btrieger replied to echazottes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax and breathe, then walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk... It will go one way or the other. -
Going for Second Fill. What should I ask?
btrieger replied to Ravyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't think of what to ask them but they should be asking you: How much can you eat in one sitting How long after eating are you hungry Are you drinking during your meals Are there any foods that you can't tolerate Are you vomitting Are you feeling nauseous If you aren't being asked this, readily volunteer the information to them. It will help them determine if you need a fill and how much. My second fill was great for a week then I was back to being able to eat a 6" sub. I go for my third tomorrow morning. -
I have never heard of "Fit Bit" but Bodybugg has a cheaper clone called "GoWear Fit" that is made by the same people.

How did you tell your co-workers?
btrieger replied to momofkmk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Screw what anyone else thinks! Not only is yours the only opinion that matters but it is none of their business. I am quite open and if anyone asks, I have no problem telling them. If they don't ask, then I don't tell. Sounds like a Clinton thing. -
Do you need an unfill if you get a tummy tuck?
btrieger replied to blackcherry2002's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Was this recommended Sue or was it of your own accord? I wasn't even thinking about this but it is a great question. -
I try to give the answers that I need to hear. When I get into the emotional eating, I can't do it if it isn't readily available. It is a bit of a snappy reply but it is what works.

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
btrieger replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same thing on both sides as well as my skin in my back and chest feeling like it is being ripped from my body. I attribute the pain to my guts shifting around. This is a self-diagnosis though. I will mention it to surgeon or PA tomorrow and get their opinion. -
Don't keep the food in your house. Problem solved.

I threw a 37 pound bag of dog food over my shoulder the day after surgery (not thinking) and if hurt like a bitch but I didn't do any damage. You should be fine as long as it don't hurt.
-
Do not over-think this. You are not going to be bedridden following surgery. You just need enough to get you through the night.
-
The lapband will not keep you from eating sweets and greasy garbage. The lapband will limit how much you eat but you will have to modify your lifestyle and eat right in order for it to work. If you are not ready to reconsider what your eat, you may want to look at an alternate surgery.

Are you blonde? This is normal. Just kidding. I know I just pissed a hundred people off and I don't care. It's not about drinking Water in the morning, it's about how much you drank that day before. I don't get dizzy but I do get headaches and cramps in the morning if I don't drink enough water the previous day.
-
No problem!! I could have run a mile 2 hours after surgery.

between 800 and 1,500. It all depends on what is takes to satisy you. Not fill but satisfy. It also depends on what you burn daily. Talk to your nutritionist.

While this may work for some. It was so much more exciting to me to see the before picture 9 months later. PS. I am still pissed that they didn't question my license picture in Boston or DFW last week at the airport.

I did great and you are beating the hell out of me. Congrats!! Total: 167 (has been close to 400) Try: 131 LDL: 104 HDL: 37

Congrats!! What a great feelings isn't it?!? Don't fool yourself. Anybody that has lost over 100 pounds has worked for every pound. There is no luck involved.

You only have to enter what you eat. It does the other stuff on its own. Below is copied from the Bodybugg link that I posted earlier: The bodybugg system uses a patented process to measure calorie burn. The process is based on: Motion: The armband contains an accelerometer that measures motion from multiple perspectives. Steps: The accelerometer counts steps by measuring the distinct patterns created by running or walking. Galvanic skin response: When you sweat, your skin becomes more electrically conductive. This measurement helps the device understand how active you are. Skin temperature: There’s an electronic thermometer inside your armband that monitors how hot you are. Heat flux: When you move, your muscles produce heat. Your armband measures the heat that’s flowing from your body into the environment.

It is what is commonly referred to here as "slime" and not saliva at all. Saliva is created in the mouth. Slime is a mucus created by the esophagus to aid food down. When there is a blockage, it has nowhere to go but up.

Congrats!! It is definitely worth every penny of it.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
btrieger replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I like "cheat". It makes the point stand out. If the doctor puts you on a 10 days pre-op diet and you cheat 2 of those days; you have just cheated 20% of the time. Let's say for the sake of argument that you have 60 years left to live. 20% of that is 12 years. So, is it ok to cheat for 12 years?? We are all going to make bad decisions throughout our lives whether it be food choices; love; whatever... The pre-op diet is relatively short. There is plenty of time for making mistakes when it is over. -
It sounds to me like you should get a fill because you described your dinner as large. What you didn't say was what your dinner was comprised of. Was there a lot of meat; starch; veggies; etc...? It's not just how much we eat that matters. It is what we eat as well. meats and other Proteins satisfy us longer and keep our hunger at bay.

2nd fill today and it was informative and I think productive too
btrieger replied to Katy517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon and PA are always very informative. It makes it a lot easier. Otherwise, I'd feel like I was on an assembly line or something. This is the first I've heard of the 14cc band not holding 14ccs. I've seen people post here about haveing 11 and 12 ccs in their 10cc bands. My second fill was to 7cc in my 14cc band and I thought I had hit my sweet spot already. A week later I was able to finish a 6" sub. I get my third fill in 2 days from a new PA in my surgeon's office. If she hurts me, I will kick her. The PA that usually does them is great. -
Applebees is my new best friend!
btrieger replied to katyp1203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most restaurant soups are very high in sodium. Don't do it every day. Cambell's has a line of heart healthy low sodium soups. I add No-Salt to them and they are just as good as really soup. -
How important are the rules really?
btrieger replied to SavvyCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this a joke? SC is still posting as if she doesn't have multiple accounts to start trouble?
