YO what's happening. Is everything OK??? Hope both of you are well. -
Hey, what's up. What's new??
-
Wow...is it really true. I want to know. I have experienced the phenomenum but didn't know that it was fact. Is it???
-
It's almost a month since my last fill and as of today, I am feeling a little lighter. Hoping this feeling continues. I wore something yesterday that was too tight a few months ago. That was a good feeling. Question.....What do ya'll order in restaurants? I recently had 2 business meals, one was a 5 course meal. I ate 1 course and felt embarass to have 4 plates returned untouched. Well... it was touched, I moved the food around with my fork. No one asked any questions but I felt that they were watching me. I've been ordering fish and as long as it's not breaded, I can usually eat it. I would like to try something else. What has worked for you????
-
I've been asked to submit reciepts on 3 seperate occasions. Once I owned rental property, I retained an accountant to do my taxes and never looked back. Now if there is any questions from revenue canada, my accountant handles it. It's certainly worth the extra money.

Donna, I don't want to say...you see, right after my other fills, I usually had some weight loss only to gain again soon after. So.....we will see....I feel that maybe I might have lost some.....knock on wood. Could this be the one??? I dare not say. Tell you what, if after 2 months, I have had some weight loss, I will announce it and dare I say, I will actually post a ticker!!! Wish me luck...and lots of restriction
-
Loriely, glad to hear your dh has finally found his sweet spot. Also, glad to hear that I am not the only one here that has had to have 5 fills to finally think that perhaps I will see some real results. About the constipation...benafibe has helped somewhat but every once in a while ex-lax is definitely needed. One of my biggest problem is that I don't get enough water in. I work in a medical lab so to bring your water to work is out of the question. Anytime I take a break, I usually try to eat something. Eating and drinking is not recommended, so goes my dilema....Do I try and get my protein in.....or do I drink water???? That is the question.

Welcome back Sherri, it's a lot busier around here now.
-
I guess maybe Dr C told me these things because he knows how hard it's been for me. I was already pretty tight in the morning and now even more so. As far as beef goes, I find if you have a really good cut of beef, it could be as tender as other meats. On a good note, I've started to feel like I'm losing weight but it doesn't show on the scale yet

Susan, That sounds reasonable, better to have a small rise in blood sugar than a low blood sugar. Who is going to be there for you when you have an insulin reaction??? If you are anything like I am, you may have good intentions to have your protein and your carbohydrates, the band may say differently. Keep us informed because let's face it, we are all diabetics or pre-diabetic if we don't keep our weight in check Take care
-
OK. So what do you all think about what Dr C said. Except for the weight loss, how much restriction do you all feel?????
-
There's a negative side to the US dollor. The lower it goes the more it cost them to have industry here in Canada. We just lost a large company that hired 1000 people and they paid decent wages.

My God Jane, if you feel well enough to post on this web site, you are doing OK gurl.....Give yourself sometime to heal. Surgery, probably at least 4 incisions, general anesthetics, a tight band wrapped around your stomach, stiches....you are not supposed to feel like a million bucks yet. The bright side of this story is that you will heal, you will lose weight and you will fee like a million bucks...eventually Take care

I am getting very anoyed!! This is the third time I try to respond about what Dr C said about restriction and for some reason, it does not post!!! So here I go again.... Dr C. said that the only thing I should be able to get down in the morning is coffee and maybe some yogurt. He said that I should be able to eat chicken of fish but beef would be very difficult. He said that the restriction should be able to carry through to the evening hours. Every experienced bandster knows that morning has the greatest restriction therefore in order to have restriction later in the day, you can't eat much in the morning. Hope this helps and hope this shows up as a post. Wish me luck!!!

Thanks all!! It's true we are all different, but I had all of my fills by others Docs, it wasn't until I met Dr C. that I understood what amount of restriction you should feel. The Mississauga clinic is increasing the amount of patient support that is provided. I think that it is a step in the right direction. Cheers.

LOL. I bet he lurves my rolls better than yours!!!

Awe, thanks Mandi (Group Hug)

Actually, he said that he was going to tell him that he would no longer be able to do fills. He said that there was another Doc in Ottawa interested in doing fills, Dr Bishop who is an endocrinologist. This Doc is not trained yet but he said to call the clinic next time I needed a fill and perhaps he/she would be trained in doing fills.

So this is my truth. I had lapband surgery Aug 15th 2007. I have only lost 25 lbs in total. Not what I expected after having spent all the money, pain and energy. So on Monday I had my 5th fill. I now have 2.4 ccs in a 5 cc band. I always thought I had a 4 cc band but Dr C. told me in fact it can hold 5ccs. After talking with Dr C about restriction, I am now convinced that all this time, I thought that I had plenty of restriction. As it turns out I was wrong. With this recent fill, I now have to practice what was preached. Eat very slowly, small bites and chew chew chew. This is the fill that is going to do it!!!
-
Hey Mandi, I finally met Dr. C. He did my fill on Monday. The clinic looks modern, kinda weird, but modern. The outside of the building is this burnt orange color so it's not hard to find. The inside has very high ceilings. I kinda expected this huge aquarium in the exam office, ya know like the Nip and Tuck aquarium. Anyhooooo Dr C was fabulous. He asked me some questions about restriction and he determined that I could use a fill. He said that he would give me .5 ccs but he may give less of a fill dependant on the resistance he felt when he injected the saline. He ended up only putting in 0.3 ccs. I already feel a difference and after his pet talk I am a renewed lapbandster. So now I'm in lurve with Dr. C.

Dr McMumford...... Did you not know that he's in lurve with me. Don't tell anyone else but from the moment that he met me, he lurved me for who I was. He lurved every little riple of cellutlite, every little (OK so every large) roll I have. He has lurved me "just the way I am". So you see that we are in fact having a lurve affair. It's OK with me if you meet with him and have a consultation. It's OK with me if you even let him do the surgery, but I'll be darned... that you havr fills with him. OK so I'm delusional. Do what you have to do...but just remember that he is still and will always be in lurve with me. Sincerely, McWheezy

Wow Mandi, I think we were posting at the same time and all of a sudden your pics appear. OK so there is an excess skin issue but you still look fabulous. I wounder if you know how lucky you are to have had the surgery as young as you are? Do you know how lucky you are to have a guy like Dan who sees you for who you are? Does Dan know how lucky he is to have you as a mate? My best friend died of ovarian cancer 2 years ago and when I complained to her about my weight, she said to me " Look at me, I have no hair, my skin has been ravaged by the effect of chemo. Does it look like what I care about what you look like? It's what's inside and no one knows that like I do". I try to carry those words with me when I feel that there is so much wrong with the way I look. Mandi, I have communicated with you for almost a year now and you are knowledgeable, helpful to anyone that ask, you are smart and you are beautiful Your friend

Mandi, Are the running shoes causing blisters/sores or are your feet just hurting?? Maybe you need to see a chiropodist. Do you have extended health coverage because it may have something to do with the shape of your foot. They could recommend some kind of insert in your shoes. They could analyze your feet and determine whether or not it is the problem, otherwise no matter what shoe you buy, you will experience the same kind of problem.

That's awesome Mr. Y. Not everyone gets these results so quickly. WTG
