  1. I think it is going down, it still feels kind of stuck, or maybe I am just full and that is what full feels like with the band? Not sure since I have only been on runny mushies, not anything this solid yet. I did take some liquid extra strength tylenol and it seems to have gone down... Thanks for the advice.
  2. I think that sounds ok. My dr told me to only eat soft fish, but I have read where other drs have said ground beef. My neighbor has a food mill type thing from pampered chef and she said she would run any ground beef through that before eating to break it up more.

    I am miserable

((hugs)) I was banded on the 16th and while I did not have terrible pain, I do have moments of wondering if it is worth it. I even posted right after asking if it was worth it and got some great responses. I can tell you that two weeks out, I almost feel back to normal. My incisions are tender, but I am not overwhelmingly hungry. I am not going to give you advice about food because my dr only had me on liquids for 48 hours and then I graduated to mushy. I have done great on it, but I know that other drs do not recommend that. I know others will have some great, supportive advice.
  4. I have also had chills on and off, but have been taking my temp every so often and I don't have fever. I thought it might be surgery related (two weeks ago today). Now my sister just emailed me that my 6 year old nephew has Swine Flu. I kept him for several hours on Saturday. Now I am worried...ugh.
  5. I am new to this so maybe shouldn't be weighing in, but I did not want my stomach changed. I have a friend who is having the gastric sleeve and I can't imagine why she would want part of her stomach removed. With the lap band, there are risks such as slipping, etc, but I always have the option of having it taken out if it doesn't work out for me, not that I ever would, it is just that the option is open.

    Outpatient vs. Inpatient

I was outpatient and it was fine. I was uncomfortable in the hospital and was so much more comfortable at home. However, I was nauseous and dry heaved on and off all night. Had I been at teh hospital that would not have been an issue. But, I was still glad to be at home. I did not like the hospital at all.

    Can you feel your band?

I could fill it a little bit about a week ago, which is about a week after surger, but it didn't feel tight or restricting, I could just feel it. I think I had a bit of swelling. I can't feel it at all now.
  8. I wish I could have come--my weekends are so busy. I feel great! Dr. Spivak is a really good dr, I am not having any of the hardships that others on the board talk about and I have to think most of it comes from having such an experienced doctor. The only problem is, I have only lost 5 pounds!! I look forward to meeting both of you one day soon!

  9. Thanks everyone. I took one last night. It felt great. I have glue, too, and have no pain at all in my incision site except slight tenderness, so I figured it is ok.
  10. Not shower for cleanliness, mine said the next day, but I mean submerse yourself in the garden tub and soak. I would kill for a hot bath right now! I have looked through my literature and he doesn't say and I googled and it said 3 weeks which seems a little long. Thanks!
  11. Well, darn it, I wanted one tonight. I wish I would have thought to call yesterday. I will call Monday morning I guess.

    how long!!!!!

Today is day 10 for me, and I have almost no pain, a slight burning if I bend over or something like that. I also feel like I did before that surgery as far as hunger and feel like I could eat a hamburger or something--which of course I won't! After surgery, I could only sleep in a recliner for the first 5 nights.

    banded monday sept 14th

The nurse told me that it was mostly for patients who are bedridden, but for lapband patients, we are up and around pretty quickly, so not to worry about using it.

    Rashes????

I have an itchy rash, too. It is on my back and is radiating around to my stomach. I guess it is hives. I called the dr and they said they doubted it is related to the lap band.
  15. I am terrified about it slipping! I can feel my band, it doesn't hurt, but it feels up high. Like something caught around my breastbone. Also, it doesn't feel wide open, when I eat mushy foods, they seem to feel stuck for a little bit. I was banded last Wednesday.
  16. I was banded on 9/16...my dr had me on liquids for 48 hours. I have been really careful with mushy foods to make sure they are really mushy and have only been eating small amounts to make sure I don't overdo. Is it normal to feel the band? I know that is a weird question, but it just started yesterday. It doesn't hurt, I can just feel it when I eat or burp. I don't have any saline yet. This morning I ate a scrambled egg and could feel it going past the band (or at least that is what it felt like). Since I have seen so many people on liquids for a week, I am a little concerned about slipping.

    A question...

rottie, I would love to keep up with you. I am also glad to find someone who was banded on the same day. Please send me an email!

    banded monday sept 14th

I was banded on the 16th and so far, so good. Yesterday I had a good day, felt pretty good and was up and about, even did a little laundry. Today, I am not feeling as good, but managed church this morning. My dr only has Clear liquids for 48 hours and then I can go to the mushie stage. I made myself a scrambled egg for Breakfast this morning and so far so good. I am going to have pureed Soup for lunch in a bit, but I am not very hungry right now. kiki--I am so sorry about your husband! The only place I can sleep is in the recliner for right now. But, I am up and active during the day, so hopefully that helps. What a horrible thing to have happen!
  19. That is where the conflicting information comes in--his literature and website say 24-48 hours, but the booklet I got after surgery and the nurse told me 2 weeks. But, I do not think I can do the two weeks. I can't sleep tonight because I am so hungry. I just got up and drank some milk (which I dispise) blech.
  20. Ahh, good. I was worried. Even the nurse in the hospital told me something different. That makes me feel good to know I am doing it right!!
  21. I have conflicting info about the liquid phase. On his paper and his website, it says 24 to 48 hours on liquids. On some other paperwork he gave me it said a week. I really had nothing until yesterday and I did all liquid. Today I have had a protein shake, some pureed soup, and some pudding and am doing fine. I hope I am doing what I am supposed to. I reallyhave not eaten much at all. But, I dreamed about food all night last night and ahve been really starving today, but can't eat much when I do eat. Oh,I had coffee today, too.
  22. Me! I was banded on Wednesday. I live in Seabrook. I would love to meet or start a support group.
  23. Where do you get the protein bullets? I also heard about protein shots from Sams. I might try those.
  24. Thanks everyone. I am better today. Just weak and hurting a bit. I am really hungry, too. I am going to make mayself have 3 meals today and am going to make some blendarized soup. I bought a bunch of yogurt and protein drinks before surgery and all of them are just too ssweet for me. Blech. I appreciate the encouragement!!
  25. I had terrible nausea the first night and into the morning until I could finally get some relief when the dr called in phergan. I hurt...please tell me this wasn't a mistake...I thought I would have bounced back better than I have!!
