I have no idea what a xyphoid is and it isn't in the dictionary but my port is on the left side about 2 inches up and over from my belly button.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bon voyage Denise. Why does it seem that everyone is going on a trip but me? Leigha, how do you think her parents feel? Count your blessings :wink2: I got back on Facebook after getting kicked off a couple of years ago. Send me a friend request if you want. triegerb@verizon.net or search "Bob Trieger" -

btrieger replied to pmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That have to burp feeling lasted me 3 days. The Gas-X helps. I had no problem guzzling Water though. Good luck! -
I don't know about their complete package but sometimes it seem like they have a lot of balls. :wink2:

Good luck trying to convince them that the democrats are just as evil as the republicans. :wink2:

Wow Karen! You have taken a few years off as well! You look at least 10 years younger than you before pics. Well, I did it. I managed to get stuck and haven't even had my first fill yet. :wink2: I smashed the Hell of of a 3 ounce piece of tilapia with my fork instead of "dirtying" the food processor or blender. I took too big of a forkfull and apparently didn't chew well enough. Fortunately, it only lasted 2 minutes or so but I'm sure after a few fills if I am not careful, it will hurt a lot more and last a lot longer. Now onto to PBs and sliming!!! Woohoo!! -
Very good point about the other programs!! Having just been banded myself, I can only take my surgeon and veteran's bandsters word for it that the band will keep me from regaining after I lose.

The last time I was this size, I was....
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats ladies! I have to hold off on taking this poll for about 3 months. I was this size about 6 years ago. Once I drop 22 more pounds I will be in territory I haven't seen since my late 20s. -
Whether the band will work or not is ALL up to you. You are the one that must eat right and exercise to lose the weight. You are responsible for every pound you lose, not some little piece of plastic. The band is not a magic wand or a miracle cure. It is merely a tool that will help you feel full/satisfied with less food if used correctly. Like any tool, there are instructions that come along with the band. If you follow these and keep a positive attitude, the band will work for you. Read the experiences of both the successful and not so successful bandsters. Good luck!!

New here! And beyond grateful!
btrieger replied to AnneGG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the kind words! A lot of people, myself included don't have a lot of time to keep up with the forums on work days. If a post gets lost amongst the others and you don't get a response, it can be frustrating but please don't feel rejected or like you're being ignored. Sometimes you have to repost or reply to yourself in order for the posts to be seen. Keep your head up, a positive attitude is a far more powerful tool than a lapband. -
Help! Being banded on 3/11/2010 and soooooooo nervous!!
btrieger replied to mskutz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This looks similar to one of my blog entries. A lot of us are prepared for surgery only to have it delayed at the last minute for one reason or another. I was supposed to have surgery in January only to be delayed until March. loserbob had his surgery delayed a week from March 3rd until March 10th. Just keep a positive attitude and hang in there. The longer you are on the pre-op diet, the more weight you'll lose. -

Welcome to the madhouse Anne! You definitely are not alone here. The people on this site are great and basically, 95% of my support network. Good luck! -
I live alone and have nobody to take my picture but this one is real close: My pets never complained about my snoring. That is because my dogs snore louder than me.

Expectations and experience: how do they match up for you?
btrieger replied to Ohm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can only speak of expectations and not experience yet. I too was an overeater. I am not fat from junk food unless Guinness counts. I ate good foods for the most part, just way too much of them. I am expecting to lose 100% of my excess weight. With the emphasis on "I". I am expecting the band to keep me from over eating. I am taking a far distant route from many here in that I lost 50% of my excess weight prior to surgery and expect to lose another 5% with plastic surgery. So, basically, I am just asking the band to help me with 45%. I want to congratulate everybody on their drive to gain their lives back. Especially those that have hit their goals. You are an inspiration to the rest of us and strengthen our determination. -
Christine, you are not alone. I'm 3 days behind you and can relate totally. I've only lost 1 pound this week when I had been losing 3-5 pounds a week for the past 5 months. I'm not letting it get me down. I am going to try and be creative with the blender and bide my time until I can eat real food again. Good luck!

I don't know how the tightness stuff works personally but my nutritionist said that most people that are too tight resort to eating just sliders and drinking high calorie fluids. SO, tighter is not necessarily better for weight loss. I don't know if he was just trying to scare us or not. I'm hoping I never to get to the point that I can't eat rice. That is my carb of choice and I haven't had it in over a month. :frown: Denise, do you need/plan on having plastic surgery? That is usually at least 5 more pounds gone. -
Hi Christina! Welcome to the madhouse. There are people here from all over at all different stages of the lapband journey. Click on the big, obnoxious banner in my signature for a list of those that had/having surgery in March and the day of the surgery. You can see who had surgery the same day as you.

What was your "That's it" Moment?
btrieger replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had been researching WLS for a few years but it was a midlife crisis with my 45th birthday approaching that prompted me to get the process started. Exactly a week after my first consult, I had a couple of "minor" heart attacks and that point I knew it was the right decision at the right time. -
Congrats on your surgery! I wouldn't worry about any pains as long as the they are tolerable. Just keep walking and drinking water and everything will get back to normal soon. I had a huge bruise and a little aching near the site where they injected me with the blood thinner. Could that be causing it? Good luck and welcome to Bandland!

Another (slightly nervous) soon-to-be bandit
btrieger replied to bec*the*bandit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome aboard Dr Bec! Congrats on your decision and I hope all goes well! I don't think you should hide the fact that you are having surgery. If anything, you are being realistic. People don't think of doctors as some kind of invulnerable gods. We know you have the same physiology as the rest of us. If it's of any comfort, there are many bandsters with medical professions that post here. Nurses, doctors, technicians, etc... -

Happy Friday everyone!! Elfie, don't feel bad about not mentioning me. I don't care. You just ruined my entire weekend. :frown: Congrats Leigha!! I finally hit the 100 pound loss mark this morning and am not excited. I'm happy but not excited. Something is definitely wrong with me. I think I am afraid if I get excited I will wake up and realize it's just a dream or go out and Celebrate with 25 or 50 boneless wings at Bdubs. PS. I didn't cheat by getting sick. :frown: -
The lefties lied and exaggerated about W for 8 years. Why should Obama be immune? :blushing:
