I have been overweight most of my adult life since age 25. Each year since then I gained 5-10 pounds, resulting in a weight gain of 140 pounds by the time I was 48. When I turned 48 I had knee pain and high blood pressure showed up. I was exhausted and stressed. I was terrified. My attempts at exercise and dieting were sporadic. After losing 10-15 pounds I would plateau and feel defeated. It became clear to me that I would need some extra intervention to get back to a healthy BMI, blood pressure, and to enjoy living life again. I have two friends who had lapband surgery and had great results. They both encouraged me to know that I could also benefit from this lifelong health change. I went to a meeting, and began the steps to move ahead. I am scheduled for surgery in 8 days and am in the pre-op surgery liquid diet stage right now.
