On November 18, 2014 I had a gastric bypass, the surgery itself gave me no problems, but I found out that I was allergic to both the pain medicine and the glue that they used to close my incision. So far I have lost almost 40 #. I am currently feeling as if I made the wrong decision in having the surgery, my family just tells me it's because of the holidays. It is better now that I have started soft foods, as the pureed stage was getting old.
In 2009 I had a lap band put in and the band ended up slipping and I never lost any weight.
I am very lucky that my family is very supportive. I have a son and daughter-in-law who I send my walk info, I use map my walk, every day and they always encourage me even though they are far away. Thank goodness in this case for electronics.
I need to start working out with weights soon. I used to enjoy working out and hope to get in the swing of things soon.
My surgery was at first denied by my insurance, through a doctor's office I heard of the Lindstrom Advocacy Group and although it cost $900 we went through the appeal process with them and the insurance finally approved my surgery. The people at the group were great and were able to help me through the process with much less stress. I would love to do a 5K with my sons and daughter-in-laws in Sept 2015. This is a long term goal and I hope through hard work and perseverance I am going to accomplish it.
