    Difference between stuck and full?

When I get stuck it hurts! I slime big time!!! When I'm full I get a slight pain between my breast bone. I know to stop eating then. I know I have restriction and I'm not hungry or I should say starving all the time. I can go 4 to 5 hours without eating or thinking about it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

    December Delights 2009

Okay, so the scale hasn't moved in a week! So, yesterday I decided to measure myself. Haven't done this since Oct. I lost 14 inches all the way around. 14 inces of fat, people!!! Then this morning I was two pounds lighter. So feelin' pretty good here folks. Just wanted to share my victory. My husband keeps calling me "Slim" and "Tiny". God, I love him!!!
  3. Betsy, continued prayers are with you Bob, Welcome to Bandland! You did it!!! Now you just need time to heal. Love the black forest ham joke...lol Leigha, glad all is well Liz, you are beautiful...nice pictures For me the scale finally moved again and I measured myself yesterday. I've lost a total of 14 inches all the way around since Oct. That made me feel pretty good. I'm not posting much these days as I had to have my glasses fixed. Now I'm using my old glasses and can't see!!! It's a struggle. So I'm keeping things short. My glasses won't be back for a week! Ugh!!! Have a great day everyone!
  4. I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time. I don't know what to tell you either. It just seems impossible to be above what the band holds and have no restriction. I finally have restriction and I'm lovin' it. I hope it all works out for you. Best wishes!
  5. My thoughts and prayers are with you Besty and BT! All day!! I went to a support group meeting last night on Behavior Modification. It was run by the psychologist at my surgeon's office. It was interesting and she gave some helpful tips, some of which I already do. I find the meetings helpful and keep me in check. My weight continues to come off slowly as I don't do much exercise (need knee replacement in both knees). J's mom I do get that little pain inbetween my breast bones telling me I'm full and last night go Flame Broiler with no rice and first bite got stuck. I hadn't eaten in 6 hours and was hungry but there was nothing I could do about it. But to answer your questions I do get a the feeling almost everytime. I would think you know your body best and should tell your surgeon if you are not restricted. This would anger me too. Have you noticed a difference with this new fill? Are you more restricted? Anyway, you all have a great day and we will be thinking of BT and Betsy's family....well wishes for everybody...
  6. Yes, try and stick it out. I got a fill a week ago and for 5 days had a horrible time of it. But now I feel I'm just right. If you rush back in for an unfill you probably won't have restriction then.
  7. I walked, and walked and walked. I believe this not only helps with the gas but aides in healing faster. My daughters would walk the neighborhood with me. It helped a lot!!!
  8. Yes, I signed up and am lovin' your articles. You're quite the writer and an inspiration to us all!!! Thanks!
  9. I eat Greek yogart with a little honey sprinkled on top! It's a yummy snack and low, low in sugar and high, high in protein. BT, We are all eagarly awaiting your surgery!! I will say a little prayer for you. Today was a good day. I haven't PB'd in two days. Yeah...I even ate out today, which I never do, and did fine. Was careful though. Have been careful every meal and really learning to listen to my body when I'm full. I'm still not having hunger pains. This is great!! I'm lovin' it!!! I love reading this thread! You guys are all the best of the best!

    Bandsters without restriction....

I would call and in addition I would ask for an "aggressive fill". I did and was granted it. It was the one that started restriction for me. I would call and get in there because your band isn't working for ya! Best wishes!!!
  13. I just wanted you to know that I copied and pasted those ten "rules" that you wrote about and printed them out. I enlarged them too. They are going on my fridg tonight. Thanks for them. I actually do must of them already but am always seeking motivation.

    Just blah...

You should be on a regular diet by now. You should not be having Protein Shakes except for Snacks. Talk to your Nut at the docs office about this. Feel better soon! Best wishes.

Be prepared to feel this way for a while. I was banded Dec. 16th and have just now reached restriction. Be prepared also to combat this with healthy food cholices and portion control or you could gain weight. It was everything I could do to just maintain for what seemed like forever! Best wishes!!!
  17. I believe I am at my sweet spot or close to it. I had a reallly rough time of it after my last fill. Now I can eat but much smaller portions, chewing well and slowly. I have a new lease on life as I see it! The band did that for me. Thank you! Finally!!! Sorry, I'm just really excited after going through months and months of hunger and stalled weight loss I finally am not hungry!!!! On a smaller scale (no pun intended) I am really enjoying this thread. Thanks Leigha!!!

    Bandsters without restriction....

I finally have restriction!!! Ahhh, sweet restirction. I have 6ccs in a 10 band and that is enough for me. It's been almost a week and I am finally learning how to eat again. I don't go for another fill until a week from Monday. But I think I'm finally there! Yeah me....
  19. Yes, I would get a fill. Do what Elfie said to do. Pretty good advice from someone who's been there done that.

Almost 58, is it too late for me?

I'm going to be 51 in March! Was banded on Dec. 16th and sooooooooooo glad I did it. I probably added years on to my life by doing this. You are not too old for this and will live many more years most likely.
  21. My doctor said at the last support group that he did this only once for a woman exactly in your situation. She wanted to eat lobster. He said the only reason why he did it for her was because she was at goal and he knew she would, after the cruise, want herself refilled and back to eating well. If you were at goal this might be an option for you but since you are just starting out, I doubt by July you'll be at goal, you probably shouldn't consider it. Sorry!
  22. I, too, continue to struggle with eating. I had my third fill Monday. I am learning to eat much more slowly, take smaller bites, and chew, chew, chew. Yesterday was the first day without getting stuck, sliming or PBing. So, I was pretty proud of myself. It's a whole new way of life for us. One that I'm ready to embrace. I lost 3.4 lbs. as of Monday. But since then the scale hasn't budged either. And I'm eating way, way less. I don't get it! Anyway, thanks for starting this thread for all us positive posters!!!

    Not sure what to expect

I just can't imagine having myself cut up like that. It was a big decision just to get the band...which is reversible. Also the band is adjustable. I go to support group meetings and there are GB patients there. We banders all talk about our adjustments. Once the GB is done it's done and what happens is up to the patients. I don't know that much about it but to me it just sounds intense. They do lose weight faster but studies have found that over time in comparing Lap Band and GB patients they both even out and lose the same.
  24. I've had three fills and have restriction...finally... however, life has not been easy these past five days. I've PB'd 3 times and gotten stuck a lot. I know I'm not too tight because I can eat, when I eat correctly and the correct foods. My band is doing it's job...finally...just wanted to post to those who don't have restriction yet...it's comin' soon. My new way of life includes much smaller portions, much smaller bites, chew, chew, chew and chew some more, a lot of water and hot tea, and no hunger. That last one is a big one that I've been waiting for. And it's here. So, fret not my friends who don't have restriction yet...you will and it's a new way of life. I'm lovin' it!!!
