I was the high school quarterback and was always very active. Then I went away to college and gained a lot of weight..too much fun and too much drinking...Then I entered the work place and started a job as a private investigator that included spending long hours in the car and making bad food chooses while on the go. My weight went from 185 lbs in high school to a stagering 359 lbs when I decided something needed to be done about my weight. I had already started experiencing shortness of breath from simply walking around my house and also was experiencing cellulitis in my left leg. I visited Dr. Reich in Manahawkin, NJ about possibly getting the lapband surgery and he sent me for a series of pre-op tests which included a sleep study to see if I had sleep apnea which I did have and did not know. The testing I would later learn was to compile enough evidence for my insurance company so they could not deny me for 100% coverage of the surgery. And that is exactly what happened my insurance company covered my surgery 100 %. I had my surgery on June 12, 2009 (359lbs) and now today is sept 7, 2009 (312 lbs). I feel full of energy..alive...wanting to do the treadmill so I can feel even better. Since my surgery I dont feel any hunger cravings and although I do cheat here and there I do so sensibly. I now work as a bouncer part time in a night club and travel around the State of New Jersey as security for Rock bands that playing in the area. this is the best thing i ever did and my journey is just starting...
