  1. Argon, Glad to hear that it will be easier for you. I couldn't believe you had to travel so far and I was complaining of a measly 6 hour drive

Yoda, Did you have to go to spy school? I think when I retire, I would like to do something different. I could be a Private Investigator. My handle could be Wheezy P.I. I knew someone that did that. She was hired by companies, as an assistant or secretary to people they would suspect fraud or various other infractions. It just sounds so cool and dangerous.

You all have such interesting lives. I am afraid to say it but I was born in the hospital I work in. The only time I lived away from the city I'm from is when I went to college. I too am impressed with the variety of occupations. My occupation...Charge Technologist of the Biochemistry Lab in the hospital I was born in.....true!!! Although, I would love to be a professional spy
  4. Argon, I too have an ex I would like to thank. Have you tried contacting the supplier of the Lap-Band to see if they could help you find someone to do your fills. I still have the pamphlet they gave me. The supplier is Minogue Medical Inc., they are in Montreal and the number is 1-800-665-6466. Maybe they could persuade Dr B. to help you if he uses the same type of band. Can't hurt to try. Just a thought....., did you offer to pay a rate for the fills with Dr B. The fee for the surgery included the fills. Dr B would have to this for you for nothing. It may be worth it for you to pay. I'm sure the cost for your travel is much more than it would cost for an office visit. It's worth a try.

Welcome Green. Good Luck with your surgery on Thursday. I haven't had a fill yet, It's scheduled for Oct 5th. I'm not nervous about it. But maybe I should be, should I? I really think you should bite the bullet and know your weight. As someone previously stated, you will be encouraged when you see that number go down. For a couple of years, I was like you. During my physicals, I asked them not to tell me what I weighed. Now that the weight is coming off I really enjoy seeing that number decrease. It's motivating
  6. I guess I'm a Pb and a slime virgin. I don't even know what Pb stands for but I can guess. It's the chemical symbol for lead, right? lol OK I confess, I work in a Biochemistry lab, so every acronym I relate to chemical formulas.
  7. OK THIS IS IT. IT'S THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER. A NEW BEGINNING FOR EVERYONE. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE 8 lbs, Argon you can do it. We should call this thread THE 8 LB CLUB:scared: + + + = 8 I made my appointment for my first fill. Oct 5th. 6 weeks post surgery should have been the last week in Sept. but Dr Mumford was not available then. Does the Dr do the first fill? When I met Argon and Cloe in the Dr's office I was sure that Marie did the fills. I have to say that I am really enjoying all of you. Your words of encouragement, your jokes and laughter. Poking fun while being empathetic. Thank You

I also have never watched Lost. I can't wait for the season premier of Gray's Anatomy and House. You would think that after working in a hospital all day, I would'nt want to watch sitcoms about people who work in hospitals. There is a Dr McDreamy that works in our E.R. and I don't know why he hasn't made a move on me yet!! lol.

Good luck Mandi with the 199 lb goal. That sounds like a cool place to work. I work in a hospital and they are not big on incentives, the laziest people are treated the same as anyone else. If someone is chronically late, we all get a memo about tardiness. The only thing that keeps us going is self satisfaction that we are doing a good job. So it's great to here that some employers actually recognise acheivements. Are you planning to join Dan is Ottawa next month?

    Starving

Thanks for all of the great advice. Jack, everytime I hear the grumblings, I will always remember that the grumblings are only the distant muttering of Hungry Dragons complaining that they are no longer in charge of my life! THANK YOU

    Starving

Speeking of hunger. Since the surgery, I have a weird hunger feeling. It seems the lower part of my stomach is grumbling all the time. It's screeming feed me, but I don't think that I'm really hungry. Weird AH? That's my Canadian coming out of me AH? The other weird thing that happens and I've heard some of you speak about it. I'ts like the food gets stuck half way down the eosophagus (not sure of the spelling) and it feels like it may want to come back up. Is this a symptom that the band is actually doing it's job? It sure make you slow down and learn to avoid certain foods.
  13. I seem to be able to eat more and more, so I may need to go for a fill maybe sometime late September. How soon after the surgery did you all go for your first fill?
  14. Hey Yoda, I just had a handful of crunchies and yes they were cheezy. Any Kid would love to imagine they were Bobby Orr. He was one of the greatest. That's why we named our puppy after him, although she is female, so she is Bobbie, not Bobby. Our cat is named Austin, after Austin Powers. I was told when I bought the cat, 8 years ago that she was male, so my son and my husband named it Austin. I took "it" to the vet when "it" was about 7 weeks old, the vet informed me that our little boy was in fact a girl. The vet asked me if I wanted to change her name, I said no, we were already used to calling her Austin. I doesn't matter anyway because since then she has lost her MOJO. We seem to have a gender problem in this family. Thank God it is only extends our pets. I hope HA HA! NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!
  15. Cloe, I think running after all those sheep is exercise enough! Don't forget to post some pictures. Neenah, I have a puppy you could have instead of the kiddies! My puppy, Bobbie, named after Bobbie Orr, is a handful. But she is so cute even when she is being bad:faint: Yoda, here are your crunchies, CRUNCH, CRUNCH!!!! Hope you enjoy them, they are calorie free. lol :hungry:

    Argon's Activities

Thanks Yoda and Argon. I am feeling 100% better. Dr Mumford figured that my stomach swelled and that my band was way too tight. The first week the only thing I could tollerate was sips of Water. I had a lot of pain with it. Last Thursday was the first day I was pain free all day. He said that it was like a sprained ankle and that the only was to reduce the swelling was to give it a rest. Now that I can eat, I'm afraid to overeat. Argon, I seem to remember you writting that until the first fill, that any weight loss is a bonus. Did any of you feel restriction before the first fill? I seem to be able to eat more and more as each day passes. Is this normal? And when is it reccommended to have the first fill, is it at 6 weeks? The one major symtom I have is often food seems to get stuck on the way down. Is this symptom considered a good thing, that the band is working? My first day back at work was good, but very busy. No one does my work when I'm gone so I am playing catch up. It's getting late and I am rambling. Better get to bed. Good Night

Mandi, Looks like this last fill did the trick, maybe too well. I'm sure it will settle down soon. Tell your pal Lauren to talk to me before getting a dog. I have a 10 week old Jack Russell Terrier. They should be called Jack Russell Terrors! I got her 2 weeks before my surgery. We are still trying to house train her. She's doing pretty good now just a few accidents. It's just like having a baby in the house again. If you want to see a picture, click on my profile I put her face there instead of mine. I was hoping to figure out this web site before I returned to work but that isn't going to happen. I go back to work tommorrow. Dr gave me 2 weeks off, one extra one because of the complication. So HI HO HI HO It's back to work I go!!! Hope everyone has a great week
  21. Thanks for the explanation of your procedure today. Glad it went well for you. Where do you find a husband like that? The only way I can get my husband in a mall is to tell him that there's a really big sports store in it.

    What we ate today

Here is an easy recipe that you may want to try Line a baking dish with chicken breast ( you can substitute with turkey, you can use left over turkey that's already been cooked). Add a can of cream of mushroom soup. Top with prepared struffing, I use Stove Top Stuffing. Bake until the chicken is cooked. (it takes less time if you are using already cooked turkey). I made this for supper yesterday, only after I prepared it I pureed it. I'm still at that stage. Since I hadn't had any real food in almost a month, I really enjoyed it!!!
