Tired of fighting my weight  for 30 somewhat years, I started thinking about weight loss surgery after I saw an acquaintance had lost weight.  When she told me how, I made up my mind and told my family that I was going to have by-pass surgery last  August, 2008. They were very positive and excited for me. I went to a seminar for a W/L clinic in Langhorne, PA but found that my insurance would not cover the costs.  I made an appointment for the Dr. who was in my insurance plan 11/08 got all the information to study and started making all of the required appointments in order to be approved by not only insurance, but also by Dr. Washington's office.1. Six consecutive month of primary care physicians appointments-should show some weight loss...I didn't lose a pound.2.  Three meetings with nutritionist...I learned how I was going to have to eat after surgery3.  Visit with psychologist along with comprehensive personality test...I'm somewhat normal...lol4.  Pulmonary clearance/sleep study...diagnosed with severe sleep apnea...Dr. wanted to know how I functioned every day it's so bad.5.  Cardiologist clearing ok.6.  Endoscopy 7.  Pre op diet of protein shakes  lost 17 lbs in two weeks  yeah8.  Final weigh in day before surgery approved9.  Surgery Day 8/19/2009  Went to the hospital at 5:30 am by the time I was prepped and made comfortable, I met the Doctor at 8:30 am.  Was down in recovery at 10:15 am and then back down in Short Stay Unit by 11:30 am.  Released at 12:15 pm and home by 1:00 pm
