  1. Well.....last Wednesday I went to the information session at the hospital. Called the next day and I got a consult with the surgeon for November 23rd! not bad!!!! I am excited to start this process! Just had to share!
  2. I know I am just starting this wonderful journey...but today....a fat crappy moment happened. Our neighbors are getting their driveway re-done..and the workers working on it made fun of me in spanish. I know enough spanish to get "lady" "fat" etc........ This motivates me even more to try and get this done. I can't wait for my measely informational session next WEd.....I hope it's the start..... :tongue2:

    BCBS HMO Blue

so what tests did they want done? I am wondering if I can call my pcp and ask to have some of them scheduled now...while waiting for the info seminar. Probably jumping the gun.....but hey? My bmi is "only" 38...LOL...but my doc thinks that with PCOS and being medicated for anxiety/depression might get me approved.......wondering if that is true?

I go to the informational in October and we go from there.....Can I ask what your bmi was and if you needed any other "comorbidities?" to qualify.....What else does hmo blue require prior to surgery? Now I am curious! LOL

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

wow! congrats to bostonlady and thinking! I am juuuuust starting this process and revel in the fact that you guys have now started this new life! I have a question tho'....I called to attend an informational session at the Faulkner...and I was wondering is that different from the meeting you all are talking about? I am assuming so.....yours is most likely a support group and mine is probably for the new and bewildered! LOL..... Keep me posted on your progress! And, may I ask you.....how long did it take to have the surgery since you started this process? I am trying to wrap my head around when this *could* possibly happen......

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

So....what I gather from reading posts is that after the information session, I will have a better sense of what LB entails and what tests I will need to get done prior to surgery and/or to get approval. I never thought of snoring! You are right...I do snore....most nights my husband leaves the bed! So what tests are the ones I need to get done prior to surgery? I know I will learn more at the session in October...but you all ARE my information session! LOL..... :blushing:

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

Good Saturday morning to you all! I have been reading and lurking and seeking info! I just had my physical with my pcp and she referred me to the informational session at the Faulkner coming up in October. I have a BMI of 38...but I am wondering if having PCOS and being treated for anxiety/depression would qualify me for BCBS/HMO blue. My blood pressure was a little elevated but not sure what they will consider for a comorbidity. Any ideas? I am so encouraged by all of your stories/will power/ and dedication to yourselves. What will happen at these informational sessions? Looking forward to it.
