My update after doc visit-post OP

Thanks so much! I feel like a different person.
  2. CONGRATS! They always say everything in moderation. It sounds like you have bonded with your band and gained the benefits of it.

    One week post-op/ full feeling

Wow. that makes perfect sense. But in my case its even water...
  6. Hi all. I have a weird question. If your not supposed to feel restricted or full until after your first fill, why do I feel full with any liquid I drink at all? Even 3 little sips of water. It will take me at least 6 full hours to drink 20 ounces of water and that is with a very uncomfortable pressure and bubbly mess going on inside. If your supposed to be able to drink normal amounts of water and not feel restricted, I just don't get it. Liquid runs through even the smallest of space........Please help me to figure out what is going on! I am losing patience quick with this. I have done everything I am supposed to and this isn't going well. On a positive note......my pain is almost all gone in the incision areas:thumbup:

    One week post-op/ full feeling

Thanks everyone for your support! Talked to the nurse again today and she has me scheduled in the morning to see if any liquid was left in the band during surgery. She said at this point I should be able to drink liquids with no discomfort at all. She was concerned because I can't get a 16 oz protein drink down and no other form of nutrition. I have lost 13 lbs since surgery on the 12th. I don't want to lose it this way... Hopefully, relief will come in the morning

    Pain!

I hear ya girls!(and guys) i am so uncomfortable everytime I drink. I have huge burps that give me some release though!I went back to work yesterday and had a good day. (I run a foster youth program.) Mostly desk job. This morning, I added 4oz of milk for my protein and drank 3 oz and was so sick!!! 2 hours later, I belched massively, (gross at work) and I am starting to feel better. This is not easy....
  9. Hey you! Glad to hear your doing so well. I am feeling human today. Actually got down my liquids today AND 2 bites of SF jello! Yippee. Thanks for the note and encouragement!

    pre-op clear diet?????

I was just banded on the 12th sooo....Im a baby. However.... Clear fluids preop and no protein???? I don't think I have ever heard of that. I only had to do a 7 day pre-op low calorie, high protein diet, and 24 hours of clear liquid only. Protein drink included! After reading so much on these boards and so many other surgeons ways of doing this, it may your doc's way! When are you scheduled for surgery?

    Pain!

    Glad your feeling better!
  12. So funny to sit down and this is the first thread I see. I bent over about 10 minutes ago to pick up my daughters shoes...and I gave the biggest, loudest burp since surgery. OMG did it feel wonderful! So much pressure was released! LOL

    Starving!

Hi Jessica- Im glad your doing so well. That would be great if we could be friends. It is better talking with people going through the same stages. I.. of course love that others have gone before me as well! LOL Today has been soooo much better for me. I am at work and am sipping a Protein Drink slowly. I started at about 745am and Im down about 12 ounces. No pain, yet. I am really hungry today though. My tummy is really roaring!

    Starving!

They stated that it wasn't filled but when he flushes the band, there may be some fluid that is leftover in the band. If my "problem" persists to call tomorrow and he would see me. Thanks!

    3rd day post surgery

I am 4 days post-op and it has been much worse than I anticipated. I really expected to be up and around by the 3rd day. I did feel somewhat human yesterday but got tired very easily. I was able to sleep without pain meds lastnight and today I woke up feeling 80% human! I immediately looked around my house and went to work....dishes, laundry and picking up! GUESS WHAT! I feel like crap! I am back on the couch and I bet I won't do it tonight or tomorrow. I go back to work on Wednesday and I hope to be at least 95% human. My sites are healing wonderfully and I am starving but controlling with protein drinks. I feel the worst is over. Of course I had to learn the hard way

    nauseous, dizzy & stuck?!

I was banded on Thursday 11/12. I was fine the first day, was able to drink 8oz Protein drink and then all h*ll broke loose. Felt like everytime I took a drink of Water, or Protein Drink I was getting stuck. I was taking too big of gulps. Today is 3 days post-op and I have eaten a popsicle and drank about 3 oz of protein drink! Im taking it easy and lying down when i need it! Best of luck to you
  22. I was banded yesterday at Beebe Hospital in Delaware, by Dr. Zarif. After some scheduling problems and a Nor'eastern storm I made it into surgery at 12 noon. I was out by 1:15 and awake by 2:30. Very little pain, just felt like a bad tummy ache. Dr. gave me Tylenol w/ Codeine liquid and that has been helping. Slept perfect lastnight, getting in and out of bed was easy for the most part. This morning, my left shoulder was killing me and after doing some arm circle exercises and stretching I took some pain medication and laid down. I woke up about 1 hour later and the pain was gone. I was able to get down 12 ounces of protein drink by sipping and sipping water in between. So all in all, I had a wonderful experience! In the recovery room after surgery there was a wrapped gift box that was brought to me. The wonderful nurses begged me to open it and what I found inside was this... A beautiful gold stamp that said, "A gift for you ...As you begin this journey" and inside was a water bottle, pedometer, book of positive inspirations, samples of vitamins and protein drinks. This came from my surgeons office! How awesome was that??!?!?!? So, I am doing fine and will keep in touch as the days continue.

    Wii fit anyone?

Hi there. I do 30 minutes quick walking at lunch time about 5X a week and 30-45 minutes 5-7X aweek on the Wii. I have used Golds Gym Cardio, and Wii Fit. I have EA active and the new one from them on my christmas list! I also have a treadmill and tend to do my Wii before I will do that!! The step aerobics are incredible and I can add my own arm movements. To answer your question....If I do more than 45 minutes I am hurting pretty bad in my hips and lower back the next morning. (arthritis)
  24. I completely understand what you mean! I think the difference for me is that I was so STRICT in the past that if I "messed-up" by eating anything that was unhealthy, I just threw it all away. This past weekend, with permission from my nutritionist, I had a half cheesesteak (no mayo, lite cheese and the bread gutted) and a piece of my birthday cake. It was my birthday and I was not going to jeopardize the surgery or outcome. I had that meal and 4 cocktails.....with no weight gain all weekend. I was so excited. I think I have actually learned to eat in moderation and for the first time in my 40yrs.....listen to my "full" button. Please let me know as you go through your appt how things go for you...how much do you have to lose?
