Got my first fill was 2 days ago..Question
btrieger replied to Stacey627's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Water is more important than most people realize. Water performs many functions but one of the most important is carrying waste and toxins out of your system Is the reason you are drinking so little physical or mental? Could you force yourself to drink the water? If you can't drink 64 ounces of water in a day, you are too tight. -
Do I need a little unfill?
btrieger replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you need a little unfill. I am really tight in the morning but if I couldn't drink, I'd be at the surgeon's door the minute his office opened. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

I may be open to putting a dress or a bikini on for laughs but you ain't ever getting me into a pair of pumps or stilettos. -
5 Days - still nauseous. Advice?
btrieger replied to mattinfll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me to call his office if I got nauseous at all. Make the call to your surgeon's office. It's free. Other than that, you talk of Jello and Popsicles, have you tried diluting the Protein powder in warm broth as kcarny said? The cold may be bringing on the nausea. -
Am I the only one that thinks this is a diet?
btrieger replied to pickles123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stacy, get out of the dump before you step on a dirty diaper. Keep your head up and be positive. Make the changes that are going to be required at your own pace and stop watching the scale! With restriction, the changes will come naturally. I have been banded 4 months and I believe I am at my sweet spot after 3 fills. I can't eat much. So, I have to make sure I get enough Protein in before I eat anything else. I use to weigh my foods and read labels and log everything until I was comfortable with my ability to do it by eye. Just stay positive and patient and you'll be fine. -
I lost 95 pounds in the 5 months leading up to my surgery. We are all different.

btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can finish a half of a 6" sub. I've cut it down to about once every 2 weeks I wanted to see pictures on Leigha in those shoes. Not just some stupid shoes only. If I had boobs, I'd be more afraid tipping over in those shoes than looking like a stripper. Stacie, during the heart attacks; I had no chest pain at all. Both arms felt like I was holding them over a fire. The moral of the story is: Don't wait for chest pain to occur. If something hurts real bad and you don't know what it is, get to the hospital. -
You didn't gain a lot of weight. So, you are on track. There is no track. everyone is different and as long as you are losing and feeling good. Then keep going. Congrats on your progress. You're doing great!!

Did anyone cheat on the pre -op diet
btrieger replied to TRACIENEW1217's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tracie, I come across a little harsh to some but honestly, I do it trying to help. What I said was meant as, "get back on your liquid diet. It's only 2 weeks and the changes you have to make for the lapband are forever. I am assuming you are taking surgery seriously and the last paragraph was the crux of my response. It took a heart attack at 44 to wake me up. A stranger being frank with you is a lot less painful trust me. As for creature1975 saying that I am always rude; well, rude is relative. It all depends on how something is interpreted. She should look for my picture on Dr Kim's wall next time she's in Colleyville. Bob -
to band or not to band.....
btrieger replied to EGsimi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go with your gut [sic]. If you aren't positive you are ready for surgery, then put if off. There is no hurry. The Lapband isn't going away any time soon. You can combine traditional and the Lapband though. I lost half of my excess weight, 95 pounds in the five months leading up to surgery. I just cut back on my portions and started walking 30 - 60 minutes a day. I went through with banding as a fail safe so I don't gain the weight back ... again. -
The majority of the digital scales will go to 350 or more. Don't pay too much for something fancy because hopefully you won't need a special scale in the near future.

Increased exercise and weight gain
btrieger replied to Jess55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do NOT let a little weight gain frustrate you. Your weight will fluctuate both ways when you change up your routine. How much water are you consuming? If you are not getting enough, your body will start retaining fluid. How much protein are you getting? You should be eating at least 50 grams of protein a day. That is the fuel that keeps you metabolism burning. WW points make sure you keep calories, carbs and fat low but they don't help on protein. -
Don't be silly. There is NO god!

I get them almost every other day. It is my cue drop everything, I've had enough. They don't last long. Maybe 5 minutes or so.

Having some discomfort when eating
btrieger replied to fit2-btied's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't eat until you're full. Eat until you are satisfied or not hungry any longer. When you quit eating, are you still hungry or is your boredom your queue that you've had enough? -
How many of you had insurance cover your Lap Band?
btrieger replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved by Aetna the first time but every case is different depending on the insurance company and the requirements. -

The leak looks like it is right near one of those holes. Is there any chance he nicked the port with an instrument during installation? -
Welcome Rita! I favor that full feeling following a fill. (say that 5 times fast) Even if you are not hungry, make sure to get 50 grams of Protein and 64 ounces of Water daily to stave off malnutrition.

Having some discomfort when eating
btrieger replied to fit2-btied's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very tight in the morning and can usually only do yogurt. By after noon I am fine and can eat close to a half cup of food. Is every meal uncomfortable to you? My PA gave me the go ahead to drink Water right up until I eat. I think that helps because I didn't like the feeling of dry food in my stomach. Erika, it is supposed to take you 20 - 30 minutes to eat. That is one of the points of the lapband. To slow down our eating. -

btrieger replied to pickles123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the kind words. Losing weight fast or slow is still losing weight. There is no hurry. Life is not a race and if it is, do you know anyone that is looking forward to the finish line? A positive attitude is a far more powerful tool than the Lapband and they work great together. You're doing great. Give yourself more credit. You lost 50 pounds with a broken band. That's more than a lot do with a perfect band. -

Is it uploaded onto the web anywhere? If so, you can just click the pictures of the mountains and put the URL to it. I usually upload mine to my profile here and then link them. -

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/did-anyone-cheat-pre-op-diet-117727/ The OP replied back to me in a private message but it was all in CAPS so I deleted it without reading it. I'm guessing it was probably a thank you or an apology.
