My name is Connie and I live in Nixa, Missouri where I own a bar and grill.  I've been overweight forever... I weighed 132 on my 13th birthday and I've been struggling with my weight all my adult life.  Finally, at age 53 I decided that it was now or never...  I didnt want to have diabetes and die like my mother... I didnt want to have a heart attack like my father.  This was the end of the line for being FAT for me.  At 226 lbs, by highest weight ever, I made the final decision to regain control over my body.  I chose the lap band system because it seems like the only way to really keep the weight from coming back on.  I have never had a hard time LOSING weight; it was the keeping it off and not gaining it back with INTEREST that was hard for me.   Having the surgery in Mexico was an inexpensive way to go.  My insurance would have covered me in the U.S., but I didnt want to wait forever for the tests, classes, phsychoanalysis, etc., etc.!  For $5,900 I had the deed done and had a great vacation too, in Cancun, Mexico!  I lost 14lbs before my surgery where i weighed in the morning of at 212 lbs.  Its been exactly 2 weeks since surgery (I went back to work 6 days after surgery) and I now weigh 205 lbs!   I'm so excited to be on the way to my ideal weight of 135!!!
