Well I am fast approching 11 months with the band, lost 3 1/2 lbs this week! Yeah! Hope I can keep it off. I am just now getting to eat on a regular and planned basis again. We have put 185 out on the Beaches in South Walton County, getting another 200 ready to go to classes. I learned today that we will need 35,000 people to do this cleanup, at best we have 6,000 ready to go!!!!Shocking Right? It is going to be a long road back to recovery but I believe we will make it! We must, we have to. Our beaches are (were) so beautiful. I hear that they are removing the carcasses of dead sting ray, porpoise and shark and fish off the beaches at night so no one sees that, they are being brought in with the evening tide. I am so glad I took a relaxing trip to Alaska before returning home to this devastation! But now we have to roll up our sleeves and work! IN one month, it will be a year with the band, and you know it just seems like yesterday to me sometimes now! I am so happy to feel better and I am more confident that I look better and my clothes fit better. But with all this work, I am missing the Gym!!!!:cool2:

Worked Hard with no Food Breaks! 13 hrs. Straight! OIL SPILL in the GULF OF MEXICO!
janetsjourneytoslim posted a blog entry in Blog 75574
:eek:Ate a little cheese and crackers mid morning, Water, and one protein Shake, Gosh did I get hungry before last night at Dinner. I worked straight through 13 hrs yesterday helping a friend staff over 100 workers for the Gulf Oil Spill! By the time I got home and tried to eat something it was just too late, same thing today. But I sent out for some food to have and I munched on it all day, then ate tonight. Whew, I don't eat that much, but when you DON'T get food, you will not feel good! I packed a lunch yesterday, but did not have time to eat. THE OIL IS COMING! We have tarballs on the beautiful white sand beaches in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. I have lived here all my life and NEVER thought I would see this day, it will be a LONG time before they are clean. :tt1: We take some things for granted like a beach, that it will always be pretty! We have to pitch in and work hard to make sure that this is done. I am trying to do my part. Many good people will be out of work because of this, so maybe the cleanup will help them replace income they have lost. I feel very blessed to have grown up on these beaches! :sad:Very Sad Day to see it come to this! I will take some lunch tho or snacks for the day tomorrow, short day tomorrow, but it is my husbands birthday and I will take him out to eat tomorrow night. -

Thanks to all of you, it is heartbreaking to see these white sand beaches devastated with oil. And the gas prices are reflecting it too. I think you can rent a 2 BR Condo in PCB today for $350.00 per month, can't go onto the Beaches, but it is still a nice area to stay. I like the pool best anyway, LOL Yes it looks like they could get something done, BP has no Idea how to handle this and they won't take anyones advise on it. The cap blew off in the Gulf today and now Pensacola Beach has been invaded with heavy black oil on it's pristine beaches, Mirimar Beach is Seascape (Destin) is next only a couple of days away. We have a crew just about ready to deploy to the location here in Walton County, FL. Worked 14 hours today due to the cap incident, will have to have dinner with Hubby for his BD later, he is understanding. Back at it again in five hours. Ate twice today, took me 4 hours to eat the last meal, just much a little here a little there, but drank most all day! It was good and we are still thankful. I was reminded on the way home tonight, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.!" Pray for the Panhandle of Florida. -
Zumba is fun, I have done the class as well. Not this week though, but I have a year paid at the Gym and need to go more often, just lots of interference lately. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

God Bless you I will pray for your day and continued success. This is great! Happy for you!

:confused:Just have to log on before bed each night and one time in the morning, to check out this website! I must say I am addicted to it! I just love you all and am so encouraged to hear from you, get those little words of encouragement, that make me feel on top of the world!!! THANKS! I have a friend who did not have the LAP-BAND® AP, she has lost the same amount of lbs as I have and has also joined the Gym, she had three children, I had four. I (as a Real Estate Broker) sold her the house she lives in, yet she is younger than me and does not have the skin issues I have to deal with, I am so proud for her, but my problem was not hers. I could always follow a diet, and keep the weight I would lose off for a good while, and then here it came creeping back on again! So~~~I got the band, and well I do not regret it, never will. When I commit to something, I am right there in support of the cause 100% Everyone is different~isn't that nice? That diversity is what makes this world and this site so interesting to me. This site and this Band has brought every culture, race and gender together as one in the cause to beat obesity for good! Praise God for the Band. Have a nice night all!:sneaky::sleep:

You are so welcome, I know this is priority in my life, but we do experience LIFE as it is and as it was before the band, and we have to FIT into our lives. Good for you, what difference will a week have, when we have the rest of out lives with the band? Have fun and enjoy! Praying for you to WIN!

Had fresh cantelope and watermelon tonight! The cantelope was as sweet as sugar and I only eat the middle out of the watermelon! My kids all know, Mom gets the middle! Ha! I wanted to go to the beaches here in the Panhandle of Florida before they are oiled up, and not with suntan oil either! Yuk! Sad for us! I grew up swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, and I am my kids and grandkids are gonna miss it!

1st follow up--and great news! (not band related)
janetsjourneytoslim commented on maggs79's blog entry in Blog 93898
I went on a cruise one time and did not take a fill, I could have and decided not to, then, I did not overeat, gain any weight and ate what I wanted. This was only 4 months after my surgery. The trip was to Mexico, I just felt really stuffed after each meal! LOL (A small portion at that!) I just came back after 9 1/2 months of being banded from a Cruise to Alaska, (Guess we do cruise a lot! HeHe) and had a fill right before I left to go. OK, it was only .02cc's! Little did I envision any problems there! To my utter surprise, I would have been better off to wait, cause, and this is from my Dr.! When you are stressed, cortizone is released into your system, you tense and your stomach SWELLS, YES and this dear tightens the BAND! I was so tight from the hurrying to get packed, make the flight to Seattle, ETC ETC ETC, Worried about taking Protein Powder and could I get skim milk, just everything until I made it worse. I don't love flying (height thing) and by the time I boarded the ship! Sick the whole time! Throwing up at every meal, could not even get Ice Cream to stay down, or anything! When I got home, I RAN to the Dr. and he put me under Flouroscopy and saw the inflamation and irritation from all the vomitting and spitting up! He withdrew .o4ccs and I have been able to go back to feeling like I have some nutrition, energy and I have lost 5 1/2 lbs to boot. From My past experience, I can truthfully say, I would put it off for a week, go have fun, don't overdo it, but you will be RELAXED and can Enjoy. And by the way! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! What an Honor for you, Icing on the Cake if you WIN and I pray you do. Post some of your photos in an Album for us if you can! -
The Adkins Diet is great for before Surgery, I followed it too and lost about 15 lbs before the date of my surgery, it helps to shrink the liver and keep it out of the way, no carbs is not really good for us all the time, but temporarily it is! I used the Adkins even after the surgery to speed up my weight loss and keep my protein intake up, but brought my carbs up gradually to 50-60 grams per day and I feel satisfied. I have lost 85 lbs in 10 1/2 months and still losing only about 5 lbs. per month. I am content and happy with that, Welcome to the LapBand for Lifers Club! God Bless and keep.

So Right! Thank God is what I try to do for all the things in my life. I am not going to make the 100 lbs loss for July 29th, but I am not discouraged, or defeated for all things are possible with God and I know that! I will lose what my body needs for me to lose when the time is right, and It may be more or less than that 100 and I will accept whatever it is and rejoice! I am down about 84-85 on any given day in just about 10 1/2 months, and I can live with that! With a little unfill to correct a tightness and inflamation, no real good weight loss for a couple of months due to it, a minor setback, and we will experience those too, but I am going on and going strong! You are too and have been an inspiration to me and I follow your blog. We are lifers now! LOL Keep up the good work and you look amazing by the way!

I know you are so excited, we all are for you! It so seems like a long time till you have the surgery, then you have more liquids, but you will not feel the hunger pains after the surgery, at least I did not, but I "Thought" I was hungry, LOL. Prayers for you and the Surgery Date for your Re-Birth on you Birthday, Happy Birthday to YOU! Yeah!
-
You will feel better, we all went through that first bad day or two, it is Major Surgery and can not get past that one! Why are you throwing up the meds? Are they liquid? They should be, I had liquid loritab. Try melting an aspirin in water, it is pure and helps with my pain when I have any now. The stitches will be painful inside where the port is attached to your grisel inside for a few days, not severe tho, if you keep having pain and or are throwing up do call your Dr's office and report it. Best of Wishes here and prayers too!

Getting my "Fix" from Lapbandtalk.com
janetsjourneytoslim commented on janetsjourneytoslim's blog entry in Blog 75574
See there, just got my "Fix" from all of you and now I can go to work! Love it! Have a great day all! -
Change up your diet, do not get more fills till you lose more weight. Go to straight Protein for three days, then add 20 grams of Carbs for three days, then 30 grams of carbs for 3 days until you are up to 50 grams of carbs a day, stay there till the weight starts dropping. You will lose! Walk or jog or do some exercise for 30 minutes a day every day and LOG the food comsumption. Cut down to Skim Milk and use WHEY ONLY Protein Powder, Body Fortress Strawberry or Chocolate is very Good and LOW in Carbs and HIGH in Protein, get in at least 80 grams of Protein everyday to avoid hair loss.

So happy for you, the beginning of the Journey with the band seems strange and that is because IT IS, and we don't really know how to react with it, but each day is a learning experience and most of us LOVE the change it brings each new day. God Bless! Congrats! -
