So here goes...Like most people on this site, I have struggled with my weight over half of my life and I am at a point in my life where a lap-band is another tool that I need to use in my life. At first I was very skeptic about having this procedure done. I never looked at myself as morbidly obese. I always thought IU was fat, but never to this extent. My mom introduced me to this idea about four years ago. We went back and forth about it, never really making an exutive decision. When I turned 21, this past December, My mom and I sat down and started to talk about it seriosly. It took me a while to realize that I actually needed one. When we talked through the tears, there were many, I knew that it was up to me to make this happen. I needed to be able to get the ball rolling by myself because if I can't do it, then it won't happen. My mom has been there from day one and continues to go to appoinments with me and be there to talk to. I am still in the pre-op stage, I just got accepted and now I am on my way to loose 5% of my weight in 6 months before I can get a date. Yay! I am excited about this stage in my life and I can't wait for what the future holds for me :)
