    Frustrated

Hi SandyS, I have thinking about you and if you have any breakthroughs. I am still stalling (5 wks now). I am working out a lot, but I am now starting to revert back to some old habits. The frustration is really hurting me. I do hope that you are doing better. Any advice would be great.

    Craving pickles!

I am 13 wks. post op and I am still craving salt. In the beginning I would lick the salt off pretzels and then throw the pretzel out. Now not only am I still craving salt, I crave pickles also. There must be something in all the pickle "mess" that our bodies want. I now have pickles very often with my lunch. At least we know that we can't all be nuts.

    Frustrated

I also in my third month, surgery date Nov 18. I have gaining and losing the same 3 pounds. Just when I think that I have finally beaten it, the weight comes back to life. I was (and still do get) frustrated with the process. Around 2 weeks ago I came up with the idea of measuring myself again. Sure enough I had lost 3 inches off my waist, 3 off my thighs etc. So now I try not to weigh myself as often and rely more on my clothing. I work out 5-6 days a week. I lift weights 4x week (2x upper body, 2x lower body), I walk 3-4 miles weather permitting and I walk another 1.5 miles on the treadmill on my gym workout days. Even doing this and watching my diet I wasn't losing. Now I just work on staying positive and knowing that at some point the weight has to come off. I see my surgeon and nutritionist the first week in March, so hopefully will find out more then.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

I am 55 and had my surgery on Nov 18. Definitely walk all you can and then start with weights. I am at a stall 10 weeks post, but still working out. I am hoping things will change soon. My first grand child will arrive in April and I can't wait to do things with her. My only regret is that I didn't do this earlier.

    Weight stall

I am currently 10 weeks post op and have lost 50 #. I have not lost any weight in the last 3 weeks, I have heard of the 3 month stall but did not expect it to happen so soon. I work out 6 days a week, all 6 days with some form of cardio(only walking), distance, intervals, fast pace etc. I also do upper and lower body weights 2xweek. I have not started sit-ups as I was told not to start them until my 3 month visit. Does anyone have any ideas to get me jump started? I am getting frustrated and have slipped back to my old ways twice. Please help me.
  6. I am 9 weeks post-op and am finding that my fingernails are splitting and breaking. Any ideas or solutions?

I want to lose weight faster!

I found that when I actually started getting in all of my Protein I started losing weight faster, about 1 # a day. As I am only 9 weeks post op this might just be coincidence. I also started doing interval training on the tread mill instead of just walking on a treadmill and lifting weights.

    What multivitamin do you take?

I also was taking Flintstones chewable and found that it last a nasty after taste in my mouth. I talked to the nutritionist and she suggested that I take Pro Care Health Bariatric complete chewable. It still leaves a little after taste, the good thing is that I only have to take 1.

    Did I lose enough weight?

I also lost 20# my first visit 2 weeks, I was depressed at first after hearing about all the weight that people could lose, but then after being thumped on the head for a few times I realized that 20# was a great loss. Now I am losing 6-8# a week and get discouraged, I just have to remember this is a long term process and not a miracle pill. I have increased my walking and am feeling better about myself.

    Protein help

I am 5 weeks post-op and am having trouble adding the extra Protein to my diet. The soft foods are going well, but I can no longer tolerate the Protein shakes. The smell and consistency make me ill. I mix mine with milk and that helps, but very little. How can I add more protein to my diet. I have had a couple of suggestions, but am unsure if I can use them now. One is a Peanut Butter protein powder(PB2) and mixing it with nectar chocolate Truffle. It sounds as those things are on the restricted list, I know they are protein powders. I called my nutritionist, but so far now call back. Any help?

    Need help!

I am 5 wks post op and would love to find a support group near Hanover, PA. Any one out there looking to start a group?
  12. I forgot to say that I had a lapband put in, in 2009. The band slipped and Dr. said that I needed to go with the bypass. So I started at 300#. Am now at 264#.
  13. Hi there, I had my surgery on Nov 18, 2014. We are pretty close. To date I have lost almost 30 pounds. I have to be truthful as I feel as if I made a bad decision having the surgery. My family tells me it's only because it's the holidays and that I should have waited until after. Probably true. I am walking about 1 1/2 miles a day and need to start weight training. I used to love working out and am looking forward to getting into it again. I am already off 2 of my diabetes medicines and my high blood pressure medicine. Gotta love that. Are you on the pureed portion step? I just started soft foods and am loving it. Are you having trouble getting your Protein in? I manage my Fluid, but still have trouble with protein. So what are you doing and how are you feeling? I found that the first few weeks were the hardest.
