    Fell off.......

The positives here are that you stopped before you did any real damage and you didn't declare it a cheat week or month. :smile2:
  2. Trust me, it started as a front. I am posting and using others to convince myself to have a positive attitude. It does seem to be working though. I am chugging right along and not looking back. I am starting to get light headed for a few seconds every time I stand but am fine and not weak or drowsy afterward. I hope my surgeon and nutritionist know what they are doing prescribing these diets. My blood pressure and/or sugar has to be lower than it should be. My follow-up appointment is March 16th and I start mushies 4 days from now, hopefully I can fix whatever is going on.
  3. Welcome and congrats cynpat!!! Lady Crimzon, don't be afraid of messing up. Be ready to recover from it if/when it happens.

    Has anyone else....

You weren't complaining. You just said you thought it'd be faster. :smile2: Good luck and I hope the pain fades.

    March 2010 only please

Check out this link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Good luck and let me know if you still need help.
  6. To be honest, I am sick of hearing about greek yogurt here. I'm glad you said how nasty it is. I was thinking I was the only one that thought it was rancid. Regular old Dannon or Yoplait are so much better. I love cottage cheese but have to wait another week for that. By that time I will be putting all kinds of crap in the Cuisine Art and creating mushy masterpieces.
  7. I didn't go the broth route. Sticking with shakes and fat free yogurt. The shakes got me through 3 weeks on pre-op. So, I am used to them and may as well keep going. :smile2:

Banded Living- Is This the EZ Way Out?

Let's just say that WLS is the easiest way out known to man. Why is that a bad thing? I don't understand what is wrong with taking the easy way out. Therefore, I don't understand the need to justify it.
  9. Happy Saturday all. Just checking in to say that I feel like surgery never even happened. I feel as good as I did prior to surgery. Now to take my time and go phase to phase with this post op diet.

    should i be scared?

It is natural to be afraid of the unknown but honestly there is nothing to be scared of. I had my surgery 4 days ago and you wouldn't even know by the way I feel today. I was uncomfortable for a couple of days at most. Just look ahead at the good that will come from this experience.
  11. I'm almost disappointed that my surgery was uneventful and boring. It was kind of like my C-section only this time the doctor didn't pick me up by my legs and slap me in the ass to get me breathing. 11:10 AM - Checked in the hospital 11:20 AM - Got brought a room to strip and put on a johnny 11:40 AM - Nurse inserted IV as prep 1:10 PM - Rolled to OR 2:20 PM - Woke up in recovery room feeling bloated 2:40 PM - Walked to x-ray and drank barium 3:20 PM - Was sent home I did not feel any pain yesterday and this morning I am a little cramped maybe sore but the gas is irritating. When I went to bed the gas is subsiding. Well, the night shift came on while I was sleeping and I have a whole batch of renewed gas this morning. I take 8 pills a day and the doctor said I may have to take them 1 at a time now. I took the whole fistful at once and chugged some water. No biggie. All in all, I've felt much worse after a night out drinking. I could actually go to work today if I wanted but that ain't gonna happen. I did however gain 5 pounds yesterday. How much do these damn bands weight?

Do I really need Lap Band?

You're doing the right thing. Take your time and do all of the soul-searching and research you need until you are positive one way or the other. You are young and the lapband isn't going anywhere. You've got 4 posts here showing the positive side of surgery. Look around and read the negatives as well. I wish you luck in whichever decision you make.

Banded Living- Is This the EZ Way Out?

Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto!! Nobody has made that comment to me yet but my response has been rehearsed, "What is wrong with taking the easy way out?"

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

My surgery was Tuesday as well. Thursday was my worst day as far as soreness and gas go. I felt great today. The fact that I had surgery 3 days ago slipped my mind until I attempted to lift a 38 pound bag of dog food. Had to settle for a couple of smaller bags for now. I don't feel any different when I drink either. I can still guzzle a half liter bottle of water with no ill affects.
  16. Our bodies take a minimum of 4 weeks to heal. The older we are the longer. The healing process includes excess fluids and scar tissue. Give it a little time and look at the positive, you're not gaining.
  17. Everyone was the new kid in the sandbox at one time. In no time flat you'll see the next wave of people coming through and you'll feel like an old pro. You can help them out the same way others helped you. I may be the only one but I actually enjoyed the 5 month wait between consult and surgery. I read and read and read to make sure I was doing the right thing. I think those that have little or no wait are missing out on some quality soul-searching time. And it's ok to step back from the website a few days at a time. We aren't going anywhere and I promise you won't miss anything vitally important. Good luck.

    Has anyone else....

Congrats on the weight loss!! That is more than a pound a week and nothing to be down about. You're losing. That is all that matters. I can't help with the soreness. Did you mention it to the doctor or nurse during your fill?
  19. You enjoyed a snack. Big deal! Don't you dare lose a second of sleep over it. I hope I've given up fast food for good but I plan on eating chips and dip once in a while when I get back to normal. I just wouldn't do it if I was supposed to be on liquids or mushies.

    Down 26 pounds in pre-op

Congrats!!!! That is a great start and 26 pounds you won't have to lose after banding.
  21. Depending on how much you've gained, he may postpone surgery because your liver is too fat. Good luck

    I Cheated........

Slap yourself on the back of the hand and don't do it again. One little piece won't hurt but that can snowball into another and another and another. You have to try your hardest to stick to the plan. The band comes with rules too. If you plan on following the band rules for the rest of your life, you should be able to follow the pre-op rules for a couple of weeks.

    a little DiScourAgeD

Shame should never be part of the equation! I can understand disappointment but you have done nothing to be ashamed of. You just have to try a little harder. The band is only a tool. You are the one that has to do the work. Good luck and stay away from guilt and shame!!
  24. Welcome aboard and good luck. I had no problem getting approved through Aetna. I've seen a few other patients of Dr Spiegel posting here.

    Another Milestone!

Congrats!!!!! I can only imagine how great you feel at this point.
