

8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
btrieger replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery and fills have nothing to do with how much weight you lose or how fast. You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume. The band is just a tool that should make you feel satisfied after eating less food if you eat correctly. Have you been logging everything you eat? There are many free sites for doing this online. This really helps because you may see that you are eating more than you thought and it will also help when you visit a nutritionist. I have not been banded yet but am losing weight steadily by logging my intake and comparing it to the calories I am burning. There is a BMR calculator here: Basal Metabolic Rate : Calculators : Discovery Health That will show you how many calories you are burning while resting. You'll have to add any from exercise in. -
Anyone start with a BMI over 50 and not be successful with Lap-Band?
btrieger replied to Spaz80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be blunt. Your surgeon is an ass! My BMI was 55+ in September when I first met with my surgeon. We discussed my eating habits and sedintary lifestyle a little. He then discussed the pros and cons of each and asked me which procedure I was interested in having done. He did not try and steer me in one direction or the other and I don't think any surgeon should because of BMI. I am not banded yet but have done enough research that I could probably perform the procedure on myself. Well, maybe not that much. Losing weight with the band or bypass has nothing to do with your BMI. It is all about your eating habits and lifestyle. If you are ready to alter these a little then you will succeed with either. Keep doing research on this site and others and you will find this to be true. Good luck!!! -
I should have had my date 2 days ago but my cardiologist left something off of his release. Hopefully that will be cleared up by next week. This morning the scale said 300. Not only do I love round numbers but that means even without the band I have lost 1/3 of the 195 pounds I had to lose. Last week I was having second thoughts but I am gung ho to get my band now and it better keep me from ever seeing 300 again. I am figuring I will be 285-290 by the time I get it and around 265 for my first fill.

I'm spend a lot of time at the dog park on Davis with my babies that as of today outweigh me! That doesn't mean I will be nicer

I found the numbers once but haven't been able to locate them recently. The fatality rate from lapband surgery is like 1 in 2,600

Ah, why wait? I cheated and read her blog. She was about as far away from warm and sunny as you get in the winter. Canada. and she brought the Canadian cold air back to Texas with her.

Too funny. You are going to love the answer!!!

btrieger replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know about health being the PC answer but I am surprised by the results. I figured it would be 5 to 1 for health. While reading a couple of other threads a lot of people were claiming that they wanted to look good and being healthy was just a side effect. So, I made the poll to see if this held true and I guess it does. I wish the best to everyone no matter the reason we are doing it.
