Very Fustrated!
illuminationlady replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you are going through a time period that is very difficult. Before you get your fills and hit true restriction you may have a hard time losing weight. I did not lose anything for a month and struggled just to keep my weight the same. Now that I have restriction the weight is coming off. Eating 1200 calories is no problem now. Actually it's a bit hard to eat that much. It will happen. Hang in there. You can do it!!! -
So It's True...Haters will emerge as you lose!
illuminationlady replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not found this yet. But I still have not lost that much weight. I guess you will find out who your true friends are with time. Besty hit the nail on the head. You have and will change with this great new lifestyle. Those that truly love you will go through that change with you. Those that don't weren't worth it to begin with. Best wishes... -
Documented Proof of Failed Medical Weight Loss???
illuminationlady replied to cindylew718's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, like you, could make this title the title of my life. However, I was required to show some sort of proof of failure. I went to Weight Watchers (because it was the cheapest) for 3 months and that did the trick. Hope this all helps!!! Best wishes!! Keep us posted. -
Right now am on mushies but yes, I am noticing a big difference. I tried scrammbled eggs last night because I was starving and it was hard to eat. Barely got anything down. Time will tell....

Drinking Alcohol Question
illuminationlady replied to Victorid76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon ran the support group last night. Alcohol was one of the topics included. He says an occasional drink, as Besty stated, is okay...even beer. I thought beer and soda were completely out of the question. He says that the bubbles will not stretch your pouch. He says that what often does happen is it goes through the "funnel" and settles in the lower stomach and can cause cramping. But that the stretching thing is a myth. -
kind of funny, my filet of fish story
illuminationlady replied to Mickey527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got stuck with popcorn the other night. Never again. And you're right about the buns on the fish sandwich I can see how that would get stuck easily. Won't be gettin' one of those any time soon. -
How many ccs do you have in what size band? Just curious. I am at 6ccs in a 10 band as of this morning's fill.

December Delights 2009
illuminationlady replied to illuminationlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just got my third fill. I lost another 3.4 lbs. They are very pleased with my progress. Hoping this fill gives me the proper restriction. My last one gave me some but hoping this one will do the trick! -
Is something wrong?
illuminationlady replied to dooglette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight stalled completely until my second fill. I'm getting my third fill today and hope this will do the trick. You are healing and not expected to lose weight right now. Fills and restriction are the key to weight loss and you can't get one until you're healed. Best wishes!!! -
Wowza! Restriction is great!
illuminationlady replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go Elfie!! I'm getting a fill today and am hoping I'll be right there with ya!!! -
Totally devastated
illuminationlady replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People who are not banded don't understand that our weight can stall without proper restriction. You are doing amazing and should write this off as, she's just ignorant. If she's a close friend talk to her and explain about the band. If she's not a close friend ignore the comment and know that you are doing everything in your power to lose the weight. Best wishes!!! -

illuminationlady replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat them too. They seem to stay with me a long time and I fill up fairly quickly on them. I add the salsa too. Yummy! -

9 months in and confused
illuminationlady replied to comtemplating's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked up satiate in the dictionary and the true definition is: to satisfy to the full; sate. I believe that I am just now grasping this concept also. I'm so used to eating to overfullness that the concept of satiety is new to me. I've always eaten until totally beyond satisfied. I eat a healthy diet; just too much of it. Thanks for the posts on this...something to contemplate...(especially when eating) because now I do have some restriction. My third fill on Monday should really improve the situation. I think I'm getting it though...thanks again! ps just a note of interest...a synonym for satiate is "gorge" -
I was prescribed Phenergan which is just like Reglan for any nausea. I only had to take it while I was on the pain killers because they nauseated me. About three days.

Question about Post Op Followup from your Dr.
illuminationlady replied to ChristopherDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Somehow I think the better the surgeon the worse the bedside manner. I saw my surgeon for a one hour visit when he was evaluating me, during the seminar, and right before the surgery. Since then his PAs do my fills and I'm fine with that. I figure his specialty was the surgery and the PAs specialty is patient care. -
My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!
illuminationlady replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband loves chocolate after dinner. Each night he quietly takes his candy elsewhere and eats it. I, myself, am not a choc. lover but if he were to eat M&Ms right in front of me I would want some. He has always been respectful of me and my dieting. I believe this is all a matter of respect. If you respect your partner you support them in every way possible. Let your husband know it bothers you to smell the wings. He should respect that and eat them elsewhere. This does not make us food divas. It just a matter of respecting eachother as human beings. -

December Delights 2009
illuminationlady replied to illuminationlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did you mean that your band is half filled? or do you only have .5ccs in your band? That's great with the weight loss though! Congrats on the 11 lbs.:thumbup::w00t: -
Am I hooked on "fills"?
illuminationlady replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the PP stating that you may have lost weight and some of that weight was around your stomach. Over time the band can loosen this way. Call and get that fill.... -
need a fill or something else?
illuminationlady replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get another fill and get back on the Bandwagon!! Start today making healthy food choices, portion your food out, weigh yourself regularly. Exercise!! YOu can do this. The band is not magic. You must keep up with the above things for the weight to come off. Best wishes to you....
