    Weighing Yourself?

i was just talking to a co-worker on Tuesday about this...I am obsessed with the scale! i have always, always weighed myself twice A DAY! Morning and night...It's a sickness! When I was 346 lbs, I still weighed myself daily to see how much I had gained or lost. I have actually gone out to a store that was open 24hrs and purchased a scale when mine broke late at night.... I have made a decision to remove my scale from my house and take to my mothers. I see her once a week. This is a huge step for me. FYI...my scale now weighs at 1/10th of a pound:unsure:

Who else is on 800 calories

I try to keep at or under 1000. My typical day may be something like this... 2 hard boiled eggs w/ olive oil mayo 7-8 low salt crackers 1 cup of leftovers: could be 4 oz of Tilapia or 3.5 ounces of homemade meat loaf w/ steamed veggies 5-6 oz of fresh fish or 3.5 oz of meat loaf or 4 oz chix breast baked w/ steamed veggies or salad with no sugar added dressing. I do not eat added sugar and I do not eat processed foods. I also drink a crazy amount of Water...somewhere around 100-120 oz daily

    Mii and my Wii!

Ive had the Wii for almost a year now. But actually just started using this past fall. I first bought Gold's Gym cardo and started the boxing. Love that, but it got boring fast. I then started using the Wii Fit here and there maybe 3X a week presurgery. I was banded 11/12/09. At Christmas I got the EA Sports...I absolutely love this workout! I have done the pres-set workouts, and made several of my own workouts. My workout schedule currently is 5-6X a week I do 30 minutes(6-5minute sessions) of advance step on Wii fit and a 25 minute workout on EA Sports. I also have a treadmill at home and have not used it since being banded just because what I am doing is working. I have seen a HUGE difference with incorporating this in my lifestyle change. I highly recommend the EA Sports, there is a ton of things you can mix and match on the program...even dancing!

    do unfills=party!!!

addiction talk....."You had a relapse." When we relapse with food, we get the same feelings of failure, incompetent, guilt and depression as a drug or alcohol addict would after trying so hard to JUST STOP! The wonderful and blessed thing is that we do have these tools that can help in getting back into our recovery from food that has taken control over us...once again. Good Luck

    Why are you losing weight?

Jumping in head first on this one...I was tired of being the "biggest" person in every room I entered. I was tired of being the "really big girl", "yah, but you are so tall"! This is my reality. I am not a shallow person and have NEVER worried what people thought of me. This changed when I started seeing my daughters reaction to people looking at me. That is when it HAD to change for me. No questions asked. She is turning 10. She ask me to stop smoking for her birthday when she was turning 7. That was all she wanted, because she was worried about who was going to raise her when i died of cancer. She knew that smoking kills, but at 7, she couldn't know the problems I was bound to have because of obesity. I stopped smoking the eve of her birthday in 2007 cold turkey and this is just the next gift to both her and me.
  13. I was banded on Thursday. Doing OK...generally feeling better each day. Today was the first day that I was able to get down my whole protein shake and a popsicle. About 3 hours later, I started feeling extreme pain in my stomach. I had to leave to get my daughter from after school care and it takes me 30 minutes. Sweating, severe pain, painful burbs and gas. By the time i got to th edriveway, I was vomiting into a cup I had in the truck! About 5 times, nothing but bubbles and saliva because I havent eaten anything since last tuesday. I feel like I did the day after surgery!! I came home and took my meds, AGAIN! Is this normal? I don't understand how I upset anything if everything is liquid going in...

    Chicken Salad Without Mayo.....

I start with 2 large chicken breasts, fresh off of the baked bird. Cut up the chicken into about 1/2 inch squares. Then put about 1Tbs of mayo w/Olive Oil AND about 2-3 TBS of creamy Grey Poupon Dijon mustard, onion and cracked black pepper and sea salt. It makes about 1.5 cups of wonderful chicken salad. If it is still warm, I mix in steamed cauliflower and broccoli mixture after I dice them up. Makes a great meal!

    Swapping Vices?

    Your very welcome!
  16. How important small pieces and eating slowly REALLY IS! I should have practiced in the months before surgery

    Swapping Vices?

That is the absolute key in success with ANY recovery. People (we) use our substance of choice because we get some type of reward from it whether it be emotional, physoical or otherwise. It makes our brains believe that is one of the only things that give us pleasure anymore. You and I both know thats not true but that is what we have been telling our brains for many many yrs. I would suggest starting simple....a walk on a nice day, shooting basketball with smaller kids, volunteering, reading, exercising, etc. It will be different for everyone. Dig down deep.....there were things that you used to love to do before yourr love affair with Food began. Go back to the beginning. The other really important part is realizing that you absolutely deserve to treat yourself WELL! Put yourself first no matter how hard it is. Yes, even in front of your children and SO. You matter and you must make yourself happy. Takes time...but it's possible. If you are struggling...send me a message. I will do what ever I can to help:smile2:

    Swapping Vices?

I am a Certified Addictions Counselor and in my career, pre-banded, I have seen and assessed many, many people who become "addicted" to drugs/alcohol after Weight Loss Surgery. While talking with these individuals entering treatment they believe that their addiction started after surgery and they had no problems prior. I know as well as most people on this site that we all have suffered from Food Addiction. It is very real and very profound in controling your life and causing the same crisis as it would in an alcoholic/drug environment. "Cross addiction" as it is called happens often. Please be careful with this. It is very real and will cause much harm in your life.

    What Is ur calorie Intake?

It's funny for me because I wasn't much of a sweet eater prior to banding but LOVED hearty food. I have found that if I eat a miniature candy bar or a bite of my daughters kit kat, it tastes so darn good and I am satisfied. This helps around TOM when all I wanted pre-band was chocolate 24/7.

    What Is ur calorie Intake?

It absolutely WILL come off. You have to make wise food choices. Think basic stuff. remember back in school, the food groups. Limit processed foods,( I eliminated them) added sugar and starchy foods. I cook most of my food on Sundays and make things I can throw in tupperware for lunches and snacks. I have only had 1 fill and I still have to be careful but my body is telling me that it likes the healthy stuff. I sleep better, I feel better and I have energy! You have the power to do this. It is not all the band.....Your doing the work! I weigh my food and limit potatoes. (my fav) I still have but only twice a week and half of what I am use to eating. Keep a positive outlook! This is about learning along the way as well.
  21. CONGRATS on making it under 200!!!!:smile2::thumbup::thumbdown::thumbup: I know you must be so proud of yourself. I have dreamed about getting under that 200 mark. Soon I will be following you.......

    What Is ur calorie Intake?

Good luck! Listen to your body....it will let you know if you need to "switch up" your normal food or activity. Keep it mostly natural and healthy and you will do great! FYI: I tend to stay about 1000-1200. I also do not deprive myself of a piece of chocolate or a spoonful of ice cream every once in a while.
  23. I will also be considered overweight for the rest of my life! haha!!! I am large boned and 5ft 8.5inch tall. and I was 185lbs my senior year in high school and I was very thin. Of course that was many many yrs ago but I have been down to about 220 and I am wearing a size 14. Im ok with being "overweight". I have been morbidly obese for most of my adult years and overweight is OK. Actually looking forward 2 it!! LOL
  24. It sounds as if we had similar issues. I was unable to get much liquid down muself for the first week. i finally went into the surgeons office 7 days after surgery and there was an air bubble in my band. It was causing nothing or very little to get through. I was told that as soon as I couldn't get down at least a liter a day, I should have called. I ended up being dehydrated and after he removed the air bubble, I got immediate relief. Please don't wait....call the office. You do not have to suffer through this. Good luck and let us know how you are.:blushing:
