  1. Hi, got your reply to the post. I put a Quote over my sun visor in the car that tells me every day " If you want to change your body, you must first change your mind" I slip every now and then, but get right back on track! The head still tells me I WANT that! But my stomach stops me with the LapBand, I am very happy about that. And you like me, did not put this weight on overnight, it took many years and many miles and things going on in our lives. I was a stress eater, and I LOVE to cook, but limit myself in the kitchen now. Now when I am stressed I just don't want to eat and I drink Protein drinks all day. I don't want to cook when I am depressed either. A total turn around. I was 259, and knew I had to stop and get that band! I did and I am never looking back, My whole life changed! I wear makeup now EVERYDAY, got my hair cut and frosted and a new younger style, new clothes too, what fun shopping! Had to get new underwear twice! LOL I had more confidence than I had

We must change our way of thinking when it comes to the foods we choose to put in our bodies. This is not a journey to just get slim, it is also a journey to good healthy lifestyles. Eating better, and feeling better. Health and Wellness may be yours and you can add years to your life if you just accept the fact that "To change your life, you must first accept the help from the LapBand, don't fight it, and change your mind and way of thinking about food, and you will change your body.

  4. You may have eaten too FAST, this will cause stacking and you have to really chew the food, especially any foods with skins. I had a peice of steak hung for three days, OMG it was painful. Drank coke to get that meat unhung, finally got to eat, it too was right after a fill about three days, only going to eat soft foods after fills! Learned my lesson too LOL Tried to gag and throw it up, not coming! Scary to say the least. We will learn won't we?:bored:

    Hi

I am 57 years old, had the band on July 29, 2009. As of today I am down 49 lbs! I feel great, joined the Gym and really moving now. Getting all sorts of compliments too. I would do it all over again tomorrow, no regrets. It is something you will live with the rest of your life, and your life will be longer due to the weight loss. Don't be afraid, do it for LIFE! If you can get use to heartburn, swelled feet and ankles, taking meds for everything related to being overweight, you can get use to being thin, with the band and love it.

WOW! Met a goal I really didn't know I had.....

I like that feeling too, being able to do the small things, I put on a pair of pantyhose last week without a wrestling match with my legs! I can feel my knee bones touching now when I get in bed and lay on my side too, so weird! I am colder now though, and my husband is the one who is hot. When I was heavier, I would sweat at night, he can't get over the change. I actually got a slap on the butt the other day in some of my new jeans!

    Lacking the Courage to Start?

 If you lack the courage to start, you are already finished! I love this saying and it is so true. We must get started, and if we have started and get off track, the courage to start over again. I have been up and down two lbs since Oct. 28th, It is down again, but I think that the exercise program I have started is building muscle and that could weigh more. I want Onderland by Christmas and that is my goal now. A little present to myself. start weight 256 todays weight 210 Surgery Date July 29, 2009:thumbup:

  9. :thumbup:HI To get back with you and try to help you on my diet for a typical day, mornings, I have 1/2 scoop "Body Fortress" protein powder with 8 oz skim milk, my vitamin, I check my first morning urine around 7:00 AM to see that I am in Ketosis. Any Ketosis is good, just not negative. Then I weigh myself "in the nude", clothing can vary in weight. I have a couple pcs bacon, and eggbeaters with white cheese.

Lunch, I have Crystal Lite and water. 1 Can of Vienna Sausage, 5 Saltines. (lite lunch, high protein, low carbs)

Night, I have 4-6 oz of Baked Chicken Breast or Fish, with Salad and Ranch Dressing. You could have Romain Lettuce and Ceasar Dressing. (no more that two tblps dressing-Carbs!)

All foods can be purchased at Wal-Mart and Ketone Sticks. If you are not burning Fat, you are burning Carbs, you want to burn Fat, keep with your water, and eat foods that contain no more than 50 carbs a day, and 60 Grams of protein (MIN on Protein, you can have more of Protein)

Why am i getting shoulder pain???

It is the Gas settling in you from the Surgery, that is all. It will go away, take your pain meds that the Doctor Prescribed. I was able to eat chicken Noodle Soup and other soft foods the second week after my surgery. You just need to concentrate on chewing everything well before swallowing and it should go down. I felt weak and light headed without some food. Vienna Sausage are very soft and a meat with high Protein that I added. I found that I could eat saltines and did too, itty bitty bites and that helped with my nausea. I told my Dr. and he was fine with it. The Protein Drinks are good too, they fill you up and give you added energy. The gas pain will go away soon, give it a day or two. It is common with the Lap Band Surgery. Always call your Dr's office if you are worried about something. Good luck, you are on your way to being a LOSER in a good way! Here if you need me. janetsjourneytoslim pre-op diet lost 9 lbs pre-op weight 256 Lap Band surgery 7-29-2009 Weight as of 9-10-2009 211 Weight Loss of 45 lbs so far! pre-op sz 24W, Now 16W
  12. Wow how encouraging! I hope I can find the vision to see myself as slender as you have become. I am 55 lbs from my goal. Had my surgery 7-29-09 and I have lost 45 lbs. Just started Zumba! Have you had a Tummy Tuck or anything? You just look Amazin. Congrats I know you are proud as well as you should be. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the motivation.

  13. Hi Sage, I love your pics, really show you have lost a lot of weight. When did you have your surgery? I had mine in July on the 29th. I have lost a total of 45 lbs as of today. 13 weeks, and I am blown away. I went to a Funeral today and some people I saw last summer did not even recognize me! It was wonderful. I wore a size 3x shirt and shorts to the outing last summer and swam in it, Now this summer, I will wear a swimsuit again. Good luck to you, keep me posted ok?

Can band get tighter by itself?

I have only had my band for three months, but the last fill was so tight, I choked on a peice of meat and it stayed lodged for three days. Anything I put in after that (solid) came back. First time I had thrown up! I read another post from a girl who had hers about a year, she mentioned dialation of the stomach pouch above the band, and had to have the liquid withdrawn and it fixed. The pouch swells up making the band feel tighter. You need to call your surgeon, and please keep me posted as to the results. Concerned about you!
  15. Hi! Just checking in to see how you are coming along! Hope all is going well. I have had my third fill and it was very tight, i thought i'd have to get some fluid removed, but i got better after a week. Two deaths in my family, in a week, going to the last funeral tomorrow. I started to the gym on wed am. I am sore, but going back tomorrow for more! Lol it will get better. Lost 45 lbs so far!

do u have a sudden urge....

 Hi! I think your transformation is remarkable. You deserve to have a make over. And we never know what we will like until we try it! I went for the hair Cut and the Frosting and the Contacts, and when I get to my Goal Weight, I am going to have a Tummy Tuck, Boob Job, Whatever it takes to improve myself further. We only live once and we can't take anything with us, so having said that, GO FOR IT! You are a beautiful woman with choices, and anyway it will always grow back. I am a little concerned, I have only had my band for 13 weeks, not loosing hair and my hair is in great shape. Should I expect this to happen to my hair? I am on High Protein Diet, and was told this was essential to keep from loosing hair. God Bless!

    New from NY State

Hi Mel! I know you are getting excited, and it has been a long process, but it will be worth it. Get everything ready at home, everything in reaching distance for yourself, It is the one thing I did not do. Get a few small pillows and toss them around so you can reach, when you need. The port area is very sore and tender so when you get up and down from the couch or a chair, use them to press against the port area. After 3 or 4 days, the pain should subside there and all is well. On the seventh day, I got up around 7 AM and walked down my long driveway and back several times, I had so much energy after the surgery, something I had never had before. I have lost 46 lbs in 13 weeks, already! From a size 24W to 14 W. You can do this, and you will be so happy. Keep in touch, God Bless and Best Wishes to you.:scared2:

    New from NY State

Hi! and Welcome to LapBand Talk!:scared2: I was banded on July 29, 2009, Self-Pay, so I did not have to go through all you guys are doing with the Ins. Co.'s I would have but my BCBS has a clause that would not pay at all. I felt so good about the Band, that I wanted it, and just paid for it. It was rough the first four or five days after surgery, I will not lie to you. You need to get everything ready at home to make it as easy for you as possible and take your pain meds, this is one time you can, so do! You will not even remember it, when you start shedding the pounds, believe me! I have lost a total of 46 lbs, and I went from a size 24W to a 14W in no time at all! I have three piles of clothes, ones I can't wear, ones I am wearing, and ones I WILL WEAR, in just a month, I go down a couple of sizes. I want to loose about 110 lbs! This time next year, your journey to a new life is just beginning! Feel free to talk anytime. Best Wishes to You.

Second fill Coming up! Excited??? Don't Know What to expect!

Oh I know Gorda, but the Dr. I have uses ex-ray to help when adding my fills. The first one helped me so much, I got 1.5 cc's in an 11 cc band only. I really started to take off the pounds due to the restriction. The second one he added the 1.5 cc's and the ex-ray showed a reflux back up in my esophogus, so he drew back out right then and there .3cc's giving me only 1.2 cc's that time. Using ex-ray for fills is smart, then you are never overfilled and have to go in for some out. This 3rd fill is so restrictive, I am going to go on high protein liquids for the rest of the week and water. I have no problem with water, just need to drink more of it. I hate vomiting too, with a passion! I had not done it until three days ago, I tried to eat a piece of steak! Bad choice on my part, but the vomiting was not like before, it was like a spit up! Good Luck
