  1. Stacie, I had a heart attack 3 days before my 45th birthday. It may have been the best thing that ever happened to me. It was the kick in the ass I needed to change. By the way, I think mine would have been considered mild. I only had to spend 2.5 days in the hospital but trust me, the pain says there is no mild heart attacks. I can take pain and this was much more than I could handle. I have to go look up a post for Christie. I was kind of frank but I honestly think that is what whiners need.

When will my head catch up

I've never had my weight listed on my drivers license. MA, MD nor TX.
  3. News: Betsy put an update on Facebook. Not a heart attack, it was angina and he is being released momentarily. I went for my 4th fill appointment today and between my PA and me decided that I am at my sweet spot and did nothing. I scheduled my next appointment for 2 months out. I also had my after picture taken for the wall of shame. Leigha, if you ever go to the Colleyville office again, look for me. Used some tough love on a whiner the other day and had 3 people reply that I was rude. Not bad numbers considering I got private messages from 5 people saying, "right on" It's not what some people want to hear but I think it is what most of us need to hear.

    Had my first fill today!

Congrats! How much did you get and are you feeling any restriction? I went for my 4th today and decided that I am perfect without it. Scheduled my next check up 2 months out.
  5. Diet checklist: Going to bed hungry? Nope! Foregoing foods I love? Nope! Going to quit when goal is reached? Nope! Counting calories or carbs religiously? Nope! Hating life? Nope! Nope, not a diet.

    Swimming after surgery

I was told to wait 2 weeks but this is definitely a question to ask your surgeon.
  7. Welcome and keep reading. There is no rush. Read the good and the bad. The Lapband isn't for everyone. Those that refuse to follow rules have little or no luck. You have to be ready to make some minor lifestyle changes and not expect miracles to happen over night. If you plan on having insurance pay for it then go ahead and sign up now. You'll have a waiting period where you can do some research and soul-searching. Any time up until you're on the operating table, you can pull out if you aren't comfortable. Astrasmom did a good job at giving reason not to get bypass. I wouldn't dream of it myself but if you are interested, you should probably read those boards at ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND also. Good luck and be patient, you have the rest of your life to decide what is right for you.
  8. Christie, you're scaring me and I think life is a joke. I have an appointment for my 4th fill tomorrow and I am not sure if I am too tight, too loose or just right. Oh shit, I'm Goldilocks. Do you guys go to fill appointments when you don't think you need adjusting?
  9. I had to have surgery to get mine.

    SMALL bites.... ?

That is idiotic if you ask me and you did. That would be grazing and you could eat for 24 hours straight doing that no matter how tight you were. I was told to put down the fork until after I swallow and to eat only until I am no longer hungry or 30 minutes has passed.
  11. First thing you should do is hit the CAPS LOCK key and shut that off. It is hard on the eyes and rude. Second, you should rethink whether you are ready for lapband surgery or not. If you can't follow a diet for 2 days; how can you be expected to modify your eating habits for the rest of your life? If you conclude that you are ready, then stop cheating and get back on the liquid diet. Take an aspirin or motrin for the head ache.
  12. All of the above will help with the exception of prayer. Congrats on your progress thus far!! You didn't say how many calories or protein you consume on an average day. You can try upping your protein and calorie intake a little and see what happens. If you start to gain, back down the calories. Good luck! Unfortunately, there is no exact science to it. PS. I have been told to take a day or 2 off between weight lifting sessions. I've also been told it doesn't matter.
  13. Oops!! I missed that question when it was asked a month ago.

The only unflavored protein powder have found so far in Unjury (UNJURY is Medical Quality Whey Protein Isolate. Best Tasting Whey Protein Powder. Most Trusted Whey Protein Powder Supplement. Taste the difference)

I haven't tried too many though. I love Optifast and have been sticking with it.

Thanks for the kind words. I shoot from the hip and tell it like I see it but in the end, I am just another Bandster and a relatively new one at that.

  14. Ack!! Sorry Mrs Smith, I just noticed your question in my notices about unflavored protein powder.

  15. I'm 4 months new to this and have only had 3 fills but my band seems to get looser over time.
  16. I am very tight in the morning as well. I usually have a 6 oz yogurt or a shake if the yogurt isn't working. I still live by the old adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and never skip it.

    Soup, good or bad?

Band or no band; almost all soups are loaded with sodium. If you have a history of high blood pressure or fluid retention you should pay special attention to the amount of sodium in the soups you're eating.
  19. Looking good!! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Down 34 lbs in less than a month?

Congrats on your progress!! You are going to have the same amount of excess skin no matter if you lose all of your weight in ten days or ten years.

    SMALL bites.... ?

I tried the eraser thing but couldn't. I cut food smaller than I used to and chew until it is almost liquid.

1 month post op weight gain

Do NOT have the food in the house and you won't crave it as much and when you do, it won't be there for you to devour. Try to keep just enough food for 6 meals or so and remember if you eat tomorrows lunch you will have to either go out or go without. It's time to start playing a mental game with yourself.
  25. I tried to ignore this but can't. You either heard your doctor wrong or he is a total idiot. Drinking a mere 2 ounces every 15 minutes means that it would take you over 2 hours to drink a half liter bottle of water. That is retarded!!!
