I decided to get the lap band after the seminar because of the less risks associated with the procedure. I am a diabetic who was uncontrolled. I was taking 160-180 units of Lantus every night which ended up being 2 injections. I quit smoking in May of 2009. I used Chantix to quit without much difficulties. I officially quit drinking diet soda in September. I also started Medifast in September which was 6 weeks ago. I have lost 23 lbs to date. My goal pre-surgery was 24 lbs. I am scheduled for surgery on the 29th of October. It is my birthday present to myself. I will be 42 on October 28th. I am completely off of insulin and my blood sugars are controlled.I have a daughter and a husband at home along with 2 labs and 2 cats. My husband is very active, in great health and is very supportive to my decision. He even got a family membership to the local YMCA to help me develop an exercise program. My co-workers are very supportive in this journey I am about to take.My goal is to lose 90 lbs. I have a long journey ahead of me. The road may be rocky but I'm willing to cross the roads with success. Here's to a new life....with the lap band.
