What do you use for blending?

I had a defective magic bullet and was miffed about the whole thing....then a friend told me to get the Ninja Prep....man is it awesome! Love the darn thing....good to know there are many options out there...
  9. This is going to save me! As many of you...I assume...I love love love pasta. I found a recipe on Rachel Ray's website that called for spaghetti squash, ricotta cheese, peas (you can substitute) and a jar of sauce. OOOOOH my....can I say it was delish....and "low" in carb....and almost just as good as my old plate of pasta. I didn't get that carb overload/coma afterward either. I had never tried spaghetti squash before....I don't know why...but now I need to research other recipes for when I have a spaghetti/carb craving! Just had to share.....yum!

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

boo hoo....my husband just reminded me that his going to the Sox game tonight (he shares season tickets wtih a buddy...and tonight is his game). BLECH! Which means I can't make it to the Faulkner group tonight. I was psyched to go as a 12 day post op-er! Oh well.....Maybe next month!

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

I am planning on coming too....might be a few minutes late. See you at the Faulkner on Monday peeps!
  16. Ok...I know what you all are going to say:wink:...but I am 8 days post op, on full liquids for another 6 days. Since surgery, I have lost ummmm....about 7 or 8 ish pounds. The scale has stalled at the same weight for 3 days now. I "know" you can lose like 1 or 2 pounds A DAY forever.....but I am thinking....GEEESH...I am drinking freakin' liquids here people...you'd think it would keep falling off for now. Anyone experience this stall so "early" in the post op phase? I sort of expected it when we add food back in....maybe it's my body's way of healing? Who knows. I am not discouraged but just wondering if I am doing anything "wrong"....:bored:
  17. sweetie...I don't think you read all the responses, and how I corrected my typo in my second response. This post wasn't about losing weight...it was asking if anyone else was in the same position...where the weight loss seemed to slow in the second week of full liquids. That's all. I appreciate everyone's story, as we all have one. I don't...I repeat...don't expect a fast weight loss. I was just asking a question. I have a feeling I will be a "slow loser' and that is very typical of my history. I was hoping to hear that others were in the same boat. So you didn't hear the " "OMG I'M 3 DAYS OUT AND OMG BUT I CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT! OMG OMG OMG OMG!"....from me. but thanks for your input!

    Incisions

I have 6 incisions and I was banded on teh 28th. Some of mine have already fallen off! The itching for me has been bothersome mid-day for some reason. hang in there!
  19. I do feel well! Just the port site is bothering me these days. Getting hungrier as the days go by, but still not very hungry...which I guess is a good thing! Thanks for the pep talk....now, what protein shake shall it be tonight....SIGH
  20. true true....good to know I am "in the norm". Yes...my bmi just squeaked by at 40.....
  21. Thanks Donna Jo from Idaho! Thats just what I was looking for! I guess I am normal! :glare: I figured it was my bodies was of saying...."hold on there....what's going on." I typically hate the scale and never ever step on it. I have had the doc's office and a nurse from the my health insurance call to see how I was doing and what my weight was...so I stepped on and I was surprised to see the same number! I look forward to upping the calories! and getting clearance to exercise! I can't complain about the full liquid diet toooooo much. My muscle milk light shakes are pretty good, as are the other Protein shakes I have going on....but still....real food is around the corner I suppose! I have an appt with the surgeon/dietician on Monday....hopefully they will be happy with the weight loss so far. :bored:
  22. LOL...Oh no no no....you must have misunderstood me....matter of fact, I just read my post and it should have said..." I KNOW YOU CAN'T lost 1 or 2 pounds everyday....not can! LOL...silly me.....must be the lack of caffeine affecting my head! I said in my original post that "I know what you are going to say"....and I do! My question is that....I thought most people lost consistently on the liquid phase of the diet and the scale slowed down when you introduced actual food. And to clarify...I am not on clear liquids..I am on full liquids. I even can have milk based Protein shakes. I thought it was just odd that my scaled hasn't moved "much" and then not at all for the past 3 days. Weird having only like 500-600 calories a day...one would think it would "melt off"! LOL again...I "know" all of this....was just wondering if anyone else saw the same thing happen. I really don't have unrealistic expectations....just askin a question is all! :bored:
  23. hi friends! I was banded on the 28th too....spent 1 night in the hospital and came home around 5:30 pm yesterday. I have 6 incisions and 2 of them are pretty sore. I have been taking pain meds and tylenol but will try and see how I do without pain meds today. I am getting my carnation shakes down...slowly....now to make sure my other fluids get in. My goal is a shower today...as they told me to take the bandages off the ones that have that clear bandage stuff on them and leave the steri strips there. looking forward to some fresh air and walking outside! Hang in there peeps...... Holly

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

Hey guys....I am home (as of late aft. yesterday).....It wasn't a bad experience at all...But man, my stomach muscles (or lack there of) kill! I feel better up and about rather than down. Not sure why...I guess I need to change my signature now...and maybe add a ticker!

    Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

Hey! The docs just left the room telling me of the upper gi, etc....how funny. I have been resting a bunch, but as you know...it's a revolving door around here. I kept getting woken up by someone wanting to take my vitals, give me meds, etc...And everytime I push my friend the pain pump....I nod off! So far, so good. The doc said the incision on my right hurts more because that is where the liver retractor was....ahhh...lovely. The kids are in school today and tomorrow...thank God! And....since the weekend will be so nice, my husband has lots of outside plans for them....I'll keep ya posted...but I am getting sleepy again cuz I just pushed my pain pump! LOL
