RedBone Creole replied to El Diablo's topic in Rants & Raves
Actualy I'm not! And what does this have to do with Lapband? Can't you go to politicstalk.com & post your political views? -
I went to Mexico & got mine for $6000. Fills are $100 for the 1st year with barrium & x-Ray... I hope you can find something less expensive.

Looking for those who started with BMI 35 or less
RedBone Creole replied to homewith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started with a BMI of 30/31... Banded Oct 3rd 2009 People thought I was crazy too! Obesity runs in my family & I was tired of yoyo dieting. Who cares what others think, only you really know if you should do this. I lost 30 pounds in 2 months! I'm 10 pounds from my goal. I didn't feel any restriction after my 1st fill but I feel much better now. I have a 5cc band with 4cc. I will go back for half a cc Jan 8th just to hit my sweet spot! By the way: I am a self-pay who went to TJ Mexico Dr Corvala good luck!!! -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Fly for 1.5 hrs vs. drive for 8 hrs
RedBone Creole replied to kraney's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Fly, you want to get to your bed ASAP & without the bumps in the road. I drove from LA to TJ (2.5hr drive). I had the option of staying in a hotel but I went home after. Your also gonna need to get up & walk the gas off every hour... Wouldn't you prefer doing that at home opposed to the side of the road? -
Foreign Travel & The Band Issues
RedBone Creole replied to Sluggo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are pre-mixed protien drinks 3-3.5 ounces each. You can buy them in a case @ costco or singles @ health supply stores or online. They are portable & you can pinch your nose and swallow them in 60 seconds. They are the consitency of un set Jello but are very strong in flovor like cough syrup. You can buy then in incriments of 24 or 50 grams of protien each. That were the best thing I brought with me. When you travel the last thing you want to concern yourself with is counting grams... Trust me on this one, get some! Bon voyage... -
Should I get another fill
RedBone Creole replied to gbakerc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I didn't feel restriction until after my 2nd fill. My band hold 5 cc's and I'm at 4 right now. I'm scheduling another fill for next month and wanting maybe half a cc this time. I'm hoping for my seet spot! Do what your body tells you to do, everyone is different. Good luck -

What happens when you fill your band to the max?
RedBone Creole replied to BellaNena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my band hold 5 cc's and I'm almost full and my restriction is just about perfect. But, everyone is different. -
Trader Joe's has a line of chicken & turkey sausages that range from 17-21 grams of protien... I'm eatting the Sweet Basil Pesto ck & turkey sausage today: 1 link is 170 calories, 8 grams of fat, 1 gram of carb, 21 grams of protien. They are great. I also bought the chicken mango sausages but I haven't opened them up yet. I figure if I drink a shake & eat a link I'll have eatten about 40 grams of protien. The rest comes throughout the day & I don't have to stress if I got them all in. Enjoy

Heck yeah I'd do it again!!!! I've lost 30 pounds in 2 months and am 10 pounds from my goal. I am a self-payer & wish I had done it sooner. Yo-yo diets gave me low self esteem. Lapband has been the best decision I have made in my whole life!

Foreign Travel & The Band Issues
RedBone Creole replied to Sluggo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I traveled to Paris & London 1 week after my 1st fill and I felt very little restriction however I was not able to stuff myself as I would have done before the Lapband. I suggest you buy some protien bullets to pack in your suitcase so that you can ensure you get your daily recomended amount of it. It does help you lose weight faster. Other than that, it is up to you how you eat regardless of what's available... -
Second fill date coming soon...
RedBone Creole replied to Brighton Belle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it's safe to say you won't feel restriction until your 2nd if not 3rd fill. I didn't feel any until my 2nd, but I only have a 5cc band with 4 cc in it... As they say, enjoy your food now because later on you will start saying good bye to certain things that do not agree with your restriction... -
October 2009 Surgery Date?
RedBone Creole replied to Daria77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm told the same thing too but if you chew it well enough you can skip the liquid/mushy diet stuff... But, go slow & chew, chew, chew -
Can someone tell me what is going on!!
RedBone Creole commented on lovelyqueen's blog entry in Blog 75558
Yes girlfriend, it won't happen over night. Enjoy eatting while you can because one day it will all come to a halt. I felt no restriction after my 1st fill and wondered if I was ever gonna gonna lose weight, but after my 2nd... Oh boy. Just take your time, when it happens you will be plesantly surprised and even happier you stuck it out. And don't froget everyone is different it could take 2, 3 or 4 fills before you feel restriction. -
October 2009 Surgery Date?
RedBone Creole replied to Daria77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it's been a while: here's my update I was banded Oct 3rd in TJ Mexico I had my 1st fill Nov. 6th & my 2nd Dec. 4th. My band holds 5 cc's. I received 2.5 on the 1st & 1.5 on the 2nd. I now have 4 cc's in my band. The 1st time around I was able to eat & felt little restriction. This time around I feel a lot of restriction & I am so excited. I don't eat that much before I feel satisfied. I cut my protien intake in half. My old clothes fit & some are baggy on me. I feel great about my loss but you know us ladies we are never satisfied... I hope everyone else is doing great and continued success in your weight loss! -
October 2009 Surgery Date?
RedBone Creole replied to Daria77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my 1st fill I felt restraint while in the Dr.'s office but about an hour later I was able to eat anything. I get my 2nd on Fri, I sure hope this works better because my hunger has returned... -
I was not expecting my fill to hurt. Although it went smooth under x-ray, it felt like I got stabbed... I don't look forward to my next one on the 4th but I won't stop now. Any suggestions other than numbing the area? Am I the only one who has experienced pain during a fill?

I don't want to scare any of you, but the needle is huge compared to most & left me bruised for at least 2 days after. I did not use novicane, this time I will request it... 2nd fill will be Dec. 4th

Has anyone tried Isopure Nectar?
RedBone Creole replied to Northern Mist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased the same 2 boxes... I can't stand the taste (cough syrup) but they are far better to drink in 3 gulps opposed to a whole protien shake. They are easy to carry & I store them in case I don't meet my reqiremdnts of protien daily. I packed them in my suitcase & took them to Europe. Very handy!!! -
If I have a 4 cc band, is it as good as larger bands?
RedBone Creole replied to shayb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I believe from what I'm told my band hold 5 cc's. I was banded in TJ Mexico. My 1st fill was 2.5cc's at my request. I still feel I need more restriction & hope my next visit will work better than the 1st one where I felt no restriction & was able to eat anything as long I chewed it up. -
How do you feel after your fills?
RedBone Creole replied to thebandedgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got my 1st fill Nov. 6th. I believe my band only holds 5 cc so my Dr. gave me 2.5 I went to eat right after my fill and was able to eat cottage cheese. Since I was still hungry I had a few nachos from my dates plate at the Yardhouse... I was not restriced to liquids or mushies. I felt a little restriction while I was getting the injection and it beagn to fade. I was able to eat the next day in the morning & in the afternoon. I didn't feel too much restriction & I still don't. As long as I chew it well, it will go down. I get my 2nd fill Dec 4th hopefully it will be tighter... Don't forget, everyone is different though. -
Do you drink soda?
RedBone Creole replied to Sarah.R's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've never been a big soda drinker & after the surgery I was scared to drink any at all. Until by mistake I took a gulp of my son's and it didn't bother me at. I still don't drink them but if I wanted to I believe I could without problems. I did however have a glass of Champagne in Paris last week... & no problems... -
