  1. So I had my first fill, 1cc in a 4cc band. I thought I had a 10cc band but as Dr Mumford pointed out it is a 10 cm band that contains 4ccs. Next time I read something that small, I better put my glasses on!! It took several pokes to get it in. Boy, what a weird feeling, we could actually hear (and I could feel) the needle hitting the side of the port before he hit the spot. He pointed out that the part he has to hit is actually quite small and my port is very deep . He said that the port being deep is a good thing because as I lose weight, I probably will never have the port visible. (That's a polite way of saying Holy Cow you are still so fat!!) He always points out the positive side of things like when my stomach swelled after surgery, he said that it was a good thing because of this I should be able to find my sweet spot easier. I hope he's right because having a fill isn't all that bad but the combination of being 12 hours in the car and a 4 inch needle stuck in your abdomen is not exactly something I want to go through often. As for the nurse (I forget her name) she seem very reserved, she's nice enough but it's just not the same in that office. Maria was so friendly, I only met her twice but I still felt a kinship with her. I don't feel any different except that my belly is a little tender after the pokes but I really haven't tested it yet. I had a scrambled egg when I got home last night and that was fine. I asked my sister on the long drive home yesterday if I looked any thinner yet and she said yes. LOL
  2. Canadian, my fingers are crossed, good luck. Tommy!!! That's fantastic, 93 lbs, now that is encouraging for all of us. As for the ice cream, have you ever tried frozen yogurt. My husband is a big ice cream fan and now he eats frozen yogurt. Chapman makes several flavors, my husband's favorite is cappacino with chocolat expresso flakes and for 1/2 a cup it's about 100 calories. lol about the laundry. What kind of football did you play? We are big Canadian football fans in this house and we have season tickets to the Montreal Alouettes. Go Als Go!

    Hello

Yas, I also had 5 scars, 4 are very small and 1 about 2 inches. No stitches at all. As for pain, I had a small complication therefore I had pain for about a week but with the pain meds it was bearable. I am 7 weeks post op and I find you kinda forget about the what the pain was really like. I also had the surgery in Mississauga but I had Dr Mumford as a surgeon.

Winners in Canada and TJMax in the US, my two favorite places to shop!
  7. I phoned the clinic today to make sure I knew where I was going. They told me that the move to the new building will be in December some time. I've got a long day tomorrow, I'm leaving at 8 am, my appointment is scheduled for 3:40pm and am hoping to be back home by midnight. My sister is coming with me so the day won't seem so long. I'm hoping that the fill will go smoothly and that I get some restriction because lately there's practically nothing stopping me from eating just about anything. I will keep you posted and thank you for asking.

    Shopping!

I vowed that I would not shop for clothes for a while. I have many sizes of clothes stored away and that should do me for a while.... We'll see how long that lasts

That's why you have to get home at Christmas because if people that know you don't notice you've lost weight they would have to be blind or just, well.....stupid!!!

    Pre-Op Problems

Nancy, I ate so much that I couldn't wait until the Pre-op diet. Luckily I only had one month to wait. So it was 2 weeks of eating whatever and 2 weeks of eating nothing. I fretted so much about the pre-op diet sometimes I couldn't sleep or I'd wake up in the middle of the night thinking that I would not be able to do it. It all fell into place... and the same thing will happen to you. It's only been 7 weeks for me since the surgery and I still enjoy food, just not so much of it. Because you must eat slow and chew chew chew you actually take the time to taste your food. Hope this helps you.

What about a different angle? Let your employer know that you need to upgrade your PC at home and that it would be beneficial to them to provide you with one. It could be a loan as long as you work for them. They probably have great deals. Some employers offer payment plans through payroll deduction. You have to get home, to go to the bar, to see your ex. (you know the a..hole), to show him what he will be missing the rest of his life!! and yes, to see your family.
  16. Nobody can live like that unless they do it for a living!!!!

    Another Canadian Challenge???

I'm in for 9 lbs, the one that I gained last month plus another 8
  18. About the flu. Dr Mumford (he is in the same office as Dr. C.) explained that vomiting from the flu such as dry heaves does not affect the band, but vomiting from eating too much or too fast can cause harm. The office will give you info about a web site you can join. I think it's Obesityhelp.com. I looked into it but when I tried to register, it seemed to be more friendly for our friends to the South. I tried to register using Dr Mumford's name as my surgeon, but he wasn't on the list. When I tried to add him to the list, I wasn't successful. Then there were questionnaires about the cost and insurance and none of it pertained to what I experience as a Canadian. Apparently we all paid too much!! That sounds just about right, we pay so much tax that it seems right that we should pay more for healt care!!!

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Congrats everyone on their NSVs. Somewhere on this site is a clothing exchange if anyone is interested. Cloe, I'm sure your brand new coat would be very much appreciated by someone else who may not be able to afford to buy new clothing every time their weight changes. I am glad that I am able to wear uniforms at work. They are very forgiving, I could probably lose or gain 4 sizes before having to replace them.
  20. Love the jokes. Speaking of hair..... We have a barber's kit so a few month ago, my husband asked me to give him a hair cut. It's really simple, I put on a number 4 on the shaver and shave his head. He ends up with about 1/4 inch of hair. We had just had a nice supper and a few glasses of wine. I put on the number 4 and away I go. I take off the number 4 and do the trimming around his neck and his ears. Then I lost my head!!!! I decide to do his head again forgetting that I took off the number 4. I immediately gasped, he had one streak across his head completely bald, shaved to the skin!!!! I panicked and said, I can fix it, I put on the #3 and tried again, not good, put on the number 2, and tried again. My husband said, "That looks OK, I'll go take a shower and it will be fine". After his shower, every time I walked by him there was this bald streak across his head staring at me. I ended up shaving his head completely bald to hide my mistake. I literally cried, I was so upset for him. He just said "Get over it, it's only hair". For about a month every time I would catch him taking a look in the mirror, I would hear him say "Holy cow I really have no hair!!" Thank the Lord that men aren't obsessed about their hair like we are. Moral of the story-Pay attention -Don't have wine before giving someone a hair cut

    Another Canadian Challenge???

I'm ready for an October challenge. I don't think that we should ever stop challenging ourselves. This weight thing is a lifetime battle.

    Hey JUDE048!

Oh Oh! I think I'm in trouble. I was looking forward to my first fill, I didn't know that I would be quizzed about what I was eating! October is a new beginning. Jude, glad things are going better for you. The pizza thing with your grand-children sounds nice. I did the same thing with my children for Christmas cookies. I bought all kinds of things to decorate, smarties, sprinkles, chocolate chips etc. and let the kids decorate them any way they liked. Of course a lot of the cookie decorations ended up in their bellies. When my children and I reminisce about Christmas, they ofter bring up the Christmas cookies.

    Craving

I am also not a sweet eater. Pre-op diet for me was 3 Protein shakes and 1 meal of vegetables per day. It was the vegetables that saved me. Post-op I had a real hard time. All of the meds (gasX, liquid codeine, liquid tylenol, vitamins) clear juices were all so sweet and after a few days, I was disgusted with sugar!!! Hang in there it's not forever and if could do it anyone can!
  24. I originally booked off 1 week and because of a minor complication, was off 2 weeks.
  25. Hi I'm back from our little get away at Mont Tremblant. It was cold and rainy but it didn't stop us to do the things we wanted to do. Last evening after we ate we walked up the face of the mountain. We walked about half way this is where we were surprised by a 2 huge water falls. I was beautiful. I struggled and had to take many breaks, but it was really worth it. We left early this morning 5 am because my hb has a golf tournament today. Can't miss that!! Sorry about the humongous photo. It's my sister's puppy and thought I would use the photo to experiment posting pictures. The first one I tried was too small and obviously this one's way too big!! Today is the last day of the month. So we all know what that means. Fess up, did you meet your goals? I hope you all have, I on the other hand, well... next month is a new beginning.... Total for September- gained 1 lb. -exercised 3 times
