Majority of Band to Sleeve Revisions done in two surgeries?!
BrokeMyHalo replied to SwampBillies's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
There's a good reason your surgeon recommends to do it in 2 steps... I don't understand why anyone would argue it. Your stomach is going to be swollen therefore your sleeve won't be the same as a "Virgin" sleever. After 3 months your swelling goes down. I have 2 friends who pushed for it to be done all in one surgery and they have barely lost anything- they wish they had let their stomach heal from the band removal. What surgeon did you use? I am having a hard time researching surgeons on this one.... would appreciate any feedback!!

Fiddlemen: You may if you felt little difference and are gaining.

Ckunes: go see another surgeon for a second opinion- never hurts I was told my whole lapband "life" it was me not the lapband, it's a tool it's how you use it! Now everyone says the lapband is BS. I believe bougie size does matter. And 56 is pretty big! Last resort I would join weight watchers or revise to another surgery if I were you.

Band to Sleeve Revision- One or Two Procedures?
BrokeMyHalo posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Band to Sleeve Revision- One or Two Procedures? I was curious what your surgeon choose for you and how your weight loss has been so far?? -
Your hair will grow back... I have seen 100's of patients who lost hair and it grew back. Extensions will further damage your hair unless you invest in expensive ones, which are a MOTHA to maintain. Give your body a change to adjust

Need Your Book Ideas!
BrokeMyHalo replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also- social situations (eating out, traveling, etc) How do I turn down food at dinner parties. We came to someone's house for dinner, how do I explain I can't eat what they worked so hard to make... Or can't even finish 1/2 of it. -

Not enough books discuss "failing". I would love to read about revisions and starting over, the reality of it. -

Nervous Wreck about flying!
BrokeMyHalo replied to csutton22's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What size are you? This can help others respond that are a similar size. You may want to contact the airline. I am a pretty outgoing person and would say "I'm a complete wreck about flying, its my first time! I am headed to *blank* and nervous about the seating, can you provide me a little bit more information? Such as size restrictions?" Plus- airlines offer seltbelt extenders. And LAST resort if you're THAT worried, buy a seat in first class and live in luxury! I pop a Xanax and have a glass of wine to calm my flying nerves. -

Research the term "refund gap"... Those are the worse augmentation jobs. -
Has anyone here gotten a prescription for "Atenolol"? 202 weeks before and after surgery? This medication is a Beta Blocker.
BrokeMyHalo replied to theresainmpls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a rapid heart beat its my understanding the beta blocker will help slow it down by blocking the effects of stress hormones. I'd contact your surgeon and double check so you feel better! -

I got some great information on bougies on obesityhelp.com. Super relieved to find answers to my questions with no judgements.

don't think I should be able to eat...
BrokeMyHalo replied to Linda 66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you waited 3 years... I doubt he would have a reason to be conservative on your sleeve. By 3 years your stomachs swelling should be down (this typically happens 3 months after your band removal) and scaring should settle. Sometimes the surgeon can't help if you have scar tissue, its more important for them to keep you safe and prevent complications (such as leaks) which MAY require leaving more stomach/scars. Your best bet is to make an appointment and tell him your symptoms. Ask him if because you were a revision if that changed anything compared to a virgin sleever. I read a lot about how revision patients don't feel that same restriction after the sleeve. -

I do not have a problem with people wanting this and other WLS procedures without co-morbidities. I have worked in Bariatrics for years, this is the where it is headed. A responsible surgeon can and will decide who this is best for. I find it fascinating and exciting! Thanks for the positive response SunMoonStar

Its also really insulting you assume I think this is a quick fix. No where did I mention that the surgery should do all the work or "cure" me. and you did quote me in your response. You sound like how many people were about the band years and years ago, so protective and know-it-alls...I did not fail the band. For years I listened to people go on and on about how if the band doesn't work, "its YOU not the band". Now lapbanders and providers are coming around to realize the lapband wasn't what they once thought it was.

OP asked about what size people had... not if it mattered or not. Clearly some people want to learn more about bougies. Shutting people down from learning about this procedure is no way to show support.
