I am a Lab Technologist and for the last 20 years, I have been collecting blood samples. I do more analyzing than collecting but once in a while I do collect the rare blood sample, so I don't think that I would have a problem watching. Irish, I'm glad you responded. I makes me feel better that you had 4 ccs and still feel OK.

Lol Cloe........... and good for Mr. Cloe

Irish, obviously with almost 50 lbs, lost the 4cc's are working well for you. Did you have any restriction before your first fill?

Now this is not for children's ears, put them to bed or send them in another room!!!! I have a friend who's niece worked in China. Her niece met an American in China. He was 6ft 200lbs man. Because her niece could not ask her mother she asked my friend to buy condoms for her and ship them to China. They could not find a size large enough in China. He was not a fat man. They just don't make things big enough in China.!!!! Oh yeah, good for the niece!!!! Lol

Except for my hb, no one else knew about the band. My sister-in-law asked me if I was feeling O.K. My brother-in-law was just happy that I shared my shrimp cocktail with him, other than that no one else really noticed. If they did, they didn't say anything.

I am so exited for you Gypsy. Many years ago after I had loss a huge amount of weight, I had abdomiplasty. I didn't know that put all the weight back on plus. Even though I put all this weight on, I never regretted the tummy tuck. You Go Girl!!!! Only now you know the weight will never come back

Thanks Irish and Argon, just back from the wedding. It was beautiful and I've never seen a happier bride, she was glowing!!! The wedding reception was a never ending flow of food. The meal had 6 courses and the main entrée was eventually served at about 9:30 pm. The desert was served at about 10:30 pm and at about midnight, a buffet was served. As all of these courses were served, I observed how much I ate compared to the other at my table. Of course, my hb ate everything and had 2 deserts, but everyone could eat most of the food put in from of them. I, on the other hand only ate about 1/4 of each course and none of my desert. This is the first time in a while that I realized that the band is actually working. I found that as time went on that I was able to eat more and more, but it is still working even though I am not losing weight at this time. This brings me to a very important question. I am going for my first fill Oct 5th, I have a 10cc band. How much in your experience should I get filled? I'm thinking that I should go conservative. What do you think?

MOVE!!!!! Just thought I would jump on the band wagon MOVE !!!

Your right Lila about the long haul. When I thought of the pre-op diet, I thought "if can do the pre-op diet, why would I need the surgery" but weight loss is a life time battle. My decision to have the surgery was based on that that premise.

Welcome to the banded side Swanny! I was banded exactly one month before you. Hope to be of some assistance, it's still fresh in my mind. As for the gas, keep taking your Gas-X and keep moving. And don't forget lots of sips of water.

Well, I only have a few minutes. I am off to the wedding in Montreal tomorrow and we are having family stay over tonight from the big city (Toronto). Tomorrow we are having brunch here and heading to Montreal at about noon. Hope everyone has a great weekend

Aw, Mandi, :girl_hug: Are you making plans to have some taken out? That nurse who was getting trained, is she now able to do them?
-
I think for females it means "BIG HEART". :girl_hug: :grouphug: Oh yes, did I tell you, I wear size 10 lol!!

You don't have to tell me about the lack of confidentiality!!! I work in a hospital and I'm also from a small city. You get a test done and before you know it the whole hospital knows about it. I was really disappointed to hear that you have to report the band as a medical alert. I am a bad asthmatic and have had several emergency visits and have been hospitalized recently because of it. I pleaded with the clinic "I don't want to tell them about the band!!!!!" They told me I had to. If I for some reason became unconscious and they had to open me up, they better know about the band. I think the next time I have an asthma attack, I will drive the hour to Ottawa...hmmmm...maybe that's not such a good idea.......Anyway, I dread the next time I need any medical help in my city because when that happens, everyone will know about the band!!!! It SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome, Mandi.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I remember when I used to only weight in the 220's. Tell me Mandi, if you lived closer to Mississauga, would you have had them remove some of the last fill? Are you glad you didn't have some of the fill removed now that you are doing so well with the weight coming off? I live far away from the clinic, not as far away as you, but it's still a hike.

Leila, Glad to hear it's fibroids and not the CA word. I lost my best friend to ovarian cancer. She's been gone 2 years this month. I've been thinking about her a lot lately. So I know it's tough that you have to endure the hyst. but it could have been a lot worst, so for that I'm happy for you and your family.
-
Mandi, you should have tried the 18's. You never know. I see your ticker do I see 59?

Some people will do anything to grab the spotlight. Lol What a story!! Glad your surgery went well and good for you to have had the hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as the band. Saved you from a probable other surgery. Have you talked to Dr Mumford since the day of your surgery? I found him to be quite a nice man. I had a minor complication and he was very good to speak to me every 2nd day including the weekend. He took the time to explain what was happening to me and what to do about it. He gave me a phone number that I could reach him anytime. One of the converstions I could hear his family in the backgroung.

I had mine by Dr Mumford in Mississauga Ontario. It's about a 6 hour drive for me. I live in Eastern Ontario

Puddingpie, this is wonderful to hear. I am 4 weeks post op and it really helps to hear this type of story. You will be my inspiration. I was always active even at 250 lbs, but the last few years, I have developed severe asthma and bursitis in my hips. All of a result of carrying too much weight. I love the fact that you are so active. This is my dream, to lose the weight and go hiking, biking and whatever else comes my way
-
Mandi, waiting to hear about your progress tomorrow.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Maria:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: That's an amazing weight loss. Fantastic, phenominal, outstanding!!!

Lila, I ate so much before my pre-op diet that I was looking forward to the diet. Once I was on the diet, I wasn't so thrilled with it. Got through it though, and yes, I'm sure you will make your 8 pound goal!! Cloe, I also think your body heard you. Send some yelling my way, please! Mandi, I realized after I asked everyone to check out Aussie Chick that everyone has probably seen the pics already. I forget that I am still virtually a newbie. Aussie Chick's pics are quite inspiring. Leila, sorry to hear about your medical problem. I have fibroids, nothing that large but I know someone that had a fibroid that was quite large. For me the first Dr. wanted to do a hysterectomy. Since I didn't want a hyst., I requested a second opinion. The second Dr. performed an endometrial ablation. This procedure is much less invasive and is only day surgery. Other solutions include medications to keep your estrogen levels down which I did try, but I could not tolerate the meds. Just keep in mind that there is always more than one solution. Good Luck to you!!
