Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana...Beware! He banded an esophagus!
btrieger replied to melissasmith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He is practicing in Mexico. I don't think it is as easy as just picking up the phone and dialing 1-800-LAWYERS. A number 1 reason I would never consider crossing borders for surgery. There are a couple of older threads about this quack on here. One of them includes stories from a girl who claims he killed her father. -
Congrats!! You managed to change your mindset and it will be smooth sailing from here.

You can do it! Just focus on the end result and put the rest out of your mind.

TMI Alert: Constipation...
btrieger replied to ~amy~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm happy you are ok and I am grateful that you posted this. You may have saved myself and others from a real "pain in the ass." Thanks!!! I already have a "hard" time because of some of the medications I am on and that is with 3 Dulcolax stool softeners a day. I've been trying to figure out where these babies are coming from since I've been drinking only Protein shakes and Water for 2 weeks. After surgery I am going to take a strong laxative whether the doctor likes it or not. -
I don't understand!!!

Wow! I never would have thought that other countries were becoming as fascist concerning weight as we are. That kid doesn't look like she has an ounce of body fat on her. -

Well said AC. Love the comparison to global warming and second hand smoke. I was thinking the same. How can we not be skeptical when they are trying to convince everybody that they are overweight? I don't know what the media is like across the pond but in the states all we hear every day is how most of us are fat and getting fatter. Then we see television commercials for drugs and exercise equipment starring some housewife that may have been a pound or two overweight and lost it. -
Dr David Kim in Colleyville is performing my surgery. I did research for a while before making my decision on him. He has a great track record for install and revision. I don't know about uninstall. Here's his website: Bariatric Weight Loss LAP-BAND System Gastric Bypass Surgery Arlington Dallas Fort Worth (Ft. Worth) Texas (TX) Good luck

TMI Alert: Constipation...

Keep moving. I'd consider calling the doctor. I can only imagine the pain. 6 days is the longest I have gone. -
I don't understand!!!
btrieger replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I understand what you are saying but I don't think whether it works or not has anything to do with your gender. There are different calculations for men and women. I suspect that most of the people that it is way off on may have altered their metabolism by a lot of yo-yo dieting. I am still trying to make sense of the people saying that they are gaining weight on 500 calorie a day. -
I don't understand!!!
btrieger replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That calculation has been right on with my weight loss for the past 5 months. So, there is some merit to it. -
It's definitely not all staged but I wish they'd give some kind of disclaimer on the parts that are instead of playing us for fools. "The scenes you are about to see are reenactments of what could happen..."

Congrats!! 299 has been the most rewarding part of my journey so far. You need to add a goal. 1.5. 273 (lost triple digits!)

Pre-op shake question
btrieger replied to jenjohn38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
JJ, It sounds like Carnation if a suitable shake if it is on your list. My pre-op is 800 calories a day. So that is right on. -
I don't understand!!!
btrieger replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woohoo!! Thank you Doctor! In the 6 plus months I have been on this site, this is the first time I have seen a doctor take the time to answer questions. I'm impressed. -

Thank you! If I can do it, any man can. There is definitely nothing special about me. -

No, it's because we have a lot more muscle mass than women; aren't as prone to be addicted to sweets and generally get more exercise. If you aren't happy with how fast you are losing then you have to do something about it. Exercise more and eat less calories. Calories in / calories out. I am down 87 pounds in 5 months as of yesterday and I am still a week and a half away from being banded. I can honestly tell you that in the past 5 months, I have not been dieting and I have not gone to bed hungry. I simply cut my portions by 25%; eat 3 meals a day and limit my snacks to 160 cal or less. I have figured out that I am not normal though. I have been on an Optifast, protein shake only, pre-op diet for 12 days now and have not been hungry either. I think I've trained my brain to look forward to the weight I'm losing and not how I am doing it. I have been using a Bodybugg and am convinced that it has helped just as much as the band will. I can read the side of a package and know how how many calories I am consuming but the Bodybugg tells me how many I am burning. -
I am compelled to watch it even though it is way too staged. Managers don't make waitresses play reindeer games when there is a camera on them. Retarded people don't come out and hug the garbage lady by coincidence.

Depending on who is paying for it, it could take anywhere from a month to a year. It is usually outpatient. That depends on the surgeons policy.

Getting banded at Wise Regional in Decatur on March 2 by Dr Kim. Decatur is about 50 miles northwest of Carrollton. There was a lot of confusion and I wasn't sure what was going on for a little while but they fired the girl in his office that was screwing up my life. I just can't wait to get it over with.
