    Lap-band bloggers?

There are plenty of blogs on this site. Click BLOGS up top or just follow this link: LAP-BAND
  2. Wow! Almost 20% men. Is anybody else surprised by this? I was expecting 10% or so.

    Sucking at success.....

You shouldn't be ashamed. There isn't a person on this site that has not cheated on a diet at least a hundred times. The band isn't going to give you will power. That comes from your head. You need to get at the core of what is making you cheat. Do you know what it is that triggers you to eat garbage? Is it boredom; stress; the smell or sight of food? Have you considered anything like therapy, hypnosis or acupuncture?

    "Small" bites?!!!

Lapband Resource Center It says to aim for the size of a pea or a pencil eraser.
  5. Get over it already and get on with your life!! I won't say not to be disappointed because I would be with myself. I would also try hard to start over and forget about the past. You probably haven't done any permanent harm or it would be painful. Start calling surgeons on Monday morning but don't wait until Monday to get back in the game. Start by documenting everything you eat. You can do this on paper or online here: Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate Only eat when you are hungry and stop when you are no longer hungry. Limit the amount of snack foods you eat. If you must snack, try to keep them to around 100 calories. Drink at least 64 ounces of clear Water a day. Exercise a few times a week.

    Pre Op Questions

I hope somebody posts with "how the Gas-X is helping" because it makes absolutely no sense to me. But it's cheap and if it works, I will do it.
  7. You are very young and have your whole life ahead of you. Today is just the first day. You can find the surgeons in your area by clicking here: LapBandTalk.com - LapBand Surgeon Search Call a few and ask if they handle aftercare for already banded patients. Keep us up to date on your progress. Also, stick around and let other young people know that the weight doesn't magically disappear after the piece of plastic is inserted. There are quite a few here that are in their teens and think this is the answer to all of their problems.

    Pre Op Questions

This is a stupid question but what in the world could Gas-x do for gasses that are in the abdomen? Sure, it relieves gas in the stomach and intestines but from everything I have read, the gas causing the pain after surgery is in neither.
  9. That sounds a little far-fetched to me. Even if it were possible, there is probably more of a chance of an aircraft crashing into your car. Are you afraid to get in your car? It is normal to be anxious or scared but don't let it get out of control.

    cardiac evaluation

I had an electrocardiogram, a.k.a. ultrasound done.
  12. Liz, You've lost quite a bit of weight. Did you do it sticking to the same old routine and diet? If so, your body probably optimized itself around that routine. You have to change things up and shock it a little. Exercise more; eat more or both.

    So Frustrated

One non-scientific way to tell if you are getting enough Water is that by afternoon your urine is clear and not yellow. Stay positive, your weight may all fall off at once. I don't know if I can add anything else. It sounds like you are doing everything right. I burn an average of 1,500 calories more than I consume which averages to about 3 pounds a week. Some weeks I only lose 2 pounds and other weeks I drop 6 or 7 without doing anything different.

    So Frustrated

Are you drinking plenty of Water? It is necessary to filter the waste from your body. Eating an excess amount of sodium can make your body retain fluids. Have you been keeping sodium levels below 5,000 mg a day? Are you sure you are entering everything you eat in the right amount? Everyone underestimates. Check out the documentation on the bodybugg site: bodybugg
  15. Or you can just go to this page and enter a couple of numbers: Basal Metabolic Rate : Calculators : Discovery Health Then do the stuff below. Or you can invest in a Bodybugg or Go Fit Wear and it will do all of this for you giving you more time to exercise. No matter how you get your final number. Here is how to use it: A pound of fat takes 3,500 calories to burn. So, every time you burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you lose a pound. That's 1 pound a week if you burn 500 cal a day more than you eat. Unfortunately, the opposite is true as well. You gain a pound every time you consume 3,500 calories that aren't burned.

    This has me scared....

I should have added, that if you weren't able to tell her immediately that she was wrong; then you need to keep doing research. Get the ball rolling and do as much research as you possibly can during your waiting period. It's not too late turn back or change your mind until the piece of plastic is inside of you.

    This has me scared....

About the only thing she got right is that you lose weight quicker. * Ask her about the 2% chance of fatality. * Ask her about the Vitamin supplements she will be taking for the rest of her life. * Ask her about dumping. * Ask her about the foods she can never eat again. * Ask her about the pain and the recovery time from surgery. * Ask her about the birth defects her children will have if she gets knocked up due to lack of nutrients. * Tell her that the fatality rate from lapband is less than .5%. * Tell her that lapband surgery can be undone if need be. * Tell her there is no need for supplements if you eat right. * Tell her you can get prego and have healthy babies. * Tell her over time that you will most likely maintain your weight loss. * Tell her to do some research before spouting off crap like this.

    Getting frustrated!

My paperwork was supposed to be submitted to Aetna on January 6th but my cardiologist did not indicate that I could stop taking my blood thinners for a couple of weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon's office said they would call him the next day; get the ok and submit the paperwork. I called Aetna on the 13th to see how things were progressing and they said that they haven't seen the request. I figured, "oh well, maybe they couldn't reach my cardiologist." I called Aetna again on the 20th and they still haven't seen the request. So, I call my surgeon's office and explain my concern. The receptionist tells me that the insurance specialist is out of the office "today" and that she was transferring me to her voice mail. Well, I left a message on Wednesday and it is Friday night. I still haven't heard from them. I was in no hurry to get banded because I have been doing great on my own. However, my roommate just told me that he is moving back to nasty, disgusting, frigid, tax-you-to-death Boston in February and he is my ride to and from surgery. I need to get this over with before he leaves. I am self sufficient to a fault and it kills me to have to ask anybody else for a favor. Apparently it doesn't hurt me to whine though.

    Biggest Loser 2010

They had immunity last week. So, right before the weigh-in she sucked down a gallon of Water to make her weigh a lot more. This week she was immune again so she pulled the same crap. All of the excess weight is water. That means all she has to do is pee to make her look like she lost 5+ pounds next week.

    Biggest Loser 2010

It's not really the fact that she did it but she lied about it. Michael is disappointing. He is kind of a clown and he has a shot of losing more than any other contestant ever has.
