  1. You will make it :smile2: I only had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet before surgery and I am on a full liquid diet since surgery (9/11). The less sugar and carbs you give your body the less hungry you feel. I focus on the Proteins. My husband had very good intentions when he bought me a milkshake... but after I drank it I had serious hunger-attacks for two days straight, no more sugar for me. You will make it, our surgeons have reasons for putting us on those liquid diets and when I have a weak moment I always remind me of my goal. Keep us informed of your progress!
  2. Congratulations and Welcome to Lap-Band Land :-)

    Your First Fill Date!!!

I had my follow-up check up today and can get my fill as early as next week, but since my surgeon is not in next week and I do not like to go to the assistant, I will have my first fill on October, 6th. :bored: :smile2:

I am not in the mushy food phase yet, my surgeon wants me to be on the liquid diet for 2 weeks, so I will start with mushy foods on Friday. I do not think I have any restrictions at all, I can drink as much and how fast I want. Nothing is blocking me (I only had restrictions for the first day after surgery). Other September bandsters are not even able to drink their protein shakes, so it makes me wonder why some do have strong restrictions and some not at all? Did your surgeons tell you which band they used? I believe it comes in different sizes. I do not know yet which one I have but will ask my surgeon at the check-up.

    Tomorrow I get banded!

Good luck to you Ariane. I expected surgery to be worse than it actually was. Everything will be fine. Let us know how it went when you get a chance.

@all September Bandsters Unfortunately I did not find a poll for the group name so I created a new one. Please vote here for our Group Name: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/september-group-name-poll-102389/ PS: I found a topic where September 2009 Bandsters were brainstorming for September 2009 Group Names. I used their suggestions. If you need me to add an additional option please let me know, I can still add it to the poll.

Hi Dana, I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling good today. I had dry heaves as well after surgery. I constantly felt like I have to vomit... It reminded me of severe motion sickness... a lot of saliva would accumulate in my mouth and I was so ready to vomit.... my stomach cramped but nothing came out. At that time I was hoping I could vomit because I was hoping it would make me feel better, but nothing happened. I had surgery on Friday at approx. 10:45 am and the dry heaves stopped early Saturday Morning. I believe it was caused by the anesthesia and started as soon as I was allowed to drink. I also read on the LBT that other people had the same and recommend to not lay down after drinking. I hope you are feeling better soon, it is best to follow your Doctors advice and instructions... I am sure you will be feeling better soon.

I do not know what the choices are, have not seen any polls for our group name. Someone else mentioned it. I would not pick sexy for myself neither right now... but then again... we are all soon to be sexy, arent we? Thats why I like it, but I am very open to all suggestions that you other others may have.

I am glad you had the trial drugs, I do not think they were available at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and I do not think that all patients have bad nausea, maybe my stomach reacts sensitive. But it is over now, so no reason to worry about it Honestly I do not even know if my incisions are stapled, stitched or glued thats why I have just dropped my surgeon an email to find out what to do/or not to do. Just want to be on the safe side. I was still under anesthesia when he talked to me and do not recall all that he said, except that it was successful and that he fixed the hernia. I will have to stay on the liquid diet (including soups and protein shakes) for 2 weeks, after that I will move on to mushies. My follow up appointment is next week and I am sure he will tell me how long I will have to stay on mushies and also schedule an appointment for the first fill. Lucky you! You only have 2 incisions, I have four but I am glad that they are very tiny, I do not think anyone can see them later on. I am more worried about my skin after weight loss

Hi hmarko, Yes, they gave me anti-nausea meds at the hospital through the IV and I also had a prescription but somehow they both did not really do the job. At the hospital I was still okay, I believe it all started when the nurse gave me a little mini cup of apple juice (I drank it after I was released/during the drive home). I am just glad I am feeling better now. I have no pain, very little gas pain (also at the left shoulder) and this morning I had my first bm since surgery as well, which made me very happy because I now know that everything is still working I have 4 incisions and they are healing, the one at the belly button hurts a little but no real pain and I have not taken any pain meds since Sunday morning. I do not know what I said when I woke up, I lost all track of time and only remember someone screaming in the recovering area and that I was moved to a different area around 3 pm where my husband was allowed to join me. Today I felt hunger for the first time since surgery, I drank approx. 24-30 ounces of Trader Joe soups, 2 Atkins Protein Shakes, 1.5 bottles of isopure and lots of water and teas. I do not really feel any restriction yet, I get full very fast but no feeling of real restriction or that anything is blocking me. Wow, I am really impressed that you are already walking that much. I took it very easy, walked around the house and the backyard every hour, and will start walking outside tomorrow. Not sure if I will be able to walk 1-2 miles but will definitely try. Sleeping goes pretty well now, I can even sleep on the side, I could not do that the first 2 nights and getting in and out of bed causes no pain any longer. Did you shower yet? I washed myself with a washcloth every day because I was a little afraid of getting the wounds wet but would really love to take a REAL shower tomorrow. Did it cause you any pain or discomfort? Did you put anything on the wounds to cover it up? I do not have any band aids on my wounds, just some liquid band aid (sorry do not know how to better describe it) Do you have your follow up already scheduled? I have an appointment in the beginning of next week but I do not know when I will get my first fill.

hmarko....interesting, so we were operated at the same time (you are at 2pm on the east coast, I am at approx 11 am on the west coast) My surgery lasted approx. 1h and 45 minutes. My Doctor also fixed the hiatal hernia, I was not even aware that I had one. I am glad to hear that you were not nauseous at all, I felt really bad. Especially during the night. I thought that I had to vomit around 3 AM, walked around a little, took my medications and then finally the nausea disappeared (and never came back). The nausea was the worst thing about surgery. I do not know if I have any restrictions or not, I am not hungry at all, I drink water, tea, soup and isopure during the day and have no appetite at all, I have to force myself to even drink the soup. I have not had a bowel movement since surgery, should I be concerned? Or is this normal while being on a liquid diet? Good luck to you and all September Bandsters! I still cannot believe that I finally have my band, I do not even feel it

Hi all, I had my surgery yesterday. Surgery started at 10 AM and I left the hospital by 6 PM. Did not sleep well last night, had so much nausea and woke up every hour. I did not expect to feel THAT bad after surgery. This morning I am feeling much better and hopefully it will stay that way and will only get better.
