A wedding, hummus, and another pound down!
janetsjourneytoslim commented on adagray's blog entry in Blog 52574
Good for you! Every lb counts now! And it is wonderful that we can enjoy the events in our lives without feeling bad about it! I went to a wedding early on and lost the whole meal, that I TRIED to eat and LOOK NORMAL! As you say all the SKINNY ones just eat and eat! Well I did get a salad to stay down, but the meat, Chicken was just too dry! I ate a sliver of the cake very good! Too many sweets mess with my Ketosis so I stay away most of the time! You were right to be cautious! LOL I learned so much living with the band now for 8 mos! It is a great teacher! I love it and would not change a thing about my surgery or my life! One of my best friends just got approved and is getting her surgery next friday! Have a Happy Easter! -
I have days when I feel NO Restriction, and then the next day, I can't get much food to go down, depends on how uptight I am too. I have to have a relaxed dining exp. or I am really tight! Think about how much less you are eating now, even tho there are times you eat more and times you eat less, from what you use to consume? You will continue to lose the weight, watch the portion control and eat small meals often, then you won't eat so much at one time, and your body will continue to burn calories all day and speed up your metabolism! Good Luck!

Hi and Welcome to the talk center for us Banders! You are doing great! You will start to getting some food in now, I chose the High Protein Low Carb Diet to help me lose faster and keep those vitamins up. I never get hungry! High Protein does that for you! I have only felt my tummy growl about three times in 8 mos!!!!! Really, no lie! I did not eat all day one day until 4:30PM and realized it when my tummy growled! It was such a strange sensation, cause I had not heard it in such a long time! HA! I don't do that anymore, best to eat a small portion every two hours, at least drink something that often too but not when you eat! It washes the food through and you don't have that full feeling for very long!

Co-Co you are in Bandster HELL as they call it! LOL Do not worry it is not the end, just the beginning, and when your fill is in you will see the scales moving again, just heal right now, don't worry about the lbs moving down just yet, you have your band, and it will be with you for life, relax and enjoy and after the fill, keep a record of what you eat each day, and I weighed every day in the morning for my records. Good Luck on your NEW life journey!

The gas from the surgery is usually around the shoulder or side, although I passed gas a lot to walk it off and get rid of it! After the first couple of weeks, you return to normal after the effects of the anethesia wears off. The pain will go away after 6 or 7 days, and is mild in comparison to other surgerys I have had done, I love my band, you are doing great and on this journey with us! You will be so happy!

You are so right to form this Group and get active in the group. Support is KEY! It helps us stay the course, keep your eye on the prize! It will be yours!

Keeping yourself Motivated! All Important!
janetsjourneytoslim commented on janetsjourneytoslim's blog entry in Blog 75574
:tongue:It is imperative to keep YOURSELF motivated! Ever talk to yourself? We do it all the time~we just don't admit it! Well for me it is the only way to avoid temptation and when I don't listen to myself, I listen to others OR TO THE FOOD ADDICTION I have lived with all my life! The food we want talks to our brains, our friends (that never gain weight no matter what they eat) tell us a little of this or that won't hurt. "If we want to change our bodies, we must first change our minds!" Hummm! There is NO other Way! So go ahead TALK TO YOURSELF~TELL YOURSELF NO NO NO! to the cravings you have for the OLD foods that made you FAT and UNHAPPY! Tell yourself YES YES YES to happiness, energy, new life, new clothes, new agility! The reward is amazing so go ahead, tell everyone that I told you it was OK to talk to yourself! Listen to those inner voices, and talk back to them! Have a Happy and Blessed Easter everyone! He is Risen and He is in control!:w00t: -

:thumbup:How sweet of you! You had your surgery on my Birthday! How about that? I am so glad that we are doing so Good! I get depressed wanting to have it NOW, but you know what? We did not put it on fast so it will just have to go off slower! I have lost 80 lbs now, and have 23 to go to goal, it had almost stopped but has started again coming off after this last fill, very tight now again and that is good. I think when we have lost this much, our body refuses to drop thinking we will get sick or something, and we have lost a good percentage of the extra body weight too. Thanking God everyday for my band. When I get into a 12 really good and it is loose on my some, I think I will be satisfied! I haven't been in a 10 since High School, and don't want to get so small I look emaciated! Good Luck on these last pounds they are harder to get off! LOL Hey, I have nothing but time, till God calls me home! Happy Easter

Bought a size 12 tonight! Not a 24W anymore! Whoo Hooo!
janetsjourneytoslim posted a blog entry in Blog 75574
Yes I am smilin, now in a size 12 (although they are little tight) and it feels so good. I was in a size 24W (packed in) when I started this journey 8 months ago today! I have been at times ready to throw in the towel, but I held on tight! In a few weeks and a few more lbs, I will get into these new clothes with ease! If you are just beginning, or just thinking about having the LapBand and you are unsure, let me tell you, get a positive attitude, don't let anyone talk you out of it, and just get with the program after the surgery and make everyone get out of your way and go for the goal! You will be so glad you did! Lovin my BAND! -
I agree with imaluckydog! I have not had a soda either in 8 months but one! I am down 79 lbs! It is all in the mind about wanting the soda! Get a Crystal Lite instead or something that you like and quickly drink it to get away from the desire! You will get past is soon, best thing is to stay hydrated! Remember "You can not change the Body, unless you first Change the Mind"!

Thanks so much! It is a labor of love and desire to be the person who I was before I got out of control! It is hard work even with the lapband! It is just a tool for sure, but I can do it now and we all can because the hunger in the stomach is not always there nagging us, the head hunger is though, I wish they had a head BAND! LOL

The scale is moving again, only slower this time!
janetsjourneytoslim posted a blog entry in Blog 75574
:rolleyes:Still happy that when I get on the scales, I have not GAINED, two lbs this week since the last fill. Whoo hoo! I did find out when I went in for my Dr.s visit that the Dr. who performed my surgery is moving away, and now I am depressed. But I am so thankful for him and the relationship we have formed. He hugged my neck in the parking lot and boy did we get the stares from the nurses looking on. But he is truly very proud of his patients and how far we have come. He knows it has changed our lives forever! Thanks Dr. Tim! I will always remember you! It is not what you did or how you did it, but how it made me feel that I will remember! Best wishes to him, and I will keep up my promise to him to do the best I can to continue with the good work, for me and him. -

:blushing:Well it finally happened, the Hospital put the article about me in the Local Newspaper! I did not know it was going Local but that the Medical Journal was to have an article about me in it! WELLL~~~a lot of folks started coming to my work to see me, and said that had to be you but the name was wrong under your Photo! They had my name and story correct in the written article, but put the name of a nurse (that I had actually gradutated with) instead of my name, how funny. Hey she needs to lose weight too! It was kinda nice being noticed so much, but I wanted to be smaller when the article came out, oh well! I did give my written permission~and I am so different than that person 7 1/2 months ago was! I will count my blessings. Went to the Gym tonight had quite a workout, felt good to be alive! God Bless and keep you all. My dear friend who passed will be cremated in the morning and we shall give her our last respects. Love and true friendship never die!

I WANT WHAT I WANT!1,000 Bitty Baby Steps to get to that 100 lbs lost?
janetsjourneytoslim posted a blog entry in Blog 75574
 Boy this is so hard! Losing weight has never been easy has it? Well not for me anyway! And I have a body that has a mind of its on! My mind says lose the 2 lbs a week NOW but my body says NO! I really am trying now, back to the good foods, no sneaking a bite or two here and there. And I step on the scales and I have gained? OMG where is that coming from? Well I SHALL NOT BE Discouraged! I WILL keep on keeping on! My MIND is made up to lose that 100 lbs in my first year, and the 29th of this month will be eight months with 74 lbs (NOW) gone! So I need to lose 26 lbs in four months! That does not sound so hard does it? I think I have always been a STRESS EATER, and these last few weeks I have had a LOT of it! My Mom, diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years ago, had a stroke and is now in an Assisted Living House, a very nice place, but of course she hates it and calls every night crying the blues to me, the next morning she does not even remember calling me, but I don't get any sleep for worrying about her and What to Do? I have to Walk off the Stress of this time of my life and try to enjoy every min I have left with her! 1,000 steps for 100 lbs! That is my motto now! When I exercise (outside of the daily steps I take) I tend to drop the lbs consistently! I urge you if you are in a situation with stress WALK IT OFF! Take those steps to get this weight off! I WANT WHAT I WANT AND I AM NOT GIVING UP! -
Saddened today by a Death! Sudden Heart Attack~my dear friend is gone!
janetsjourneytoslim posted a blog entry in Blog 75574
:mad:Only the Lord knows why! My dear friend Rita and my daughters future mother in law died this morning from a Massive Heart Attack! My daughter who is an RN tried to revive her but could not! I am so sad and hurt this morning, I could hardly eat anything yesterday from stress and now I find it hard to drink a protein shake. When I get upset my band tightens! I don't know why but I have to be relaxed to eat. Is anyone else having this experience? Please pray for me and my family and Rita's Family today as the shock wears off and reality sets in. Rita had a gastric bypass five years ago, lost 90 lbs and felt terrific, looked terrific and enjoyed life to the fullest, we just did not get to the wedding of our children this Oct together and to see OUR grandchildren, she wanted so badly! I will miss her terribly in our lives. -
Go for it CD, I had my "Last Supper" at Olive Garden, boy were those bread sticks good! LOL Best Wishes for you surgery and success with your weight loss.

Best of luck and you will be fine, you will be glad you hung in there! Give it a month and you will be on the road to losing those lbs and feeling great, don't over expect the first month and before the fill the first time. Just relax and know you have the Band and it is all up hill from now.
