  1. Don't laugh. Well it's OK if you do. I am trying to figure out how to post a picture, I think I got that down. Now I am trying to make it smaller. What do you think? Did I succeed?

That's true Yoda, we have to look on the bright side of things. You know like is your plate half empty or half full?
  3. Yoda, I must of missed something, what is PCOS? Does it have anything to do with cortisol levels? After my episode with the personal trainer, he asked me to tell my doctor about not having lost any weight. My doctor did some blood work, she told me that I had an elevated cortisol and that was why I was having trouble losing weight. She attributed it to the meds I take for asthma (the steroid inhalers) and did no other follow up. Well, Mr Wheezy and I are off for the next couple of days. After a long summer and no time to have a vacation, we are leaving tomorrow to spend a few days in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. It should be beautiful in the mountains and it's up north so the foliage should be spectacular. Looking forward to some R&R and at the same time I can practice speaking French. Talk to you all when I get back. Bonjour, a bientot.

    Dr. Coboun's Patients

Great question. Last night I was reading the notes I received from the office and realized that it states to keep in touch once a month. I will be there early October so I won't call or e-mail before I go. My feeling is that unless everything is fine I don't think that I will contact them. For the people that do keep in touch, do you feel that there is any value in it?
  5. I hired a personal trainer a couple of years ago. I was with him 3 times a week and did 1 hour of weight training and 30-40 mins cardio. I also went to the gym at least twice more a week and did just cardio. I did this for 4 months. I felt better but didn't lose any weight Not only did I not lose weight I did not lose an once of body fat. He measured body fat before I started working with him, 2 months later and 4 months later. It was embarrassing. I had 44% body fat. When I get nervous or embarrassed, I usually start rambling, can't shut up. While I was rambling, I actually asked him if 44% body fat was a lot!!!! He had 12% body fat. UgHHHH

    Canadian Bandster Bash

Why not? Why don't we meet in Montreal? Just kidding....I would certainly be interested if time permitting
  7. I hear you Devana, I can't get motivated to exercise. I don't know what it's going to take. I am actually paying for a gym membership. I keep thinking that if I lost just a little more weight, I wouldn't feel so bad going there. Well another month has passed and I haven't gone!!! Bad Wheezy, Bad Wheezy!!! October is a new month, a new beginning. Right? Right? It looks like since the band I now have a strange side effect. I keep repeating myself, I keep repeating myself.
  8. 5 lbs Devana, WTG, I on the other hand am up 1 lb so far......Next month will be a lot better.
  9. Mandi, I agree about experience, let him practice on others first. His receptionist told me his first two patients were scheduled in October. It's only a 1 hour drive east to Montreal for me. You know what that means? Montreal is only a 12 hours drive and Ottawa is a 13 hour drive for you if you ever get fed up of waiting for someone to do a fill or a unfill in the Maritimes. You could make a long weekend of it. Montreal and Ottawa both have great sites to visit. Have you ever been to Old Montreal? It's really pretty. Great shopping too!

    Lila's Lounge

Hang in there Lila you'll get through it. The first week all I could have was sips of Water. Believe me, that was enough, if I put anything else in me, I was in agony. I went through 2 bottles of codeine for pain. I had to get another prescription from the Dr. because I took the maximum dose for relief and when you do that it doesn't take long to go through it.
  11. Lila, Congrats about your weight loss. You are doing great! :clap2: :clap2: I kinda understand about the frequent weigh ins. I now try to limit it to once a week now but it's just so hard to resist the temptation, but bringing a scale with you on vacation??!!! Anyway, I got some good news today. Yesterday, I joined Canadian Lapbanders. I posted a messages that asked if anyone lived near where I lived and if so, did they know of someone who did fills around here. I received several replies. Dr Coburn was in Ottawa recently and trained a physician to do fills. I called his office today but he could not do the fill until late October. It happens that he is recovering from surgery himself. So I am off to Mississauga for my first fill but after that I will be able to have them in Ottawa. Ottawa is only 1 hours drive as opposed to a 6 hours drive. There is also a Dr in Montreal that performs lapband surgery that may also be a possibility. Mandi, I also saw a post about someone who will be trained in Pictou NS to do fills. Is this the one you were telling us about?

    Leisurely Loriely

I didn't know about the Canadian Lapbanders. I joined today and posted something. Boy, what a rigmarole (I know I probably misspelled that word!! lol) The website is quite cumbersome and finicky. Anyway, I'll see if I get any responses.....

    Argon's Activities

Oh Mandi, I hear you. My husband's friend stayed here last summer, just for a few weeks Yeah right! 8 weeks later, my husband asked him to leave. He wasn't bad but the extra person in the house made things tense to say the least. And I don't think he had intentions to move out too soon. I think he was getting a little too comfortable. Maybe you should tell Dan to tell this guy that he is welcome, that you both would put up with the inconvenience for a short period but if he had to see girlfriend he should see her at her place. After all, it is a small apartment or you are agoraphobic (Can only live with 2 other people) or any other excuse you can think of. If he can't agree to these terms then this living arrangement cannot happen. Good luck with that.
  14. Maria!!!! wow 50 lbs :clap2: :clap2: Congratulations :)

I bought a set of corel dishes about 6 months ago. The square kind, I like the look of them but if you ever saw them the plates are humungous, they don't even fit in the dishwasher. I have been eating on a side plate ever since I bought them, the side plates are a little smaller than a regular plate. The difference is that I don't go for seconds anymore.

    Canadian Bandster Bash

Thanks for the info about the Bash. I think it would be fun to attend. For $70.00 we should skip the meal, hirer a limo and go see a play.
  18. Thursday Oct 5 at 3:30. Cloe, try to convince Mandi to come along. Got back from Montreal about 2 hours ago. Went shopping at costco. That place is dangerous, can't leave there without spending mucho dollars. Mr Wheezy bought a pair of jeans, 16.99 what a deal. The thing is he bought a size 38, he usually wears a size 36. I asked him what was up with that? He said he gained a little weight. Go figure, I lost weight and he gained. I think it's because he's been eating what I am not. Better start cooking smaller portions.
  19. Men drive me crazy, they can lose weight so easily. Congrats to Mr Yoda, and happy to hear about the inches!!

    I Need Help....

I had the surgery on a Tuesday and was scheduled to be back at work on Monday. Unfortunately, because of a complication, I could not go back to work until the following Monday (13 days off). I also did not tell anyone I worked with. I feel that they would have been too judgmental, so I told a white lie, I told them that I was sick with something else. I did not call in sick until the day before my surgery. I did tell my manager that I was having surgery and that I was going to be off for approx. 1 week but I did not tell him what type of surgery (none of his business). I told him that no one else knew that I was having surgery and asked him to keep it confidential.

mind not in line with stomach

Aw, Neverland. You need to talk to someone. Is there someone you can go for help? Maybe the school councilor. You should not have to feel this way. I see from your ticker that you have lost 18 kg, that's fantastic. That alone would make me feel better and want to do better but sometimes we just need a little extra help

That's great Yoda, off one of your meds.:clap2: :clap2: That's exactly why we are doing all of this sh....t. To become healthier and if while we are becoming healthier, we happen to fit into smaller pants, well, that's icing on the cake :happybday: P.S. I know it's not your birthday but there's a cake..lol
