My back problem is probably only arthritis which runs in the family. Everytime my mother comes up with a medical issue, I usually tell her "Thanks a lot Mom, one more thing I have to look forward to!!" So this is just one of those things. I will try a chiropractor first and if that doesn't work I will try the physio thing. As far as pain relief my Doc told me to take Tylenol Arthritis because I told her that because of the band, I can't take ibuprofen on a daily basis. It was kinda funny to see the X-ray tech react. After I told her what it was she told me she was relieved. She said sometimes they see things that were forgotten in the patients after they have had surgery, like medical instruments. So she has to be careful when she questions the patients.

OK so I went for an X-Ray today because of lower back pain. I don't think I ever mentioned it before but when I woke up in the recovery room after the lap band surgery, I was in terrible pain. The really weird thing was that my worst pain was in my lower back....not the incision, not my insides.... my lower back!!!! I was given an injection for pain in the recovery room because of the pain in my back. Anyhooo, the pain in my back has become progessively worst. So I went to my family physician and she ordered X-Rays of my lumbar (lower) spine. The X-Ray tech had a very panic sticken look on her face after the first X-Ray, She asked me if I had something on me like a wire or if I had some kind of surgery. After feeling myself up under the hospital gown, I realized what she was talking about. I told her that yes I have had surgery and it was called lap-band surgery and that I did not know that X-Rays of the lower spine would cover the area of the port. The X-Rays were done on a digital machine so I asked her if I could see the images. After all the pics were taken she let me see them. They looked just like the photos on pamplets I had seen. It was sooooo kewl. It was a reality check, like they really did this to me and I asked and paid for it. It's a reality check

No hunger and nothing but water for me for 7 days post op. I had swelling (of the stomach) after surgery and lost of pain with it so only water and liquid codeine for 7 days. Lost 10 pounds the first week.

At the gym, I pick the elliptical over the treadmill anytime. It took a while to get used to the eilliptical but everyday I could spend more and more time on it. I would like to own one but I keep thinking of the expensive treadmill we own that is never used. Actually that's not true, it makes a very good clothes line.

LOL, not that I know of. He may still be upset with me for seeing someone else, the Doc in Ottawa.

About taxes, I called my accountant before the surgery for advice on how to pay for the surgery (use savings as opposed to financing). He told me to document the kilometers travelled, and all receipts pertaining to the surgery, Dr appointments, hotel receipts, meal receipts etc. All of which can be used to claim for income tax purposes. Not sure if it's a provincial of federal law but anything over 3% of your gross income is tax deductable.

Saskatoon Saskatchewan girl in need of answers

Yup, in Mississauga, Ontario -
Sorry to hear about all your trouble. I kinda blame Dr M though, even though you do lurve him. He should have stood his ground with you. He's the Doc, the expert, not you!!! So Dr M. is going to have to learn with this one and you are the one suffering. Hope your feeling better soon

Oh yes the last supper syndrome, I was so tired of gorging I couldn't wait for the pre-op diet.

It's so sad what we are doing to our environment. We have great tasting perch around here but there is an advisory not to eat it more than once a month if you are pregnant, you can eat it a little more often you're not pregnant but who would want to.....

Aw!!! you said before I could. Only one lab tech per site please. Just kidding. -
OK I'll bite, what's in their blood. Did I miss anything?
-
Wow, Good perk. Although I got a fill in Ottawa by a Dr trained by Dr C. It cost me $75. He was very skilled, one try and he didn't hurt me. No advantage there as far as I can see.

Hey JLB, I was banded in Mississauga by Dr Mumford (same office as Dr C.) I don't regret having the surgery there but from what I have read the TO clinic seems much more organized with the fills and support groups. The only support I feel I have is from this web site and if I hadn't met Argon and Cloe the day of my surgery I would not have been informed about this site. I truly feel that the surgeons, whether in Mississauga or the TLBC clinic are very concientious, skilled and caring surgeons, the better choice is the TLBC clinic as far as support post op. Good Luck

So many things can elevate your WBCs or as us Canadians say Leucocyte count. All that changed when we went to SI (System International) so it's no longer White Blood Cell Count, it's Leucocyte count. And yes breaking out can actually elevate it but so could so many other things. Unless you are experiencing symptoms, not much to worry about.
