Hi, I had surgery in Toronto 3 years ago. The fill Doctor I was seeing in Winnipeg has since joined the army! Luckily I have not had a fill for almost 2 yrs and have maintained my weight loss until recently. Before I gain any more weight ....I am up 6-8 lbs and really am feeling it! Any way, I need a fill and Winnipeg is closer to me than Toronto....anyone have fills in Winnipeg who've had their surgery elsewhere?? Thanks !!!
-
Thank you! i did contact the TLBC and they have not been able to help me. And I've called the Maples clinic 4 times and emailed them and have not been able to speak with anyone there!:bored: I was hoping someone lapband land would have a name and number and it would not be so frustrating!

I had my fills with Dr. Padua. He did not do the surgeries though.
-
Does your doc do fills? The doc I was seeing in Winnipeg for fills is leaving his practice.
-
Are there others out there who pb daily? I do not believe I am too tight.
-
Ya its poor behavior , sometimes the pieces that come back up are quite big!! The reason I dot not believe I am too tight is I'm gaining weight and I am hungry alot more.

Hey Mandy happy to hear you got the de-fill. Did you have to pay? I trained years ago to walk a 1/2 marathon and the thing that saved my feet was...vaseline. I would slather my feet before I put my socks on. I never got a blister or a callus. The day of the marathon my adrenalin (sp)was pumping from all the excitement I ended up running the whole 13 miles. Not one blister! So that is my running advice. If your runners hurt your feet mail them back if you can't back there. Don't torture yourself they are not suppose to hurt. Thanks again for being such an inspiration to all of us bansters. I'll exercise....tomorrow!!LOL

So ya'll remember last week I was not sure if I had heartburn or gall stones? I was getting used to not eating close to bed time because if I did I would "spit" a few times before I could fall asleep. On Friday nite I drank nothing before bed. Spit up too much (I had booked an un-fill with the sweaty dr in Winnipeg for May 30th~ TLBC got voice mail re: the burning) Woke up 3 am must have inhaled some liquid from my belly - coughed it out. Fell back asleep, at approx. 5:30 am I woke barely being able to breath. I was gasping for air. I believe I aspired stomach contents. It took me what felt like forever to cough up what ever was in there. And still I was gasping for air. My chest was in huge amount of pain. I tried to sip some Water but it would not stay down. I used agravol suppositories(sp) (thanks argon) cause I felt like vomiting. I told my husband I NEEDED to see a doctor but I was so scared I did not want to go to the hospital in Winnipeg and end up with some brilliant dr going "duh, I never seen one of these before." So I checked west jet for flights and prices. There was one I could fly Saturday Afternoon and fly back sunday am. So that's what I did. Them I took a cab to the Scarborough Grace hospital. I had to drive 3hrs to get to the airport the 3 hrs on the plane. Got to the ER at 6:30pm The triage nurse looked at me like I was crazy. Thought I just wanted a de-fill. Did not listen to my story of almost croaking in the am. She said I had "picked the busy day" to come. I told her "if I thought I could wait I would have". She said I'd have a long wait. OK I'll wait. So just before 12:00am the doc came in told him my story he called dr yau and he suggested what the doc should take out . He removed the liquid. Immediate relief except for my chest was still in pain from the coughing. I headed for a hotel and had an uneventful nite of sleep flew home the next day. I would do it again, but won't have to. The doc had a great suggestion to get DVD and take it with me to the er wherever I went! Chalk it up as experience!:biggrin1:

Hey Mandi Happy to hear of your continued success!! You are an inspiration to all! Good decision on the de-fill. I was worried that I would be able to overeat but not so. I am actually enjoying eating, before I had to be so careful. Good luck with the de-fill.

Sorry my computer is wacky (like me!!! LOL)
-
My port has always been slightly visible. I thought that would be a good thing. That way the fil nurse/doc would have an easier time doing an adjustment. 4 out of 5 fills/de-fills have been uneventful!
-
LeslieLee My last fill was Dec 5th(my third) and I had a small de-fill under fluro (In Puerto Vallarta!) everything was good...pretty much until I started experiencing what I thought was acid reflux or gall stones.
-
Oh! Marcar... don't be afraid. It was aweful, yes, but I do not regret getting my band or that experience. Flying to Toronto was my choice. I just don't want people where I live and work know my business. And the $375/ flight was nothing since I already $16000 for the surgery.

Sorry I goofed when I posting> I left you a message on the other post Yoda!!
-
Yoda I have heard other stories and warnings but I still had to experience it myself to actually do something. I had warning signs that things were not good. Lots of PB's, slimes, and the heartburn... but until I felt like I was dieing (sp)!!!

I woke up this morning choking on ?? some liquid that caame out of my stomach. This had happen to me before but not nearly as bad as it was this time. I could not breath and was gasping for air. It scared me so bad that I am flying to Toronto were I was banded so that I could see a doctor TODAY. Very scary and I told my hubby that I could not go to sleep again until the doc take some fill out. Has this happened to anyone else? Inhaling liquid from their stomach?

Hi I've been suffering from a burning tummy for a week or so. Before it came and went. I 'd eat rolaids and it would be gone. Now nothing is working. I keep sliming and I have not eaten. Anyone experience anything like this?
-
Thanks Loriely I'll try the tea and a de-fill!
-
Wednesday I was in the most discofort and I had not eaten anything. So I thought it couldn't possibly get worse if I eat! So I ate a prepackaged frozen meal. And the burning was all most gone!! When I woke up it was starting to burn I ate and again it went away. very weird, as long i have eaten i feel ok
-
OK I'll call TLBC tomorrow am.
-
Carol That is great!! Congratulations on reaching your goal!! Sorry to hear about your hubby. Wishing you both health. Take care of yourself.

I had a breast lift a few years ago. My boobs were saggy from years of yo-yo dieting, I guess. Although I was overweight when I had them done I wished I had done it years before. It didn't hurt. I would and will do it again if I need to! you are young, why live the the next sixty years carrying around all that excess skin?! Go for it!

Hello everyone!!! I just wanted to brag a little. (like Argon's co-worker!!!LOL) When I decided to be banded I was HOPING that it would be the end of the roller coaster of weight-loss and gain. But I was a little skeptical. I WANTED it to work but I was not convinced. Well, I am here to say I am a believer!! I had a slow start, times when I could not eat at all but all in all I am so happy with the results! At my 1st fill they did a body composition reading. One thing that bothered me was it said my predicted weight was 156.5 lbs, that was 10lbs more than my personal goal. I happy to report that I weigh 151.5 lbs During my dieting years I always wanted to be skinny or average, but always got so excited when I was a size 13/14 that I stayed there and then gained all the weight back. I am still in awe that I have lost 53 lbs and that I am wearing a size...8!!!!! One happy lap-bander!
