I'm a failure...PLEASE HELP ME!!!
proudmom replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You might need to go back to your doctor and have them check the fluid in your band. I know I waited 7 months to go in when i gained 20 lbs back. I found out that i had 1 and half cc less than i should have had. I guess my body absorbed it. You will gain muscle mass, but muscles do help burn more calories. I also have PCOS and carry my fat in the belly and yes I am having a very hard time too. We must not give up and keep at it and the excercise is a must for us both........... You will still want those foods and can still eat them. You will just have to eat less of it than you would have before the surgery. Remember the lap band is a tool. You are still a human being with desires. Having the lap band doesn't mean you can't enjoy peach cobbler once in a while. The night before I have my fill in the lap band I tend to go out to eat and I think this may be the last plate of food I can ever eat. The plate of food gets smaller and smaller each time. I have finally got to the point I can order a salad and then get a little from my husband's or child's plate and be content with that. Sometimes I still want to eat just because the food taste good and it is there. Thanksgiving and Christmas party is still kind of hard. I use to get a spoon of everything. Now, I just get a spoon of a few of my favorite of all foods.

Alot of the over eating is a mental thing I have found. I still struggle mentally. Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming up and we meet up with family and friends and eat. It is hard to not over eat. The no drinking was really hard for me. Everytime I go out to eat and say I want nothing to drink, the server looks at me like I am crazy. I lost 11 to 13 lbs the 2 weeks before my surgery. It should start dropping off of you soon. Are you walking at least 1 mile a day also? You still have to burn off more than you take in to lose the weight.

I have had many diff things said to me also. One time when I was about 15 and weighed about 160lbs. ( Wish I could weigh that again) I use to be on a soft ball team through my school. One day my team was practicing. I was running to catch the ball or either running the bases. A teenage boy started yelling earthquake over and over again. I never did like that boy at all.
