I haven't had that personally but I read in one of the Lap Band information books that this is quite common and can also happen if you eat too much or too quickly. I wouldn't worry too much as it seems to be fairly "normal".

Magic Bullet Blender ? Looking for someone to go in with me.
Scooter67 replied to ChristineXtreme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
After reading all these recommendations for the bullet and knowing that my sister highly recommends the one that her family bought her after gastric bypass surgery I just bought one from Amazon. I can't wait for it to arrive now and am going to sit like a spider by the letter box waiting for it  -
1st fill 3 1/2weeks after surgery???
Scooter67 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon booked me in for my first fill for exactly four weeks after surgery. He booked it on the day I was discharged from the hospital. I think it is another thing that is peculiar to your particular surgeon. Don't worry, you are doing really well and nothing is wrong. -
Slimming - Try to keep it down or let it come back up?
Scooter67 replied to timmmers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I feel the same and am really dreading next week when I move on to solid food. I am eating most things on my plate as they come but they are things like mashed potato and soft veggies and I am still putting chicken in my mini chopper with some gravy and mushing it up for my meals because of the fear that it will get stuck. I have also been told that if I don't get on to solid foods then the band won't be able to work properly. I am dying to try a piece of toast but am scared stiff that it will get stuck and I haven't even had my first fill yet. I only mention toast because I was told that bread on its own causes a problem despite it being on my allowed foods list for this phase. I have come to the conclusion that I am a bit of a wimp  -
Hi everyone, I had my band fitted on 16th November and so far am doing ok. I am just about to start the soft food stage. However I am a bit confused. When doing the pre-op diet I lost 7lbs in weight and in the first five days following the band op I lost a further 10 lbs. Now don't take me wrong, I am really delighted with the weight loss, however for the past week I have not lost anything at all. I have heard this happening to other people but still find it confusing because I have not been eating anything different than I did the first week nor larger quantities. Can anyone explain why this is? My common sense tells me that it is not because I am not eating enough because if that was the case those poor people with Anorexia wouldn't lose weight. I am at a loss

how bad is the post op pain?
Scooter67 replied to Foxyroxy2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. Please accept my apologies for over reacting. Think I must be feeling over sensitive at the moment. I could take the easy route and blame TOTM but know that at my age nobody would believe me  I must be turning into a grumpy old fart -
Hi everyone. My name is Mandy and I had my band fitted on 16th November. I am so pleased to find your forum, there is a huge amount of information here and I am avidly ploughing my way through all the topics and learning a huge amount.

how bad is the post op pain?
Scooter67 replied to Foxyroxy2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know I have just finished reading the thread entitled Everyone's 5 New Years Resolutions and now read the above reply. I would not be so rude as to tell anyone what they should or should not post on a forum or doubt someone's word. I think this forum is definitely not for me. But thanks to everyone who has been kind and polite - I wish you all great success with your bands and your weight loss. -
how bad is the post op pain?
Scooter67 replied to Foxyroxy2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just want to point out that I do NOT tell fibs. I have absolutely no reason to do so. If I had felt pain I would have said so. Sheeeeesh  -
how bad is the post op pain?
Scooter67 replied to Foxyroxy2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it is any help to you, I woke up from my banding operation without any discomfort whatsoever. I have had no pain, no wind, no inconvenience at all. No shoulder pains, no feeling sick or vomiting. In fact, if it were not for the little scars I wouldn't think I had had a band operation at all. The only minor discomfort was the stitches pulling a bit as they healed but as soon as they were removed a couple of days ago even that has gone. I agree that it is different for everyone but I admit I have a very high pain threashhold. However, don't worry about a thing. If it is any comfort I am 60 years old, have heart problems, diabetes and arthritis and still managed to sail through the whole thing without any trouble at all. I hope and pray that it will be the same for you ((((((((hugs)))))))) -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
Scooter67 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded on 16th November in the UK. I have been very, very lucky as I have had no discomfort whatsoever. Only found it a bit uncomfortable trying to lie on my right side in bed but cured that by tucking a pillow under my belly  Had one day clear liquids, once home was on one week soups and shakes, one week pureed foods and now, week 3 am starting on soft food. I go for my first fill on 16th December. Hope I will be chewing real foods in time for Christmas as I am looking forward to joining in with the festivities (although with a greatly reduced amount of food this year ). Hope all you other November Bandits are doing ok  -
My surgeon told me before the operation that some people have a problem with hair loss after surgery and suggested that to avoid that I should take a supplement of Zinc. I started taking vitamin C with Zinc, Calcium and Vitamin D and a soft and chewy multivitamin. Can't wait to find a suitable cruncy one instead as the soft and chewy one is horrible

Thank you for that, I will give it a try and see if I can kick start the weight loss again. You are right, of course, it took me a good number of years to pile this extra weight on and it will take some time to get it off again. I will let you know what happens. BTW I love the quote under your ticker

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)
Scooter67 replied to PrincipalsOffice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I was banded on 11/16/09 and think I was one of the lucky ones, despite my age and health problems, because I have had absolutely no pain whatsoever from waking up after the op until now. Reading other people's stories makes me realise just how lucky I am. Today I started the soft diet. I have been on a liquid diet for one week and then on a puree diet. Today was absolute bliss. I made a cauliflower cheese with some mashed potatoes and it was divine. Had it on a tea plate and enjoyed every single bite. Funny how we miss chewing food. The evening of my op the surgeon came in to see me and told the nurse that I could have jelly and ice cream. I felt like a child on a day trip to the seaside. I took the ice cream but passed on the jelly (jello). It went down a treat. Following morning the nurse came to me and offered me a couple of slices of toast for breakfast  Didn't take more than the surprised expression on my face to make her realise her mistake. She apologised and brought me some yogurt instead. It tasted vile so I flushed it down the toilet when she left. Had a black coffee and was content with that until I got home. The surgeon booked me for my first fill on 16th December when he discharged me. Strange because I will only be two days on solid foods before then. That will be a whole new adventure
