Simple answer; yes. If we could not do the things that we enjoy, including drinking alcohol following surgery; many of us would not have even considered surgery. I've cut it down quite a bit and only drink every 2 or 3 weeks but I enjoy it and it has not interfered with my weight loss.

Today is my 1 year bandiversary!!!

Happy bandiversary and congrats!!! -
8. Need an excuse to get dressed up on Sunday mornings. 9. Justify their hate of other people and cultures. 10. Because everyone else is doing it.

Cheri, I understand. I have no sympathy but I do understand. I think it is an insult to my intelligence when somebody says, "God bless you" to me or I have to look at "In God We Trust" all over my money. Believers seem to have no sympathy for those of us who know there is no god. Why should we have any sympathy for those that think there is and not speak our minds on the subject? I don't go god-bashing in any forums here except this one. It was created for ranting and raving. I think the threads that are going to offend you are pretty obvious before you even open them to read. If you don't read them, your day won't be ruined. There is a xtian bandster forum where they have nothing to says but nice thins about your God.

My surgeon waits a minimum of 6 weeks after surgery for the first fill. If you don't lose at least 30 pounds you can never get a fill. Just kidding. One surgeon in a thousand may have a silly rule about not filling you if you gain weight. Let's look at the truth though. The people that gain weight need the fills the most.

Welcome aboard and congrats on taking time to think about surgery before rushing into things.

How many lbs is everyone losing on average per week...
btrieger replied to jen36's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was losing 3lbs steadily up until surgery and 2 lbs a weeks since surgery. -
I think I've read every post on this site and can't recall anyone saying they passed out during a fill. I think somebody may have been trying to scare you or looking for attention. It is a huge-ass needle but if you don't look at it there is nothing to fear. Most PAs/nurses numb the area before stabbing you. I'm not into tattoos but I am willing to bet that a fill is far less painful and certain that it takes a lot less time.

Attn Smokers: Have any Pre or Post Ops NOT been required to quit smoking?
btrieger replied to Taterbugsmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made sure my surgeon wasn't a smoking nazi before signing up. I ended up quitting 5 months before surgery anyways. I have since started again about 2 months after surgery. My PCP is pissed but my surgeon and PA both understand that you can't change everything at the same time. I smoke now but I have to pounce a little. Not at all of the evils of smoking but it does slow the healing process and can affect the anesthesia. You should try to quit 2 weeks prior to surgery and then if you must start again, wait at least 2 weeks after surgery. -
Congrats!! I've had to hang my head and leave in front of a hundred people or so after waiting in line for an hour or more. I don't embarrass easily but I did that time.

We talk about Santa Claus, vampires and honest politicians too. What does that mean?

Do you only eat three meals a day?
btrieger replied to lauragshsu's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I preach a lot. So, I won't even pretend I don't but if you are only going to have one meal a day, you should make it breakfast. Even if it is only a Protein shake. It really is the most important meal of the day. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Congrats on the century mark Shammah and Crystl!!!!! That is always the 2nd best goal. The best being your final goal. Leigha, I don't have nearly as much patience as the guy in those e-mails but I was cracking up reading them. BTW, that looks like my cat. -

There need to be more options. I snack but not every day. I usually eat 3 small meals. -
Need a support group in Fort Worth!
btrieger replied to Heatherlee07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A few of us have mentioned starting something casual but nothing yet. The only group I know of and attend is held at my surgeons office and is not open to everyone. -
Who do you think wrote that silly book? Here's a hint, it was humans.

Contact your insurance company and find out what the requirements are. You may need to get a recommendation or letter from your PCP primary to finding a surgeon.

As a wise man once said...MMMMM, BEER!!!
btrieger replied to x96oun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink Guinness but got the ok from my PA/nutritionist first. It doesn't give me gas but I am drinking a lot slower than I used to. -
Is post-op diet as hard as pre-op diet??
btrieger replied to feelfat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is barely any appetite for the first week post-op. It's a weird feeling having to force yourself to eat just to get your Protein in. -

Wow. I guess you do get faster promotions if you weigh less. I always thought that was bunk. Congrats!! moobs November 6, 2007 Urban Word of the Day A combination of the words "man" and "boobs." This is what happens when fat gathers in a male's chest area, and gives him the appearance of having breasts. Usually seen in overweight males, but can strangely also occur in men who are not really overweight. "Those moobs are quite sizable." "Indeed." -
Feeling like a total failure.
btrieger replied to scarroll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor will be happy with your progress and want to help further. Not only because you'll be healthier but because you are another of his success stories. It's all an attitude thing. You are looking for the bad and finding it. Look for the good and you will find even more of it. Do you have before pictures? Take some current pictures and put them side by side for inspiration. -
What my Dr. trying to hide?
btrieger replied to shelley1057's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 14cc band is perfect with 9cc in it. At least for now. I get drunk a lot faster now but it is because I've dropped over 1/3 of my body weight and cut it back to every 3 weeks or so instead of every 2 or 3 nights. -
It's not good - need surgery again!
btrieger replied to shilohgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear. It is more common that a lot of us would like to think. If it because of a defective product then Allergan should be made to cover the costs. You won't have to go through it all again. Probably just the post-op diet. Check out the complication forum and get more info there. -

At least nobody aired your dirty laundry about eating Subway. She wasn't totally wrong but I think she misunderstood what we were saying. We weren't encouraging puking but saying it is going to happen and you may as well enjoy when it does.
