I applaud those that can do this. I still have an issue with it. I cannot stop until the plate is cleared or I am throwing up. I try and put a lot less on my plate. So when I do clear it, I won't be in pain.

I was not offended. We are all different people and see things very differently. I just want to make it clear to those which are still looking into surgery that not everybody goes through "Hell" and everybody's interpretation of Hell is different. I've had my share of plateaus and knew they would pass in time. If I had got frustrated or agonized over them, it would be devastating because sometimes I, like many am just looking for a reason to give up. I come across a lot more critical than I actually am. I am no stronger willed than most but I try and channel what willpower I do have into staying positive about my health.

Starving and totally over did it!!!!

Don't forget what you are feeling right now. Embrace it and ask yourself, "do I ever want to feel like this again?" Then get back on the bandwagon and keep going. Don't waste your energy on anger and aggravation. Take it to the gym or go for a long walk. We've all been there at some point and this is the point where many of us have just given up. -
WHAT Am I doing wrong? :(

Think of your metabolism as a fire. If you throw some kindling in; it will burn for a short while. If you throw in a good size log, it will burn hotter and longer. Too much wood and you smother the fire. Something like that. -
Looking for Plastic Surgeon in DFW Area

Now I know what "food getting stuck" means
btrieger replied to onenuttynurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds to me like you are definitely too tight. Drinking water should not be a chore. It's been 4 days, any trauma from a fill should have cleared by now. Call your doc and get his opinion. -

I also just noticed you are with Dr Kim as well. David Kellenberger has some referrals for plastic surgeons that specialize in bariatric patients both foreign and domestic. -

I'm right down the street from you in Keller and will be scheduling surgery at about the same time. There were a few posts here a couple of months praising a surgeon in Southlake. I am going to try and dig those up. -
Free Lap-Band Giveaway Extended
btrieger replied to Dr. Duc Vuong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
At the risk of sounding too much like an elitist; the surgery is not very expensive and there are companies out there that specialize in medical loans. And it is half-price in Mexico if you want to take that risk. There are plenty of good and bad surgeons there. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Big difference! Go Christie! Done the death thing here too. Mom took forever to go and dad held on for a month. No fun at all. Fortunately, I will probably be next and won't have to deal with the grief of losing my brother and sisters. Bobbie, stress does all kind of things to your hormones and body. It's easier said than done but sometimes you have to say, "screw the small stuff" and "it's all small stuff.". -
I think I may have given up....

Don't you dare!! You've come way too far to blow it now. Plateaus are a normal part of the weight loss process. Your body needs time to shift things into place. I played with the same 4 pounds for 4 weeks. I smiled every morning and asked the scale if it was done screwing with me. That broke a month ago and I've dropped almost 20 pounds since. You just have to keep your chin up and be patient. I put before and after pictures of myself side by side this afternoon and I am more motivated than ever. Try that. -

I'm posting this here because I don't think enough people read the local forums and also because I think it may be a good idea that others organize something similar in their areas of the globe. I walk this every year with my company and this year it actually means a little more to me after suffering a heart attack last fall. I am proposing that we create our own bandster group to walk this year. It's free; only 5K and god knows we all need the exercise. If we have enough participation, we can look at having t-shirts made to wear during the walk. Below is a link with information about the event: http://www.dallasheartwalk.org What do you think? If interested send me a private message or reply here. Thanks, Bob

You're doing great. Plateaus are a part of the process. Your body needs time to shift things around. Even though you haven't lost weight in a week or so, you may have noticed that clothing is looser in some areas. I recently went through a 4 week plateau and just kept asking my scale if it was done teasing me or not. Your diet sound ok but it couldn't hurt to experiment a little. try eating a few more calories a day and see if that jump starts the weight loss. Also, make sure you are drinking at least 64 ounces of Water daily. This makes more of a difference than most realize. Good luck and keep your chin up! -
Possibly Changing Surgeons in DFW
btrieger replied to lucybugsmama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was having the same kind of issues and it turned out to be one of the office workers. They fired her and my surgery was scheduled immediately following that. You didn't say who your surgeon was was but I am fairly sure it wasn't Dr. David Kim. If you do decide to change surgeons, I suggest going with him. Good luck and try not to get too down about it. You have a whole lifetime ahead of you. -

Jacki, You're doing great. You're losing weight at a good pace and approaching two major goals. All of this without this without that fifth fill. You're right to trust your doctor's opinion. He helped get you this far. My third fill is scheduled for Wednesday. I can still finish a 6" sub bread and all. So, I have no doubt I'm getting it but we've read about a couple of unfills required here recently and I don't look forward to needing one. -
Bzzzt!!!! I have gone through no such thing and I know many others that haven't. I knew exactly what lay ahead of me and kept my chin up throughout. It's frustrating to me when people are negative or ignorant of the process because I cannot imagine letting a stranger cut 5 holes in me and insert foreign objects into my body without knowing everything there is to know about it. I can't imagine how anyone else can. I don't mind the negative posts too much but as I said, I try to avoid them so I don't get infected.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Looking in The Fort Worth TX area
btrieger replied to Sebastia40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in Keller. I'm not much of a mentor but I am considering creating some kind of lapband group in the area that gets together once a month or so for dinner and chat. Yes, I said the "D" word. It's still only under consideration because I am afraid of people keeping track of what/how much others are eating. -
Congrats!! That is my next goal. I'll race you to 90.
-
We're also not here to pat them on the head and say, "good job" while they hurt themselves. I said nothing negative, I merely told the truth. Hopefully it got through to the OP. You can keep babying people that need help and patting them on the head for doing wrong. Meanwhile, I will try to give them the advice and help they require.
-
How dare you?!? One of the questions my PA asks in determining if I need a fill is, "how much food does it take you to be satisfied?" If I didn't eat until I was no longer hungry, I wouldn't be able to answer this question except for, "I dunno."

My surgeon waits a minimum of 6 weeks between surgery and the first fill.
