Ever hear of "soft signs" ???
illuminationlady replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nose runs too... and sometimes a hiccup. Never heard of it described as a "soft sign" though. Thanks for putting a name to it. -
Are you okay? Just haven't seen you around lately. What's up? Just a little concerned.

Well it's Saturday here in SoCal. Gonna rain. I love the story of the gal who gave up food for Lent. That's hysterical. That's why I don't give anything up. You just end up breaking your promise and that makes you feel bad. Greek Yogart...the best!!! Love, love, love it! Fage is the best with a little honey sprinkled over it. That's my snack. Oh my! Cocoa, That's exactly what happened to me...too funny...lol Has anyone heard from Elfie? She hasn't been around lately. Just wondering. Have a good day everyone!! -

Hummingbird, Where you live is God's country. Really enjoyed the pictures. Thanks. Okay, this is weird. I can eat a white, baked chicken breast no problem. Slow but sure. Yet, on soft, white fish I get stuck. Every time! I thought it was supposed to be easy to eat fish. I'm not over cooking it and it's moist. Maybe I'm taking to big a bite each time. Maybe, I was less careful. But it's happened twice now. Making me fear fish a bit...lol -

Okay, this is weird. I can eat chicken no problem. The white breast baked. But soft fish, like Orange Roughy and Talapia gets stuck every time. Sliming and everything! What's up with that? Maybe with this meat I need smaller bites. I'll figure it out. But weird, Hugh? Karyn, love the photos! Wow! What a difference!!! Congrats. I measured my self and I've lost 14 inches all the way around (total). Can't believe it! It feels soooo good. -

Good Morning everyone! I still can't friggin' see!! It's driving me nuts! Bob, Glad you're feeling better this morning. You'll be back to normal before ya know it. Betsy, Glad to hear Mark is home. I continue to keep him and you in my prayers. I am Catholic and have a little Blessed Mother Statue with a candle. I keep it lit for certain prayer intentions and Mark in now included. Liz, Yes, teenagers can be really bad about there phones. My 23 year old is always texting, surfing the net, etc. when she's with me. I told her it's rude and she states, "It's part of my culture. Don't put my culture down Mom." Can you believe that? I made it through all of yesterday without getting stuck. I ate slowly and did not overeat at any one sitting. I think I'm getting the hang of it finally. Eating too fast is a hard habit to break. I think the band will break it for me cause everytime I eat too fast I get stuck. Behavior modification!!! -
Stuck but no sliming

Yes, it has happened to me several times. But I've had episodes with sliming too. But just being stuck hurts like the dickens!!! -

Does EVERYBODY Vomit?
illuminationlady replied to jebeccar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
adagray said it well. But I will say from reading this forum since Sept. of 09 that most banded people slime or PB. I have been banded since Dec. and am at my sweet spot. And yes, I've slimed and PB'd. I've also had stuck episodes. The thing that worried me about your post is that you said you've had panic attacks. This is not a good thing to do when it's happening. I just want you to be well informed in your decision. But the best thing to do when it happens is to stay clam, possibly try and PB and wait it out. Best wishes!!! -
Stupid band, or stupid me?

I agree with Teacher07. You need a fill and do not have true restriction. I could never eat several cups of food. I have not had restriction long but now I know the difference. Call your doctor and get that fill!!! -

My daughter got her date today. She is having the surgery on March 30th. She has a BMI of 45 so she has some work to do. She is just starting the preop diet and not lovin' it. She has my support though and all my love!!! -
Will a fill change everything?
illuminationlady replied to MissMelissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is good information for me, at least. I've been debating if I should get another adjustment on Monday but I really feel I'm at my sweet spot. Now I know why they call it that...because it's sweet to be there!!! -

No "stuck" episodes today. I just have to take my time eating. Slllllllllooooooooooow down! If I do that I don't get stuck and can still tell when I've had enough. I believe you're right about my sweet spot. I think I'm there. Will discuss it with my doctor though. And we'll see how much I've lost too.... -
I need some helpful advice...
illuminationlady replied to Kirby123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you need a fill and you are not at your "sweet spot" yet. If you have true restriction eating becomes difficult and you no longer think about food all of the time. You stay full longer and don't need the food. Call your doctor regardless and go in for an appointment. Best wishes!!! -

Due to complications I started with an empty band. My first fill was 3 ccs. Second fill I asked for an "aggerssive fill" and got 2 more ccs. My third fill was 1 cc. So I'm at 6 ccs in a 10 band. I did get some restriction with the second fill but the third one did the trick! -

I go to support group every Monday night and it really helps. This past Monday they discussed behavior modification, which I feel is a big part of being banded. A lot of what she mentioned I already do. But it's good to hear it all. It's also helpful to see people who have been successful with the band and others who have not, for many reasons. My point is that I get a lot out of support group and will continue to go. BTW My daughter will be banded March 30th. She is 23 and I only wish I could have been banded way back then! -

I have decided I'm in the Green Zone. Gloria sent me her Power Point and it's got a fantastic chart on the first page. According to the chart and my eating habits as of late I'm there. I kinda knew I was but was still debating on getting a bit more fluid put in. But last night at dinner I ate too fast and got stuck. Lots of sliming. Yuck! I find that's my main problem; I eat too fast initially and then I get stuck. If I eat slowly and chew properly I'm able to finish most of my meal. I guess it's a learning process and also breaking old habits. My 23 year old daughter has decided to get banded. Her preop appointment is this morning. When I first started this journey no one in my family wanted me to do this. Now she is doing it too. I'm so proud of her for wanting to lose the weight. I only wish I could have done this at 23. Then I wouldn't have had years of yo yo dieting to deal with. I still can't see very well. Need my glasses back. Hope you all have a great day. Can't wait to read all of your updates. Hugs to all of you.... -

I also have a list of Wills and Will Nots. Here they are. I actually got many of these from another poster on a different thread. But here they are: A List of “wills” and “will not’s” for me to live by: I will no longer: - Be out of breath walking up a flight of stairs - Search a room to see if I'm the heaviest person around - Give into the newest miracle weight-loss drug hype or diet - Place the blame for my weight on circumstance - Need a double-digit ring or pant size - Binge eat - Fret at the thought of going to an amusement park, movie theater, or ball game (because I will fit into the seats) - Need a seatbelt extender for an airplane flight - Have "such a pretty face" - without the body to match - Shop at Lane Bryant or Torrid - Hide in the back behind plants or walls during pictures - Use food as my escape and comfort - Be miserable in my own skin I will: - Walk tall with my head held high - Be able to shave my legs with ease - Be able to cross my legs while seated - Fit into a classroom desk - Control my food, not be controlled by it - Go for a run - because I can - Not ever forget where I have come from, I will always be kind to those overweight - Be thankful for the ability to change - Become the woman I was meant to be - Shop at regular clothing stores -Buy a bra from Victoria Secret - Wear heels - Have so much more closet space - Be an inspiration to others, as much as others have been to me They are both great motivators for me to stay away from the fridg. -

I have a lot of anxiety over just about anything. All I can say is that getting a fill is a piece of cake. It doesn't hurt and you will finally get that wonderful restriction...well maybe after a few fills...but no worries..it's easy! Best wishes... -
