I love hot food. I douse my hot wings with bleu cheese salad dressing. With other spicy foods, I just grin and bear it. You don't necessarily have to "drink" milk. It doesn't hurt to take a "sip" and swish it around in your mouth to soothe the pain.

How long can you stay "stuck"?
btrieger replied to CathyBFromGa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out and have been stuck a few. Getting stuck is almost immediate. Sometimes you have a second to realize what you did wrong right before the pain starts. Basically, the pain and chest tightness you described. It last from a few minutes to a few hours. It sounds like your band tightened up over night. I've read about others that this happens to. Could be stress, hormones, etc... You should definitely call your surgeons office if it persists and get their opinion. Good luck, hopefully it is just "one of those days" -
It's been 3 months for my and I am losing about 9 pounds a month. I had 4 weeks where I lost nothing but just kept my chin up. As long as I don't gain, I am happy.

You may get better advice posting this in the pregnancy forum rather than general. A lot of people stick to certain forums and not all of them. Pregnancy with the Lap-band -

If it makes you skinny like Japanese people; does it also give you dark, wiry, unmanageable hair? -
What do I need to get *before* my surgery next week?
btrieger replied to iJenny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is definitely a girl thing! I just wanted the short list. That way I would know I had everything on the list. If you've been through a c-section; lapband surgery won't even make you blink. My mother whined for 36 years about how much pain I caused her because of her c-section. -

I think I made a mistake!!
btrieger replied to beachcitygirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
People that have plastic surgery and liposuction gain weight temporarily from the swelling and Fluid retention. It will disperse over time. The surgeon should have warned you about this. I've been doing a lot of reading about abdominoplasty -

Not that all of that sugar free stuff isn't good to have but why burden somebody with a list like that when they can go shopping later for that stuff? -

Fill your painkiller prescription and buy Gas-X strips. That's all. You're not having a baby and this really isn't a life-changing ordeal. Relax and try not to overthink things. The surgery is really quite boring. -
Have you ever tried to tell others how great god was without being asked or told somebody they should or shouldn't do something because of god without being asked?

I was getting frustrated running to the bathroom and only passing gas. It kind of reminded me of this old quip: -

4 days and it hurt. My medication constipates me in the first place and I hadn't had any fiber in over 3 months. -
No enemy here. I think they are even more gullible than the rest of the people that buy that god stuff. They are definitely a lot more annoying.

Is there anything you just CANT eat after lap band?
btrieger replied to spoiltmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't found anything I can't eat. The two things I have been told I "should" never eat again are popcorn and carbonated drinks. -
I am in North Fort Worth (Keller) and have a few strawberry Optifasts packets here. I'm willing to give you one to try tomorrow if you are close. Unfortunately they don't have samples at Dr Kim's office or nobody would ever buy the BA crap. :cursing:

Heart Burn...big mistake!!!

Does ice water give you any relief? Have you considered frozen yogurt to try and soothe it? -
Avoid sugar because that is what made you fat in the first place. Other than that, don't worry about dumping. Dumping is something that happens to people that have 80% of their stomach thrown in the garbage and their digestive system rerouted.
-
Don't worry about the surgery. They put you in a pre-op room where you get undressed and put a johnny on; they start an IV and you lay back and watch television. Before you know it, they are waking you up in the post-op room telling you to sit up and eat a cup of crushed ice with a spoon. You will probably never even remember seeing the operating room.

I am not a doctor but unfortunately I know way too much about constipation. If you are going every day, you are NOT constipated. You may have some kind of infection like diverticulitis. I repeat you are NOT constipated if you are going every day. Call your doctor on Tuesday or go to the ER if it is getting worse.
