  1. I have never quite understood this. How often are you supposed to get fills? Is it every other month, every month, what? I had my surgery Dec. 3, 2009, and I have only lost 30 pounds. I don't feel any restriction at all, though I certainly do not eat as much as I used to. Now that it isn't raining so much (the Pacific NW sucks as far as weather 8 or 9 months out of the year), I can get out and walk, but gee I had hoped for better results than this. I still have over 100 pounds to lose.

    No restriction whatsoever!

Oh, geez, I hope this is not a forever thing, but still the weight loss is worth it. BTW, I changed my scale and got a newer one, and it read a few pounds higher than my old one, but I am still losing, so I'm happy!

    No restriction whatsoever!

Is it normal for your tummy to growl a lot--I mean make a lot of noise even when you're not hungry? I have the most "ridiculous" noises now that I never had before. My husband looks at me and asks "Are you hungry--AGAIN?" and I just say "No, I don't know why my tummy's being so impolite." Any ideas anyone?

    No restriction whatsoever!

I too have continued to lose, albeit more slowly, even without a band fill yet (my first fill is Jan. 12). I am eating a lot less, though. Since my preparation for banding started a couple of days before Thanksgiving (and being banded on Dec. 3), I have lost 31 pounds! :rolleyes2: I'll take a slow weight loss over no weight loss any day!

    December Bandsters 2009

I got banded Dec. 3, 2009. To date, I have lost 31 pounds! Woohoo! One month and 31 pounds! That is so cool! Though I was self-pay, this was the best money I ever spent on myself. Can't wait until this time next year! :rolleyes2:

    D3 preop and completely disgusted!!!help

Honestly, honey, the preop diet is the worst part of the whole thing. If you just remember that after surgery, you won't be so hungry all the time, and you WILL lose weight, that should get you through. In my case, I had waited so long to have the surgery (to be able to find a surgeon I could afford!), my excitement was enough to make me stick to the preop diet. Plus, many physicians will NOT do your surgery if you don't lose some weight beforehand. If you truly want the surgery and are happy that God has given you a way to stop being overweight for life, then you will be able to stick to the preop diet. As a medical professional, it sounds as though you might be experiencing some depression, which is common for many people. If you have not been treated for this, you may want to see your family doctor, who can prescribe something that will help. If you do have depression and your depressive symptoms do not improve, your surgeon will probably not perform your surgery at this time but will wait until the depression is under better control. Good luck to you, honey. :blushing:

    No restriction whatsoever!

I am so glad you asked this question! I had my lap band surgery on Dec. 3, 2009, and while I am eating much less than I was before, I am still eating more than 1/2 cup. I'm glad to know this is "normal." My first fill is Jan. 12. I have lost 27 pounds thus far, but a lot of that was during the liquid diet before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. I want to lose 152 more pounds. Can anyone give me an idea of how you cook your foods, and what you eat for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, i.e., what foods and amounts? I was given guidelines, but they are not very specific, and I really want to do well. Thanks to everyone who is on this board!
