It is my 3rd day post-op and I haven't had much noticeable gas at all today. -
Test successful. Now you need to get yourself a ticker :smile2:

Welcome pops! Take your time. You're young and life isn't a race. Why Mexico?

What are your thoughts on hunting?
btrieger replied to jessress87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Rats, pigeons and cockroaches are just a few of the animals that have outplayed their roles in our ecosystem. They are filthy disease ridden creatures that serve no purpose other than to be a nuisance to humanity. As you said, to each their own. I am not totally heartless. I don't think the rattlesnake round-ups are right but I won't get in their way. -

Betsy, don't hold your breath waiting for your son to grow out of it. I am 45 and there is no end in site for me yet. :smile2: -

I see no problem with shooting pigeons for the fun of it. They are a nuisance. Maybe they can include seagulls too! -
why band over vertical sleeve?
btrieger replied to babettegriffin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most insurance companies will only cover the lapband or bypass. The lapband is reversible. With the sleeve, they cut off a good portion of your stomach and toss it in the trash. Not reversible. The lapband is adjustable and can be tweaked as time goes on. The sleeve is a one time deal and once you stretch it, you're out of luck. I don't see the interest in the sleeve myself, I'd go bypass if not lapband. It is all personal preference. I wish you luck in whatever choice you make. -
Here come the hungries!

Fight it! Find a way to take your mind off of it. Go for a walk every time the feeling comes or something else. -

Day 2 of pre-op diet and HUNGRY!
btrieger replied to KarenCI's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For a lot of us there was no lean cuisine meals. It was straight shakes for 2 or more weeks. You have it easy. Use that as your motivation. Look forward to the reward; the weight loss and better health. Don't think about the hunger or the food you aren't eating. Thousands of us have done it and we were all felt hunger too. You can do it! -
Congrats!! That's great news!! Too many people get discouraged and give up.

I ended up sleeping about 14 hours yesterday and last night. Woke up this morning feeling great. Hopefully no surprises tomorrow. It's great to hear that Mark is home and doing ok. I hope the news is good from the transplant team. I didn't realize this was pledge drive week where we were supposed to go enlist family members for lapband. I guess I'll wait until next time. -
Don't say that. A grand external motivation arrived for me in the form of a heart attack at 44. It hurt like Hell. So, I definitely don't suggest sitting around waiting for it.

You are putting too much thought into it. You don't need to record every calorie and gram of Protein. Just what you eat and how much. Let a website like The Daily Plate do the calculations for you. It would only take as much time as it did for you to make this one post. Keep a positive attitude. If you get discouraged it may spiral downward and you'll have further to come back.

teytey, check out this link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ 15 pounds in 6 weeks is great! That is is 2.5 pounds a week! If you want a lot more than that, try amputation. :smile2: You are doing great!! -
I just had my surgery Tuesday afternoon. There has been no real pain. Following surgery I had unbearable gas, it felt like something was trying to push its way out of my stomach. I ate a bunch of Gas-X strips and farted a lot. Felt better when I went to bed. Slept great. Wednesday morning, the gas was back. Back to the Gas-X strips and farts. Today, when I got up every muscle in my body was aching. It was not pain but bothersome aching. I took the dogs to the dog park for 2 hours, got plenty of exercise and felt ok. Just woke up from a 4 hour nap and the aches are back. I can't wait to see what is in store for tomorrow. :smile2:

Day 2 post op and every muscle aching
btrieger posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this some kind of secret or is it just me? I have never read about muscles aching all over. Felt great after surgery, just gas. More gas yesterday. Today, no gas but every muscle head to toe is aching. -

It is probably something like that. Or the IV fluid. I lost 4 pounds overnight. 3 others that had recent surgery are claiming the same aches. I guess I just sit back and wait. Crystl, thanks for the cheese offer but no solids for another 4 weeks. -

btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not feeling great. I think I am getting payback for feeling good after surgery. Every muscle in my body is aching. I wasn't expecting this. Never read a thing about it. Gas is gone and no pain around incisions. Just muscle aches. Especially my calves when I stand or walk. It's a good thing I didn't go straight back to work. -

Well, you know what they say, "misery loves company." I have been reading these forums and obesityhelp for a long time and I don't remember this being mentioned. Everybody loves a surprise.
