Well you have me worried now about my coverage, I do know that I had choice between aetna pos, hmo, or ppo and the only one of them that covered lap band was pos. I an hoping that she didn't enter the wrong code or something when she called but she did tell me that most insurance do not cover it when I asked about it the first time. But look up carterlapband.com and I have been talking to Mia here and she has been very nice ( nice looking too)! He does the sleeve And the band and after reading up he is an excellent dr

Bill, I don't know where you are located but I am in dfw. I had my dr.'s office call for me, a few days later she said all is covered! I have aetna pos and it is based out of El Paso, but I also work at Lockheed Martin and we have damn good insurance. The last company I worked for had bcbs and they covered it but my company did not "add" that to the cxoverage so that may be your case, but I have not contacted aetna personally, I have let ther nurse do it all for me. How long has it been since you contacted them? I am going through dr richard carter in arlington. I can get his number and the girls will call your insurance and verify it for you.

It is not the insurance that is pushing me, they will cover either one that I decide. My main concern is the dr and how many he has done but I guess he just just stating that lap band is a great surgery and that the sleeve there is not really enough information on the long term results. He did say that we can sit down and discuss both options and I can choose which ever one that I want but what if I go through all of this for the last couple months and the dr does not have enough experience with the sleeve, wonder if I will have to start all over again with another doctor

I really don't know if my insurance will cover the dr in mexico and honestly I don't think I can get a passport and all that bs done right now. I am somewhat concerned about my dr, I initially went to him for lap band and he is one of the best in dfw area but I have no idea about the skleeve, b ut I do know that he is a bariatric surgeon for a long time. Ij spoke with him and he was really pushing me towards the band and giving me all of the side effects and what not on the sleeve. I am thinking of calling around but since I have done all of my nutritionalist and all of the other required tests in his office I don't know if I will be able to switch. I still have time, but I still have to make sure I am not the first few sleeves that he has done.

How are you liking it so far? Anything that you wish you knew before you had it done, how uis the pain. Thanks for the insight, good luck on making it to your goals

    Choice's????

Abbe thanks for the link, I have been on gastricsleevesupport.com and didn't know about the sleeve talk. I really appreciate all of the replys everyone here has given me, it is a life changing decisiuon and I do not want to choose the wrong one, either way I will have to do all I can to make it work. Thanks again to all for the support!
  10. I have a hard hard question and decision to make, I am 1 week away from my final nutritionalist visit and trying to figure out if I want to do either the Gastric Sleeve or Lap Band. I am approved for both at 100% and I my surgon does both but I am soooooooooooooooo lost. I have done so much reading and I see that the sleeve looses weight really fast and the band is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I have a good friend that has has the band for almost a year and he eats more than I do!!!!! I am discouraged because of him because we are the same size and hasnt lost but 10lbs and I do better than he does with atkins. HELP, I will be down twice as long as lap band but the weight loss is twice as fast, It is not reversable and cannot go back, the hormone that produces hunger signals is gone...........Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM ABOUT TO PICK THE SLEEVE

    Choice's????

Elfie, how well are you doing with the band? Any major problems or vomiting issues I have read about? I just don't know, I don't want to go through the surgery and wish I had done the sleeve. I also don't want to wait for 3 months to get a fill and gain weight while I am waiting for one, but I think that I am hoping for fast weight loss with the sleeve and scared I am going to have to wait for weight to come off for a few months if I get banded, maybe I am wrong I dunno, I hear and read so many conflicting stories about the band and I am just having a hard time going that direction. I am doing my research on here about the band and it is very encouraging and makes me really want to give it a try. I will keep on reading, I still have to to decide

    Choice's????

I have mentally decided that I want the sleeve, after reading countless hours on what the side effect are of each one I really want to go with the sleeve. Problem is the amout of down time, I will have to wait a few extra months to save up enough time off to get it done but lapband I can get as soon as I get approved. I know there are wonderful things and a lot of happy bandsters, I saw a friend this weekend that had it done a couple years ago and she looks great. I know that the sleeve is a better than the band for maintanance reasons but in the end I have to be commited to what ever I decide to do, both my parents had bypass 10 years ago and they have put a lot of there weight back on. Thanks for listening to me!
  13. I have a 3 month req. for the surgery and getting really nervous. I have a few problems though 1) I cannot get on a set diet because a I keep thing that I am getting the band and I will lose it then but I know that I have to get in shape and eat god. 2A) I have been doing a ton of reading on the verticle sleeve (Gastric Sleeve) and I cannot figure out what direction to take with the surgery because the insurance covers both 100%. Does anyone have a reccomendation on which one to get
  14. I would like to say hello to everyone here, I have been doing my research and lurking o here for a while. I have gone to 2 of my 3 required supervised visits and have all of my psyc, blood work, and physical tomorrow. I have my last visit the 3rd of december and have no idea how long it takes to get the procedure done after that, the nurse did say that Aetna is extremely fast at approvals so that is great. So hello all!!!! Keep up the good work
