Who has had the Lap Band surgery and it failed? Also why do you think it failed?

I'm built about the same as you. Except I'm 315# I am going to a seminar Sept. 22, 09. I have done my 6 months supervised diet. But I weigh more now than when I started. -
I am writing you, because you are one of the few patients of Dr. Mailapur that had the LapBand. I live in Athens, and realize that you haven't posted in a while. I too am interested in the LapBand and am considering going through Dr. Mailapur. I have read that he attended a workshop about Oct or Nov last year and now is more in favor of the Lapband. I guess I want to know your opinions on the surgery and how your struggle has been since surgery. Are you still losing weight and how much have you lost. I am at 315pounds. I realize I will still have to work hard after surgery,but I am not prepared to have the bypass, it scares me to death to think about the baypass. Please write me at my email--vlmar55@earthlink.net. There is not a doctor in Athens that I would trust to put a bandaid on me. Nashville is about 100 miles. -

:sad:Hi, everyone. I am Vickie and am 53 years old. I too have tried every diet known to man and then invented some. Always same results...little or not long lasting. I am about to become a grandmother for the 3rd time and will be babysitting a newborn fulltime. I have a number of health issues that are only made worse by my weight. My BMI is 56!! I have always been terrified of the bypass, but I'm not as scared of the LapBand. I have done my 6 mos weight loss required by BC/BS of AL, and attended a seminar at Vanderbilt, but I live in Athens, AL and don't want to have to drive the Nashville all the time. I signed up for a seminar with dr. Mailapur, but had to cancel. I am now in the process of rescheduling with him. I am looking forward to discussing my and your progresses together. Has anyone used DR. Mailapur and if so, were they satisfied? Any help or advice would be appreciated.:wink:
