  1. Am I the only one that noticed that she said her intestines acted up? Apparently everything went down OK. It doesn't sound band related to me at all. Perhaps a stomach bug. I eat Mexican at least twice a week and have had no issues except with soft corn tortillas. I am super tight at the moment and had a chicken enchilada and refried Beans for lunch yesterday without an issue.
  2. I barely remember being rolled to the operating room. I was watching Private Benjamin on the TV on the prep room and next thing know, I was being awoken after surgery.
  3. I suggest you journal everything for a least a couple of months to ensure yourself that you are estimating correctly. Also, about restaurants. Not all of us have families or others living in our homes to share our meals with. I love cooking but it is really inconvenient when living alone. Who in their right mind is going to waste 45 minutes to an hour cooking a 1/2 cup of food? And if I cook a full meal; should I eat the same thing all week or throw the majority of the food out? Restaurant avoidance is not a reality to some of us. Instead there are different guidelines: Don't eat at any restaurant that has a drive-thru Have the waiter take your glass away when he delivers the meal Ask for a to-go box as soon as the meal arrives Place at least half or your meal in the box before you start to eat I also avoid soups in restaurants because they tend to be a bowl of salt Nowadays, I am getting 3 or 4 meals out of a single restaurant entree.
  4. Are they overweight or morbidly obese? I'm going to get some slack for saying this but I think anyone under 25 is too young to be having bariatric surgery. At that point in life; how many diets or programs could you have possibly tried? Surgery should be a last resort after all else fails.

    protein shakes/mix??? confused???

No. Shakes are not Clear liquids. Clear liquids are broths, coffee, crystal light, etc...

    What have you lost?

Looking in mirror. I found it. I've lost a blood hound and seven chihuahuas.

I love Optifast. It is like dessert. You have to get them a distributor though. Your doctor may be a distributor. * those on a budget think it is expensive but it really isn't.
  8. There are literally hundreds on this site that weight more than have had lapband surgery and weighed more than 400 pounds. Check out this forum:200 Lbs+ - LAP-BAND That is the "over 200 pounds to lose forum"
  9. Tori, Congrats!! Just so it doesn't hit you by surprise. You wake up a little cramped and sore all over on Saturday when the IV fluids leave your body. I guess this means we will see you at the July support meeting in Colleyville?
  10. You can take a loan. There are loan companies out there that specialize in medical loans. If you have enough credit on your credit card, you may also charge the surgery.

    Cravings

Shely, If you are just starting the process, do NOT treat it like a diet. Try to eat smart but don't rob yourself of your favorite foods. Eat whatever you'd like but in moderation. Eat smaller portions than you usually do; cut it small and chew the hell out of it. Try to stay away from fast food and don't drink regular soda; milk or juice.

    Cravings

Immediately following surgery your hunger and cravings will probably dissipate. Try brushing your teeth when the cravings are strong. Nobody ever wants to soil their freshly brushed teeth.

    Down 20 pounds!!!!! :)

Congrats!! Next time you start to get depressed or frustrated, think about how good you feel right now.

    Hey guys

The is nothing to be afraid of. Unless you have a really low pain threshold there is no pain. Very uncomfortable gas for a couple of days but not bad enough where I'd call it pain.
  15. If you haven't drank any water in 18 hours the cramping you are feeling is probably dehydration. Your system requires water whether it hurts or not. If the water does come back up, try eating crushed ice a little spoonful at a time.

    Backseat of small car?

Most of us are back to normal after 4 days or so. If you can do it now, you should be able to do it 10 days post-op.
  18. I was drinking Protein shakes an hour after surgery. Slimfast shouldn't hurt.
  19. I think #3 was my magic fill. I started with 3 cc in my band. Felt no restriction but managed to get stuck. Had 2 cc added for first, second and third fills bringing me to my current 9ccs. I can only drink shakes in the morning and the amount I can eat progresses throughout the day. I think I like it.

A big Texas Howdy to you!!

I'd show you the secret handshake but then I'd have to kill you.
  21. It's not what I eat but if I can eat. I can't touch solids in the morning but can drink a protein shake with no problem. I can eat about a quarter cup at noon and then a half cup at dinner. I think I like it.
  22. He didn't give you a sheet of paper with what to eat and drink? A few people are on Clear liquids following surgery but I think most are on any liquids including yogurt and Jello.

    Am I too old?

It's not the insurance company exactly. Your employer chooses what the plan will include and exclude.
  24. I have 9 cc and am not sure if I am too tight or perfect.
