I'm a Dr Kimmer here too. $100 a week is worth it. Optifast is downright delicious. I did it for 4 weeks straight and loved it. PS. Don't forget that you have a week or two of "liquids only" post surgery.

Mild laxatives are for those that aren't regular. If you are constipated and in pain it is too late for mild anything. Try MOM or another enema. If that doesn't work, get to the hospital!! You don't want to risk impaction. That is dangerous and very painful.

This is why I don't think of my band as much as a weight loss tool as I do a tool to keep me from regaining. Anybody can lose weight if they try. It's not putting it back on that is the killer.

THROWING UP and freaking out.....
btrieger replied to Jenna22's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Bariatric Advantage is nasty! I'd puke it back up too. Dr Kim offers Optifast and I did it for 4 straight weeks without a problem. I love the stuff. If you still are having an issue, call his office. Dr Kim has the most caring staff in the world and they will help. -

Driving myself 3 hours to my surgery
btrieger replied to MrMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I attempted it and they wouldn't let me. Good luck. -
I am basically at the same point. I don't think of it as the hard way. It is adventurous, not hard.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Anne, Sorry about the complications but being the contrarian that I am; I have to disagree with getting bypass unless you have already exhausted all other avenues. It is permanent and dangerous. You'll be taking supplements every day for the rest of your life. You're always welcome here for moral support. -
Restriction-What is it to you?
btrieger replied to Jilly29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I couldn't guzzle Water, I would go for an unfill but that's me. I need something to limit my food intake but drinking water should neither be painful nor a chore. -
Pre op diet what amount?
btrieger replied to newgmp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whomever told you to eat that stuff should have told you how much to eat. a quarter cup is usually the suggested serving size. So, any combination that equals 4 ounces. -

Not Loosing and FRUSTERATED!!!
btrieger replied to mrslamica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your weight loss!! I was banded the week before you and have lost an amazing 26 pounds since. Please note that I didn't use the "O" word. For about 4 weeks my weight was bouncing between 246 and 250. I waited it out and it finally broke. It is about patience and not worrying about small roadblocks. How much Water are you drinking? Water is a very important ingredient in weight loss. It acts as a filter and also prevents you from retaining fluids. Also, make sure you are getting at least 50 grams of Protein a day. -
Good luck and great attitude! There is nothing to be nervous about. We'll be waiting for you in Bandland.
-
And do not get discouraged!! You lost 20 pounds of ugly fat!! Be proud and stay positive!! You have a big belly. So, what? It was bigger 6 months ago.

Hockeymom is correct. How many calories you are eating is important but so isn't what kinds of food you are eating. You probably just need to make minor adjustments to your diet. cheese is a great source of Protein but can also be high in fat and sodium. Start watching your protein, fat and sodium as well as calories. Always drink at least 64 ounces of clear Water a day. Always consume no less than 50 grams of protein daily. Try not to exceed 30 grams of fat a day. Try not to exceed 4,000 mg of sodium daily.

Shamma, After seeing your latest pics, I can safely say, "you can give your seat belt extender away now. You don't need it."

The best part is that it does NOT come out your nose like when you really vomit. I hope that helps. :smile2: -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all. I hope all is well. There ain't no way I am reading through 2 months of posts to find out. The Farmville obsession is wearing off. I actually stopped playing all together on 1 of my accounts. I wasn't just absent here, I was going to bed late; slacking off on my dog-walking; late for work; etc... It's been 12 weeks since surgery; had my second fill on Friday and I hope I am not being premature when I say, "I think I am at my sweet spot." I've been getting stuck on a fairly regular basis and every time has been my own damn fault. I need to get over the compulsion of having to get that last bite in at whatever cost. The sliming may be fun but getting stuck is painful! I'm at 244 with a total loss of 121 pounds. Twenty-six since surgery. I was stuck for about a month bouncing back and forth from 246 - 250. That finally broke last week. I didn't let it get me down at all. It's all part of the program. Nothing shy of a 10 pound gain is going to get to me. The 244 has significant meaning to me. It is the lowest I got last time around before I gained everything back and I think it was the same number the time before that. My old record of 108 pounds lost has been left in the dust. I've been toying with the idea of going to a plastic surgeon for a consultation but I think I am going to wait until I drop another 25 pounds or so. That should be somewhere around my birthday and I can buy myself surgery as a present. It beats the 3 day stay in the hospital I gave myself last year. Well, my fingers are getting tired. I'll try and spend a little more time here than I have as of late. -
Not going to beat around the bush. I think you are being silly. Relax! It's a vacation. As Ken stated, people that weigh twice as much as you fly every day without issue.

Is this a joke? WTH is going on?!
btrieger replied to JustBreathe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everyone else is commenting on how your surgeon was right and I agree with them. However, it sounds like he is also not giving you the attention that he should be. He should have you under a fluoroscope during fills to make sure everything is in place and working correctly. He also should have suggested counseling or a support group to you. Scout around for a new surgeon. Don't necessarily switch but weigh your options. -

It is good reading and I can totally relate. However, I have tried the food plan thing and it only makes me obsess even more. Different strokes for different folks. -
You imagined right. She was looking hot!! Daris looked great too. Mike looked like he was one of the Village People and Koli looked like a cartoon character.

When does PB/vomiting become bulemia?
btrieger replied to kuurtamo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been doing the same thing but not on a daily basis. Sometimes, I just have to get that last bite in and I know it will hurt but I do it anyways. Then I run to the bathroom or the backdoor and choke it up with a mouthful of slime. What bothers me is that I know enough not to take that last bite or two and there is no real justification but I do it anyways.
