Julie - I am newly banded (July 21st) as well, but if you want someone to go through the process with you, I am open to being a buddy. also, I have recently joined a group on meetup.com that is for lap-band patients - it's very small - so far I think there are only 5 people, but a couple of them have been banded for a year or more. If you are interested, let me know. my e-mail is clfinzen@yahoo.com. If you e-mail me off line, I can give you my phone number. Hope all is going smoothly with you . . . Chris:thumbup:

FLOWERS - 4 weeks of mushies are you kidding me?!?!?!? Thank goodness my doctor only makes you have fluids on week 1, semi-soft on week 2, and after that your free to eat as you please - or as your stomach pleases!! ;o)

Hi All! Today is my 1st day back at work and I'm feeling really good. I didn't expect to take a week off of work when I scheduled my surgery, but thank goodness I did. I started semi-solids today . . .I never thought a scrambled egg would taste so good!!! LOL Since my pre-ops appointment on 7/15, I am down 17.6 lbs. I don't know how, but I'll take it and hope it stays off!!! Jerrysgirl - Dr. Marsden did my banding, and I love him. He is very good and very funny. I don't know much about the vertical sleeve. What exactly is it? Laz97 - HI! You said you're starting your journey all over again - if you don't mind me asking, what happened? Flowers - Honey, it is much too hot to walk outside!!! I think I might try to mall tonight. I'm not moving too quickly since I'm still having incision pains, but a nice stroll in the mall sounds pretty good to me. You said you are still have issues with gas? I don't feel like I still have a gas build up from the surgery, but if I eat the 1/2 c. of food I'm supposed to eat, my left shoulder starts to ache just like a pocket of gas is still sitting there. Have you ever heard of such a thing? SkinnyDeb - Congrats on your surgery date.

Thanks - I know I need to just relax and keep with the liquids, but for some reason, today I am really wanting to chew something - I WANT MEAT!!!! lol lol lol Just two more days and I can have some tuna - I never thought I'd look forward to the having canned tuna!!! LOL Thanks for sharing your details, it sounds like you are doing fabulously!!! You must be so proud of your achievement so far!!! I hope I can do as well. Do you remember if you lost a lot of weight the first week you were banded? I have read on the other threads that people gained approximately 10 lbs. the 1st week through the 2nd week of banding, but I have actually lost about 13 lbs. in the past 5 days. I'm hoping that is acceptable. I love to have your chili recipe as well . . .I see you have a few crackers with that. You don't have any problems with those?

PJ - I guess I'll just stick with what I'm doing - soup with nothing in them, gatorade, a shake . . yadda yadda yadda LOL what does day 5 say? that's where I'm at . . . Congrats on your date!!! who is your surgeon?

Aunt Lucy - Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate your words. Today is a good day - feeling pretty strong and surprisingly hungry today. Do you know if it is absolutely necessary to wait 7 days after surgery to begin soft foods. I am so sick of clear fluids I could spit!!! LOL I would love a yogurt or some tuna . . . Can you tell me about your lapband experience? When did you get banded? How has your weight loss been going? Do you exercise? What do you eat on a normal day? Who was your surgeon? You know the skinny on what to expect basically . . .

Hi Everyone! It seems everyone on this thread is in the DFW area. My name is Chris and I live in Arlington. I was banded on Monday, July 21st. I am REALLY going to need a buddy/mentor/kick in the butt/hug/shopping buddy. . . . If anyone here is interested in making an e-mail or face-to-face connection please let me know. As for my experience so far, I think it must be typical. I'm down 12 lbs since my pre-op appointment on the 15th. I actually thought it would be less uncomfortable than it really turned out to be. Gas pains are NO JOKE!!!!! lol Just yesterday and today, I really started to feel better. Today, I'm hungry and am trying to eat and drink. I think I've gotten myself slightly dehydrated, so I need to nix that in the bud before it gets out of control. I am starting out at 313, size 26. My goals are to just be able to run if I want to run, buy clothes in any store I choose, and enjoy life to the fullest - not halfway as I have been. I've always been heavy - went from childrens clothes to womens size 13 - no in between - so this is going to be an entirely different experience for me. I would love to hear from you guys/girls in the DFW area . . . thanks

I just found this website and I think it's awesome! Height: 5'6" Weight: 313 lbs Goal: 175 lbs I'm schedule @ Wise Regional with Dr. Marsden. I'm really looking forward to getting this over with. The 6 month pre-approval program seemed to last 6 years!!! But the day is finally here . . . anyone have comments on Dr. Marsden, Wise Regional, tips, etc. I'd love to hear them. thanks Chris

I was banded on Monday as well and have been feeling horrible gas pains too. But today, is MUCH better. I used a new antacid called ULTRA XCID - it's like yogurt consistancy and seemed to get things moving really well. -
